Samifan
I thought he was supposed to be some creative, offensive minded defenseman that would upgrade our PP and facilitate more scoring opportunities? Well, we're waiting..........
doom88
The team is transitioning to a more defensive system, but I did see him make at least one very nice breakout.
canoli
he's been fine, exactly what I expected. He rushes the puck well, has enough brains not to get beat defensively very often...nothing spectacular but "as advertised" he's a PMD, period. I never wanted him, esp for 4 years at $5.25 but since he's been here he's been fine. Or put it another way, there are so many more obvious problems with this Flyers team that Streit is the least of my concern.
murraycraven
I actually think he is the only defenseman that has made a nice first pass. He might be the only Flyer that can make a tape to tape passs right now. I would like to see him join the rush more... well, I gues we need a "rush" for that to happen but you get my point. Yep that's the point alright, exactly, there is no "rush" to join - a few times/game they break out clean and start up ice together, the rest of the time they're way too slow - mentally slow. Esp against good D teams like last night and even Montreal. They know how to smother the puck-carrier and our guys have just been too slow finding the outlet. Half the time the outlet is 80 feet away, clueless...and when he is in reach the puck-carrier doesn't find him - or finds him but slaps the puck nowhere near his stick. I don't know man it's just a fkng MESS right now.

This Team's transition has been an issue for a while. I can remember the last time I say 3 forwards coming through the neutral zone w/ speed! I think this Team has just lost all confidence
canoli
Believe it or not it wasn't that long ago. Opening night vs. Toronto we played extremely well for 2 periods. D-men were hitting guys with short outlet passes, the Flyers were breezing through the N zone in stride, entering the zone under control... it was a beautiful thing to watch it really was. Then the Leafs woke up in the 3rd, turned up the pressure. As soon as they did I swear you could actually see the panic grow on the Flyers...except for Vinny and Zac, the only 2 who didn't freeze up...and the Leafs just dominated that period. Scored twice IIRC and since then the Flyers have played likeshit. Individually and team-wise they're just not ready for NHL-level competition. canoli
yeah it's funy - in a sad sort of way... I went from "Wow we got a Real Team here finaly! Homer brought in the right guys, they're making a difference already! Yay! Goaltending looks good, despite the bad goal." to "What a fkng mess. My god I've never seen the Flyers this funkedup before, ever. The simplest thing - an outlet pass while the other team is changing goes off the mark. Incredible. Great Zac is hitting, Grossman is blocking shots. Vinny looks like he still has it. But it's all for nothing because they can't advance the puck!" Polaris922
I've seen pieces of your games and honestly the D looks okay to me. Streit in particular seemed poised and fluid. The problem I saw was your forwards seemed unable to get open enough to receive a clean breakout pass. I dunno if that's system or effort? The forwards definitely do not get back and there is way too much space for the breakout. I think it is more the forwards than the defense and hopefully The Chief corrects it... this forwards are at center ice and it will never work of they dont get back... doom88
Agreed Polaris, I've been saying that for a few years now. In hindsight, I guess it was Lavy.

canoli
well "it" - the team play, breakouts, gap control etc. - were all much better in the Detroit game. Tonight I guess we'll see if that was a one-time, desperate-to-impress-the-new-coach deal or if Berube is actually turning things around. I sure liked the callups though and I loved the fact that Meszaros was in the press box.
