  1. It was my impression that there has already been a move away from that type of equipment, at the pro level at least.
  2. Enough to give him a one-way contract. I wonder how many other teams turned down his request for a one-way. Minny did apparently. Love his game. $10 says Cooter scores on his breakaway.
  3. Sure, fair enough. But the reason he cannot use his skills may have as much to do with his lack of hockey IQ as it does with lacking heart or whatever. That is, he doesn' know and can't figure out how to use them. I think he is dumb as a post.
  4. I have some extra wool I could send you.
  5. "When I hear the word "system" I reach for my gun" - famous saying
  6. As it is, Isn't Bob tops at $1.7M for backups?
  7. I could see a team like the Blues going after Iginla. They have some nice young prospects and score by committee so they could use a RH sniper
  8. You young'uns and your phrases crack me up.
  9. Oh, it's a scenery problem alright. When Bryz looks out from the goal, apparently all he sees is the vast expanse of the universe, with nary a puck in sight.
  10. Yeah, good point @AlaskaFlyerFan At this point in the discussion I would like to declare my 61% mark in Grade 12 physics.
  11. He seems to be doing some things right in St. Louis, so fair enough. However, I'm constantly reminded of Babcock's comment to Hitch, Ruff and Lemaire, during the selection process for the last Cdn Olympic team. They were all circle jerking around a white board with various Xs and Os and he said the equivalent of: "pfft, just get the puck and keep it." I have been a subscriber to that view since I was 5 and see no reason to doubt it now.
  12. I have no problem with trying to win the game by dominating the neutral zone. When we do, we are the best team in hockey. Does it have risks, sure, but those come from execution failures and failure of everyone to be on the same page. That is what Lavi should be judged by, not Xs and Os on a board. Oh man, if I knew we were gonna be talking systems again, I'd have brought some ludes and a pillow.
  13. @Phlyer1 - never heard that one before. I guess I oughta listen to more country music...
  14. Agreed. But speaking as a fantasy owner of Miller, he has been exactlylike chopped liver this year. Last night was a rare exception and it was warmly appreciated and duly celebrated with drinks all around.
  15. I only speak true words. And cuss words. Often I try and combine them, as in: "Your damn ******* right I'm right. f**k."
  16. It's especailly nice when you can have your cake and eat it too. Alas.....
  17. @JackStraw - well, it's not exactly baking a cake, but whatever works I say
  18. I say we put Bryzgiveupgoalov on a Russian rocket on an all expenses trip, complete with girls on pogo sticks, 72 foot plasmas etc to the International Space Station. Based on what we know about Russian technology, the chances he arrives at the Station are average at best. If he doesn't arrive it's force majeur and his salary won't count toward the cap hit.
  19. Profound. Ice with water on top of it is not ice. It is ice with water on top of it. If there's enough of it (water on ice), it stops the puck dead in it's tracks, almost always. Hockey players are accustomed to dealing with this, at the beginning of periods etc, but it can still happen if you are not careful, or if you handle the puck like Dan Carcillo. Just sayin'
  20. So basically you are saying that a centre taking faceoffs in hockey is like a long snapper in football? Yeah, I can see that.
