Actually you are ..... I feel the same way.  No virus is gonna keep me from enjoying life.  However, there are hundred thousands of kids and adults who are immnocompromised due to a myriad of reasons who can't fight infections like you and me.  "IF" you become infected and don't know it, you can be risking the lives of those individuals whom you might interact with on a daily basis.  Therefore  just caution is a necessity.  Listen closely...I am not saying one has to live in fear...but one needs to be mindful of others out there who can't fight infections.  That is why it is called flattening the bell curve.... give folks in my industry a chance to get a vaccine or a treatment plan in place.

Taking this nonchalant attitude that nothing is gonna keep me down is fine but we MUST be thinking about other individuals in our daily world.  It begins at home and with each and everyone one of us doing out part which begins with good hygiene.

    Well Said!

Throughout the Flyers entire  history , other than Lindros,  we never had generational talent, we had good players,  yet we were always one of the top teams and a very successful franchise. What set us apart was leadership and determination . We always came to play and never quit. Clarke, Poulin, Sutter, Tocchet, Primeau, .etc. I really believe that this team lacks leadership, and has not had a true leader since Pronger.  Lindros was never a leader and I dont think Giroux and Voracek are good leaders either.  I just dont think they have the alpha personalities to lead this team. We don't have the fire of past Flyer teams.

Disagree regarding generational talent: Robert Earle Clarke was just that!

as a healthcare professional, migraine disorder is one of the toughest medical conditions to treat as it varies from patient to patient...

I wish him good well wishes and a speedy recovery.

Migraines can be a very tough disability to diagnose, treat and manage, with variable outcomes. I echo Pilldoc's sentiment. Nolan, I wish you the best and a  successful recovery.

One word guys. Atlanta, it's the "new Cleveland".

Aside from Coca-Cola, Jimmy Carter's park, Sevendust and MLK...it's awful.

It's hot as hell there, humid too, traffic is bonkers, even when there's "no traffic" you're still sitting in traffic.

It is huge, and not very walkable, but since it's so hot when it is walkable... you arrive needing a shower.

    Hartsdale-Jackson.

Lots of sports teams, not much winning.

Did I mention it's hotter than hell there ?  The green spaces (which are nice) are actually voluntary torture pits. So fun for the BDSM crowd I suppose.

Food's good, Better, if you like traditional southern food- which i'm lukewarm to-  for example sweet tea and grits I find gross, collared greens...? they're a-okay.

Atlanta, it sucks today the way Cleveland did 30 years ago...I submitted it to the Chamber of Commerce- still waiting to hear back.

If what you say is true, why are people still moving there? It has two of the best Universities in the country, Emory and Georgia Tech, along with a number of other highly regarded colleges and universities. It's a nicely integrated city. It's offered African-Americans a beacon  to escape the oppression  of the "Old" South. 57% of the population of Atlanta were born north of the Mason-Dixon Line, and more people are moving in every day. Its a big city with big city problems, but it's no worse and probably better than many American cities!

  5. The Bruins just signed Svedberg as their backup goalie for next year. That means that Chad Johnson will be a UFA. Although it has taken him awhile to mature, his last two years work has been impressive. At the right price, I think he would look good in O&B. He might even give Mason a run for his money. Competition is always good.

  6. @flyercanuck  Anyone who takes an offensive player over Aaron at the draft in Philly deserves to troll in a quagmire of losing. He is the real deal, anytime you combine the best shut down talent with a wickedly high offensive ceiling AND awesome size, that is a winning formula. The shut down skill makes him a lock to be a legit NHL talent, the offense propels him into the guaranteed star stratosphere. Exblad has can't miss written all over him. He is not only the best player, he is the safest pick....a GM's dream.

Was not around when the Colts got knocked out, what happened....just curious, what is your take?

Jammer, Thanks for the incite. Ekblat apparently is the whole package. A once in a generation defenceman. Any guesses what the Flyers would have to give up, to get him (assuming the No1 pick is available)?

  7. Really good question/s. This defense is s l o w and o l d. Coburn is a good 2-3 defesseman. Age has caught up with Timmo. Schenn is a slow 2-4 defenseman. Grossmann was really good when he first came over from Dallas, but age and injuries have taken their toll. Streit and McDonald are mobile decent 2-4 defensemen. They do not have a true 1-2 defenseman at this time. Not a pretty picture. I really think that the Flyers have finally learned that you have to build through the draft and hold on to those draft choices.

I'm really excited about the future Flyers defense. Ghost, Hagg, Morin, Alt, Gus, maybe the Russian, Vaseliev and  Larrsen. Additionally, I would not be surprised if they traded for a high draft pick this Summer and went after a d'man, or baring that they trade for a true number 1 d'man. Given time for this group to mature and meld together, and I think that Mason will have a super defense in front of him in 2-3 years.

If the Flyers do go heavily for defense this Summer, my only worry is what will the forwards look like in five years?  BTW: Are there any good European d'men and or forwards who might be lured to Philly?

  8. Would love the Flyers to trade Coburn to get a chance at this kid....its a stretch but i'm tied of Cobrun...get what ya can for him.  Kid is big got a booming shot and NHL size to boot...would love this prospect. Not saying put him on the Flyers next year just want him on the farm.

Can you imagine Ghost and Ekblad on the same blueline?
