yave1964 Posted March 28, 2021 Share Posted March 28, 2021 Cole Caufield who simply dominated the World Junior tourney has signed with the Canadiens now that Wisconsin has been eliminated and along with the newly added Eric Staal could completely change the makeup of the Habs middle six going forward as they look for a boost as they try to keep up with the big boys in the North. Brendan Lemieux was traded last night in a bit of a surprise to the Kings for a 4th rounder, not sure what it is signaling about the Rangers, if this is the start of a mini firesale or if they simply moved him out to get ice time for a Di Guisseppe, but they now have 11 picks in the upcoming draft including 4 in the 4th round. Stick a fork in Columbus, they are done, cooked, moving on to the golf course. They simply are not trying anymore, they appear to have checked out. I watched the game yesterday afternoon against the Wings who lost 7-1 against the Preds a few days before. At the end of the first it was 2-0 Detroit, the Wings had outshot the Jackets 16-4 (!) and had hit three posts to boot. You cannot blame injuries, Korpi is out but the rest of the team is healthy so that is not an excuse, they have simply stopped trying. He scored 2 goals. In the entire tournament. He was 8th in scoring...on his team. He's certainly dominated NCAA though. His 32 goals and 58 points topped out as a 35 point season in the NHL. Hard to project college kids to the NHL.
