    Greetings:

It looks like the bookies are catching up to the Flyers' performance--I see one sportsbook putting us at -145.  That said, San Jose is 1-6.

While we're at home, it is back-to-back and you wonder what's left after a physical game versus the Preds.   Lifetime, we are sub .500 versus San Jose and haven't beaten them since 2020.

I wonder if we see Hart or Sandstrom.

Help the sharks on our tank for Bedard! 1-6-0

Why is jost on the top line?

Hartman has chemistry with the top 2 last year. And I haven't heard a nice word about jost in the last 5 years

Can I have Pettersson back and I'll give you Gibson? I played a bit harsh with him, he's a bit broken with some scratches but I think he's repairable... :InnocentSmiley:

Amazing how much things can change in a few games.

When we made that trade pettersen had 1 point in 2 games and Gibson had a 44 save win.

At the same time I made you that offer, I was offering samsonov to the Murray owner for svechnikov, who declined and said he was happy with his goalies. Now he is rocking valjekma and 3 backups on his roster to make starts since Murray got injured.

No. He still sucks. Come May Edmonton will be fighting for the cup and Comrie will be looking for a new job probably in the KHL. He sucks just won a meaningless game in October that nobody will remember in a month.

@yave1964 was probably a touch harsh in his take, but I essentially agree with him. Comrie is 27 years old, has bounced around from organization to organization, been waived repeatedly, and has never been able to play more than 1 or 2 games per year until last year. He had the game of his life last night, and he can proudly tell his Grandchildren about it some day, but this isn't him rounding the corner to becoming a reliable goalie.

At the same age, and with more stability in his career up until that point, Ben Scrivens pitched a 59 save shutout against the powerhouse Sharks. Nice game, hell of a job. He was still in the KHL in a couple of years.

I know we all love heckling HJ, but I saw some future greatness in Comrie years ago and felt he was held back being behind Hellboy. Hellboy being my favorite goalie in the league and all and Elite workhorse, yeah Comrie isn't going to get a chance in Winnipeg, no more than any understudy of Vasilievski would get a ton of chances.

Winnipeg reclaimed him at every opportunity after he was stolen on waivers. Detroit only used him when they had injury issues with Howard or Bernier as a band aid and then sent him to the minors, where Winnipeg reclaimed him. Then he was taken by jersey, who used him as a band aid and Winnipeg immediately reclaimed him from Waivers.

Winnipeg SUCKED last year pretty bad, but Comrie still won 10 games, lost 5 and had a 92% Sv. I was pretty happy to see him go to a team where he would get a shot at #1 goalie status

Who in the love of God is Comrie?

I think a few of us told you early on Comrie was a good pickup.

Comrie was once expected to be a great starting goalie. This is a good move for Buffalo. He's been stuck behind Hellebuyck,  who is elite and never really given a shot

I've got a tremendous goaltening week thank to the two worst starters in my roster, compiling a magnificient 0-3 record, 6.67 GAA and .847 sv%. Despite of that, I got all the goaltending scores because my opponent didn't reach the three goalie appearence mark.

Oh, and great -17 in +/- overall. For the rest that was pretty close. And having centers that actually play center might be a cool idea too.

That might be the worst goalie score I have ever seen sweep and win goalie categories LOL

oh boy. ugh. innocent until proven otherwise but if true a sad day for the game.

Innocent until proven guilty is important. Particularly when the only evidence is a twitter account who made the account 2 days before the accusation and then ghosted. Anyone could do that from a starbucks cafe wifi on a burner phone. It's simple as hell. They regularly organize fake twitter bombs like that on sites like 4chan and then laugh at the outcomes.

  8. Congratz to Yave on winning our Rivalry week match lol

I ALMOST came back. Was down 12-3 for most of the week and did my usual weekend explosion. Score ended up 7-8

I was only behind by 1 assist, 1 ppg, tied in SHP (both of us getting 2 shorties lol)

But im looking at the positives of the week. Matt Murray got injured, which Hurts me in the keeper league since I own him, but helps me here since I own Samsonov. Carter Hart played very well and the Tortorella system is improving philly even in the absence of superstars. Saros poopped the bed in 2 of 3 games this week and I still ran away with goalie cats.

I now have 3  starting goalies and acquired Pettersen for Gibson, who should help my scoring and SOG with a few FOW from wing. And I looked at other scores and feel I may have fares well against anyone and I took the 1st overall draft man @yave1964to the limit lol

how did your weeks go folks? We need to get some chatter going!

I just noticed that the one who has the most PIM gets the score. Shouldn't be the other way round?

    Otherwise, I'll go all-in for Borowiecki !

I've done that. But Borowiecki gets you little in any category except peripherals.

If PIMs were reversed to most loses it would make going after hits + blocks guys way less valuable and everyone would just go for skill players.

boro Makes a good guy to sub in hoping for a hail mary 10 + game if you are behind on PIMs though

PIMs is why Tkachuk and evander kane is so valued on top of Hits and shots.

Minnesota looked like a pre season powerhouse, but we all know what that’s worth…..

    Wanting to be pleasantly surprised.

Gonba be up to Kap, Zuc, and Boldy to carry these guys.

Maybe a Calder-like campaign from Rossi?

    A fan can dream , eh? 😃

Who the heck is calen addison and how have I never heard of him?

I watched this kid move the other night and his lateral movement and shot have shades of prime Brent Burns.

Powerplay 1 is his and I doubt Spurgeon or Dumba can knock him out of it if the coach is smart.

Interesting trade between Lady's Neats and J0e's Sharkniconadoes.

Two 'declining' players....but each with the potential to still offer in a few offensive categories.

LadyNeat gets Jonathan Toews, da Sharkas get Evgeni Malkinstein.

I think "Gino" ends up offering more offense (if he can keep from getting hurt), while, as J0e advertised, Toews will offer TONS of face offs to go along with some offense.

Gino is excellent if healthy. Which is usually 50% of the time. Ppg player with ppp and shoots more. I lost a lot of faceoffs though and Toews is 2 years removed from his peak. He could bounce back and I might regret this.

Remember when we lost a season and a half of hockey so the owners could force the players to stop the owners from making silly offers to the players?

    That was nice.

I like Barzal fine, and "down the line" this $9M could look "fine" as the cap rises.

And I get locking young guys up to pay them for their primes.

But if every 20/70 guys is going to be making $9M, there were over 70 of them in the league in the last full season. In that same season there were 12 guys with a $9M+ cap hit and 25 with actual earnings of $9M or more.

    "Fiscal responsibility"

I'm not terribly worried about it.

Salaries in 2005 were back when minimum wage was like $7 here. Now minimum wage is near $14 an hour and the price of everything has doubled or more since 2005.

9 million in 2022 money is like 5 million in 2005 money.

The salary cap more or less forces the frugal teams to meet a cap floor more than anything and hamstrings richer teams from just throwing $20million contracts at UFA's

Given that Gretzky was the leagues highest paid player in 1991 at 3 million a year, and less than 8 years later Theo fleury was making 8.5 million a year, I'd say Barzal making near Theo fleury 1999 money isn't the end of the world. All things considered
