OccamsRazor
Huge game here. Flyers only 6 points behind the Devils. I would love a win in regulation. I would go with Neuvy again. He deserves it. Let Elliott rest another day and be fresh to face the Caps sunday. 4 point game here. This would be my lineup. 28 Claude Giroux - 14 Sean Couturier - 11 Travis Konecny 12 Michael Raffl - 51 Valtteri Filppula - 93 Jakub Voracek 40 Jordan Weal - 19 Nolan Patrick - 17 Wayne Simmonds 15 Jori Lehtera - 21 Scott Laughton - 56 Tyrell Goulbourne 9 Ivan Provorov - 53 Shayne Gostisbehere 8 Robert Hagg - 47 Andrew McDonald6 Travis Sanheim - 3 Radko Gudas 30 Michal Neuvirth 37 Brian Elliott My PP units: PP 1: 17 Wayne Simmonds - 14 Sean Couturier - 93 Jake Voracek - 28 Claude Giroux - 53 Shayne GostisbeherePP 2: 40 Jordan Weal - 19 Nolan Patrick - 11 Travis Konecny - 9 Ivan Provorov - 6 Travis Sanheim
Howie58
Greetings: Oddshark has us as favorites; here is another take that notes NJ's record versus the Metro is quite poor. We are coming off a great win against the Leafs and the Devils are coming off an OT win against the Caps. The Devils' PP is #7 in the league; we can't take undisciplined penalties. https://winnersandwhiners.com/games/nhl/1-20-2018/new-jersey-devils-vs-philadelphia-flyers-expert-prediction-1391/ Schneider and "Moose" have fairly similar GAA. I am not sure if it is Elliott or Neuvy; Hess sees it as Elliott. NJ is fairly weak on the road. Hopefully we keep our eye on the Devils and don't look ahead to Sunday. One thing to note--and what made last night's win against the Leafs "special:" Take a look at our record when scoring first, ahead in the first, and behind after 1: https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/PHI/2018_situational.html This year's edition of the O and B is not a "mudder." AJgoal
Well, I'll be there. They won the only other game I've been to. Hoping they play Sanheim and Leier over Manning and Lehtera.

Neuvy has played well versus the Caps so i would be ok with going with Elliott vs. the Debbies and then Neuvy vs. Caps.

OccamsRazor
Bill's lineup. http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Bill-Meltzer/Flyers-Gameday-12018-vs-NJ/45/90426 FLYERS28 Claude Giroux - 14 Sean Couturier - 11 Travis Konecny 12 Michael Raffl - 51 Valtteri Filppula - 93 Jakub Voracek40 Jordan Weal - 19 Nolan Patrick - 17 Wayne Simmonds20 Taylor Leier or 56 Tyrell Goulbourne - 21 Scott Laughton - 15 Jori Lehterä9 Ivan Provorov - 53 Shayne Gostisbehere 47 Andrew MacDonald -3 Robert Hägg23 Brandon Manning - 3 Radko Gudas30 Michal Neuvirth / 37 Brian ElliottScratches: 6 Travis Sanheim (healthy), 56 Tyrell Goulbourne or 20 Taylor Leier (healthy), 22 Dale Weise (healthy).DEVILS9 Taylor Hall - 13 Nico Hischier - 63 Jesper Bratt90 Marcus Johansson - 19 Travis Zajac - 18 Drew Stafford 44 Miles Wood - 37 Pavel Zacha - 21 Kyle Palmieri 39 Brian Gibbons - 11 Brian Boyle - 23 Stefan Noesen 6 Andy Greene - 45 Sami Vantanen2 John Moore - 28 Damon Severson 8 Will Butcher - 12 Ben Lovejoy1 Keith Kinkaid[41 Ken Appleby]Scratches: 10 Jimmy Hayes (healthy), 16 Steven Santini (healthy), 40 Blake Coleman (healthy), 35 Cory Schneider (illness), 25 Mirco Mueller (IR, broken left clavicle). I would add Leier back to the 4th for the added speed vs. this fast Devils lineup. Looks like Neuvy will get the nod. Can't blame them for going with him again he was lights out last game. An extra day of rest for Elliott for tomorrow.
brelic
Well that was a pretty dominant 1st period! Lots of secondary scoring, and the whole team was very strong on the puck. Keep ot going!
AJgoal
Great period. Sitting behind the debs net, so saw lots of action. Simmonds is really flying, that whole line has been good. Manning noticeably bad. Konecny looks like he wants to take over the game, not giving up on anything.
Samifan
Good game so far, hope they can finish it. Need to find a way to beat
brelic
Great team win. Everyone showed up to play. The Patrick line generated lots of pressure and chances. Couturier was a puck possession monster. Provorov and Ghost is my favourite Flyers pairing possibly ever. And they’re only scratching the surface of their talent. Neuvirth > Elliott. There was never any question. At worst, they should split starts for a while.

Didn't see the game so i have a hard question to ask. Does Neuvy go again or should you rest him and go with Elliott?? That is 4 complete days to rest since getting yanked in the Rags game. Man i have to agree their skill sets compliment each other. We could be seeing the Flyers top D pair form right before our eyes for the next 10+ years. Start by Ivan... then Ghost took it from there... LAY UP!!!! Nice wheels by TK... ...then the finish by Ivan... And then some nice physical play by Ghost telling Palmieri to sit his ass down!!!!!! Nice! Then the refs had to help by giving Laughton a penalty on a follow through....really?? Love to see Neuvy come up to the top of the crease to challenge the puck carrier... ...Elliott doesn't do this plays to deep in his net most times. Then TK almost gets one from a sweet pass by Ivan... Then the no call as Coots almost loses an eye...that was close. Ivan owning the neutral zone...none shall pass!!!! Nice back to back wins Neuvy!!!!!!! Bring on the Caps!!!!!!!
OccamsRazor
Flyers need to sign Henry and just plug him into the goal......shutout everytime!!!!!!

I think I'd start Neuvy again tomorrow, then start splitting them. The Caps have lethal scorers and I think Neuvy is the more acrobatic goalie. Howie58
This was a good disciplined effort. My only negative take was PP; could have put this one away more quickly but going 0/5 hurts. Patrick is growing up via OJT. He looks alive. Provorov is impressive. Neuvy is hot. Whether that lasts remains to be seen.

The fourth doesn’t look as good as they did early in the season but they still get the cycle in. We’re 4 points from 1st in the Atlantic. Nothing wrong with that. 14-5-1 since the 0-5-5 stretch. Only Vegas and the Bruins have a better record over the same stretch.
