Phillygrump
Take these two hits... and this one I think the only difference is that one the victim is a penguin (two game suspension for the perpetrator) and the second the perpetrator is a penguin ($2500 fine)This entire league is a joke. I'm just counting down the days until the NFL draft or baseball starts. The NHL has head its head buried in its own @ss for quite some time now. Phillygrump
There is no integrity in any pro sport. I think the NHL might be the most blatant thought.

xganarchy
I'm sure the word "intent" would be used by Shanny, as he IS psychic.
pilldoc
It is utter crap if you ask me. How Jordan Staal only gets a fine is beyond me. He boarded Coborn a good 5-6 feet away from the board...AND THAT SHOULD deserve a fine. McDonald hits Lovejay a mere foot away and he gets to sit for 2 games. There is no justice in the league and if i am the Isles I would be pi$$ed. But according to Ponaris and any other Pens fan there is no bias in the league that it is all in our heads. BULL!If anything the Staal hit is way worse than the McDonald hit. I dare any Pens fan to justify why Staal should only get a fine yet McDonald gets 2 games. There is a bias in the league known as the dictatorship of Bettman and Shanny.

Jmdodgesrt4
See the brown hit on kaleta. No suspension.
Jmdodgesrt4
I think it's time to try one year of no instigator penalty. Let the players patrol the ice. Prolly less cheap shots.
TedZep
I didn't think Shanahan could be any worse than Campbell, but I was wrong.

There is a bias in the league known as the dictatorship of Bettman and Shanny.I think THAT is the difference. The hit was so far from the boards nobody could expect Coburn to limp noodle his way to the boards from that far away. Most skaters that get a push that far away simply glide to the glass and get pressed there. Happens to me all the time on defense in my men's league, actually. We see this hit from a lot of teams across the league, and all last year it was very rarely called. Staal got a penalty for it on the play and added fine. This year they've said they're going after boarding calls more aggressively, so if you want to know what the difference is, it's the season. This year they've gone after it much more aggressively. As is evident by the number of boarding calls so early in the season. The Pens have had what? 5 now? 6? I never said there was no bias in the league, I said it's not team dependent, it's player dependent. The superstars get away with more than the peons do. Always has been that way. Not saying it's right, just saying it 's done. I'm actually getting tired of clarifying that over and over again. I'm starting to think they make orange and black ear plugs too....
