  1. Love or hate the last few years, rhe man deserves a statue for the absolute fleecing trades he was able to pull off
  2. That hit was fine. Play the puck, risk getting hit. It was clean. No elbows or anything In the 80s, defensemen couldn't even play the puck without fear of getting hit in the numbers face first into the boards lol, so many of them just panic tossed the puck or avoided corners.
  3. Seeing reports that he may have passed away? But this could be untrue as I do not see official news sources anymore and a few retractions. I met him once when he was a spokesman for Stihl and they had an event at my old Hotel. They asked all the managers who wanted to meet him and bring him into the back area before his presentation and I jumped at the chance. I actually have an autographed picture somewhere in my old workplace stuff. He was a very nice guy and way taller than I thought he would be. im 6 feet tall and he was a few inches taller than I am, or he was wearing boots that made him way taller. The man was the straw that stirred the drink on the Isles. Often forgotten is how Bossy could play on any line with any 2 linemates, and score the exact same amount as he would with Trottier and Gillies. While those two suffered if Bossy was not on their line. Bossy was also excellent defensively, as anyone on an Al Arbour defensive system had to be, but overshadowed by his more physical defensive teammates in that regard to the point that kids today who did not see how good defensively he was assume he was carried. Nobody carried Boss. but Boss carried many. Trottier needed knee surgery one offseason and gillies was banged up too near retirement and was visibly not playing well, so he got bumped down the lineup in 85 and they put Sutter, a pure defensive center with not a lot of offensive talent with Bossy and Toneli. And yeah, Sutter hit 42 goals and 102 points for the first and only time in his career of 49-60 point averages. Tonelli had a career year too with 42 goals and 100 points. Bossy was one of those guys who just elevated his teammates no matter who they were. He was that good. The man would take something like 20 cross checks to the back and neck a night and just keep getting up like a cyborg and scoring. Tough as nails, and still stood by his principles not to fight or goon it up. The last time I thought of Bossy and of modern players wondering if anyone had the heart and relentless will to keep getting up that Bossy had was when Captain American was getting back alley mugged by the Preds. and that was mild compared to what Bossy put up with in the goon era
  4. I don't do rubbers. And tears are all the lube we will need. Remains to be seen who will be the bottom though
  5. Congratz @yave1964on yet another presidents trophy. And congratz to @bbgarnettfor surging into 2nd and taking that bi spot. Damnit. Lol Good luck @ruxpinfor our 1st round match
  6. If sorokin comes off IR and kahkonen does well with the sharks(lol). That trade and injury may well mess up his first round unless sorokin comes back quick and kahk has a hot streak. Granted andersen is a strong goalie. But nice daws isn't yet. I am kicking myself for dropping strome and Thompson though. Hf scooped them both The funny thing is, we would be splitting starts in the 1st and 2nd round because I have Reimer and raanta. And I don't like it but I have to hold both due to goalie injury volatility. Can't drop francouz either because Colorado has back to back games in every round and he is money when he plays.
  7. Yeah, and I distinctly remember praying nobody would trade mad dog a goalie. Then someone did lol. His offense terrifies me. Kinda like dumba's in this league. Hoped he would not get a goalie either. Hf101 always drafts better than all of us and doesn't need to make many moves or pull trades to be competitive. I'm actually jealous of how astutely he drafts because I suck at drafting.
  8. The second part of that story is, you lost to Doc in the consolation bracket right after and it looked like you would be relegated to Conn Smythe due to not finishing top 6 lol. And yeah, I have some ground to make up to catch those championships But meh. I only count our matches together for the personal rivalry, which I find adds fun to the mix, even when I lose. You have knocked me out of All stars 4 times to 1, when Counting CBS, ESPN and Yahoo. I have won our only NAHANA meetup. I bring that year up a lot because it is the ONLY time I ever won the all stars championship and I haven't faced you in the playoffs since I don't think. Hale kicked my butt last year in the Semi's, the year before that season cancelled ended it before playoffs and Doc whooped me the year before. The other time that I remember you beat me by a fraction of a goalie point back in the ESPN fantasy days because of a goalie I traded you, and that stung me horribly lol...... So much so that I lied to myself and said i would never trade with you again......and I have made like 287 trades with you in both leagues since LOL. That same year was the first year after I rebuilt that awful team in NAHANA and I went to the finals with Rux there, where he kicked my butt. 2015-16 Rebuild, no playoffs 2016-17 First year after rebuild with the McDavid pick, going to the finals. And I was screaming like Sloth from the goonies "HEY U GUYS IM DOING IT IM DOOOOOOOING IT!" then Rux bashed me lol. 2017-18 Metadeke knocked me out 1st round 2018-19 jammer knocked me out 2nd round 2019-20 no playoffs COVID 2020-21 WEEEE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!!!(And I beat Yave in the Finals while setting the all time NAHANA record for winning 14 weeks in a row) This year, not so confident. I like my team and think I can compete, in both leagues. But the top competition is fierce in both leagues. And it seems like in Both leagues, my defensemen are just going down like cement in water with injuries.
  9. Man. It's razor close between 2nd, 3rd and 4th with @Hale and @bbgarnetttied with 455 and me trailing at 453. We all want that 2nd place bi spot for 1st round! I don't think any of us can catch @yave1964who has a 15 point lead in 1st unless he loses his week in almost every category. good luck everyone!
  10. Won my week 10-6.....and managed to fall from 2nd place to 4th .....lol Ok @Halethis is a big week for both of us. Good luck.
  11. Wow. Hans acquire Justin Barron and a 2nd for Lehkonen. As a mooseheads guy who watched Barron regularly... The only reason he fell so far in the draft was his blood clot ruining his draft year and hampering his This is like trading an early 1st and 2nd for Lehkonen. They don't need him with makar, toews, Byram, but man why give him away?
  12. Also means Reimer must be on the move. But where...
  13. Giroux controlled where he wanted to go. That lowers the price when the buying team knows that. It turns it into a "let him walk for nothing, or take what you can get"
  14. Exactly. I don't mind using adjusted stats as a barometer, but I don't consider it an absolute lol. But do I think it was easier for a player to score goals when goalie pads only covered 40% of the net as opposed to 90%? Well yeah. I remember wearing those old leather pads as a kid. Not only were they small, they were twice as heavy and got heavier as they soaked up water all game lol We also don't see 100 odd man rushes a game like we did when I saw a kid because teams generally play defense now. We aren't going to say 25 year old John Ogrodnick's 55 goal 105 point season in 1985 is nearly equal to McDavid's first 2 art ross seasons with less goals and near the same points. It's just obvious it isn't
  15. Comparing points and goals per game in the 80's to modern hockey isn't really feasible. A 50 goal scorer today is closer to a 60 goal scorer in the mid 80s. And a 40 goal scorer today is closer to a 50 goal scorer in the 80s. Kerr was a garbage goal scorer. Amazing at it. Money on the pp. Unmoveable in front of the net. But he was exceptionally 1 dimensional and that unmoveability is responsible for a lot of the punishment his back and knees endured. By all accounts, He skated like the ice was molasses even before his injuries and would have a hard time in the modern game due to his plodding footspeed. He's a much better Tomas Holmstrom.
  16. Outside for sure. But im OK with Reimer and Hill for another year of growth. Eklund should make the Squad full time next year too.
  17. Im happy with it. Hertl, Meier, Eklund is still a nice trio, Couture can still be 2nd line C effectively. Karlsson still has gas in the tank and has played very well this year when healthy. The rest of our D outside Karlsson/Ferraro needs a makeover. Realistically, they need to buy out vlasic and trade Burns with 2 million retention(lots of team would perk up if Burns only made 6 million) and the situation isn't that bad.
  18. I doubt Anaheim moves lindholm He is one of their best defensemen and their retool is near complete they have a crop of excellent young forwards, Drysdale invigorating their blue line, a star goalie in Gibson and old contracts coming off the books. Anaheim fans love him
  19. Oh no, there isn't a prayer I can keep him. He couldn't crack my top 5 after I spent like all my picks loading up for the playoffs. But I meant I picked him up to stream for a few games and then wanted to drop him when he stopped scoring. But he hasn't and now I need to drop someone else. lol
  20. I picked Boldy up as a streaming option in the Keep 5 league a lot of us play in. Now I don't want to drop him lol
  21. Personally, I think Dumba wins this trade. I was scared shitless when you acquired Vasilievsky 3 weeks after trading Bob. You had been running with Fleury, Hart and more recently you grabbed Nedejkovic. but I still worried a ton after I saw Vasilievsky move to your team. I usually look at categories and hypothesize if I can win enough to beat someone. My look told me I could give you a run for your money on Goals, Assists, PPG, PPA, Faceoffs and Blocks and possibly SOG since Eichel came off IR and most goalie categories while flipping a coin on the lottery categories like SHP and GWG. I felt you trading Bob weakened your team and helped enable rux to shoot up the standings into a playoff spot. That changed the minute Vasilievsky moved to your team. Im surprised you gave him up. I still feel you have one of the strongest teams in the league and its going to take a lot of luck to beat you, but I feel you weakened it with this move to get stronger in areas you were already strong in. I know goalies make up less categories here than in the Keeper league so goalies are not as important, but it still seems like a strange move On the other end, i feel like you just filled your biggest need and didn't have to break the bank for it. You have McDavid, Ovechkin, Fox and a very strong offense that doesn't rely on faceoff wins and you just got a top 5 goalie in the league, while still owning the handcuff to the Wild net and the better Blues goalie. Some of your recent pickups are paying dividends(Toffoli, Boldy) and you have good depth. I've faced you twice this year and feel like I have some miraculous luck getting you on weeks where your offense is on a cold streak. But my goaltending was always a strong point. Now the scales have tipped in your favor
  22. @Ladyneat ties me in a close week. Goodmatch! Managed to overtake @Halefor 2nd place. But can I hold it...?
