Torey Krug considering the KHL

RFA Torey Krug of the Boston Bruins who set a Bruins rookie record with goals be a d-man with 14 and had 40 points and finished 4th in the Calder vote is up against it with the Bruins, the team is fighting cap space to try to get Krug and Reilly Smith under new deals for next season.

No team seems willing to offer sheet Krug (HELLO RED WINGS!!!!!) out of fear of hurting the feelings of another GM in the league, so Krug has supposedly put an offer in place from a team in the KHL in Russia.

It seems a longshot, it seems likely that the Bruins get a deal done before the start of the year. Rumors continue to circulate that Boychuk is on the move, for a cheaper top nine forward. Rumors of Boychuk for Jurco in Detroit have been circulating all summer, it makes perfect sense for both except for the fact that they are in the same division.

So Krug who is not being offer sheeted in spite of being a power play specialist (HELLO KEN HOLLAND!!!!) is using the only recourse available to him the threat of jumping to the KHL.

I thought O'Reilly in Colorado would be using this option this year, but they managed to get together on a deal. Krug is an up and comer, a solid d-man who any team would love to have, or should and why he has no offer sheets is collusion at its finest and really sad. I figure sooner or later Boston will get it together and get both him and Reilly Smith under wraps but it is good to see him using every recourse available to him to drive up his asking price.

Apparently, Krug is not eligible for an offer sheet. Have to have 3 years of NHL experience or somesuch

well that's that. I have been reading online about teams can sign him to an offer sheet and here comes Joe correcting several reports that I have read. Good catch.

Interesting situation to say the least.

I still say there is collusion, but maybe not in this case.

But there will come a day when the NHLPA has some tangible evidence and files suit.

That's the day gas prices don't magically all go up across the country overnight.

I never said that day would arrive any time soon. ;)

Hell, the Leafs will probably even win a Cup before that day comes.
