Why would Sutter want to coach this bunch of misfits in Philly, versus Calgary...even if Gaudreau leaves Calgary to join the Flyers?
Confused, eh? The picture of Sutter is in the signature line. The post is about Cassidy

I haven’t seen if the Dept of Player Safety is looking at the play for possible supplemental discipline.
EDIT: Kane will have a hearing today. Why did it take so long to announce it?

What would be the point of this? It's not a game suspension. It was a game misconduct, removing him and his scumbag shenanigans from that game, as should have been called.
A game misconduct is recorded as 10 minutes on the players record. It would remove the time from the team’s and the player’s penalty time. It is also a way for the NHL to indicate they got that call wrong without really apologizing.7 hours ago, FireDillabaugh said:Completely disagree. The proper calls were made. And, that's because of the head contact that was made by a cheap, dirty player that Lucic is known to be. There was one objective in his actions. And, if anything, the contact deserved a hearing and a fine. The proper calls on ice were made.
Agree to disagree. There was one objective, to get possession of the puck. If his intent was to run the goalie he wouldn’t have slowed down.

I’m going to make a prediction: it doesn’t happen often but the NHL is going to rescind the game misconduct penalty on Lucic.
Here is my reasoning:
Smith was going to send the puck behind the net (probably a fake) then decided instead to put the puck in the corner to his left. If he would’ve continued to send the puck behind the net ther wouldn’t have been any contact at all. There was enough room for Lucic between Smith and the net for Lucic to get through. When Smith changed his mind, Lucic tried to change his course but he was already committed. You can see the snow spray from Lucic trying to stop. Lucic’ s left skate clipped Smith’s skate that caused both players to lose their balance, Lucic going forward and Smith backwards. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not blaming Smith for the contact. Yes, there was some shoulder to head contact, but not much, IMHO. Smith lost his helmet when he fell but didn’t hit his head on the boards or the ice. I don’t believe there was any intent by Lucic to even hit Smith let alone intent that would rise to a 5 min major and game misconduct.
I think two reasons they called it that way was first due to the over-reaction of the concussion spotter saying that Smith had to be evaluated. That fulfilled the “injury” part of the rule even though there really was no injury. The second reason was to control the game without a slew of penalties the rest of the way.
I think it should’ve only been a 2 min minor.

Why do I get the distinct feeling that the same thing is going to happen with this coach search that happened when AV got hired. Trots will get hired by another team and Fletcher will come out and say “We didn’t even talk to him” just like when Quenneville got hired by Florida.
EDIT: italicized my edit

He got his ice time because he used to be able to produce some points while on the ice and used to be somewhat capable of moving and passing the puck. NEVER because of his defensive prowess.
I don’t disagree with any of your post but think it is important to point out that in the modern NHL, what separates the elite defensemen from the average is their offensive game. The Norris Trophy is awarded to the offensive defensemen (don’t twist my words, I’m not saying Yandle should’ve ever been considered for the Norris).Yandle was (<—-key word) always up there in points while he never really played on an elite team when he was producing.

He is sick so it more than likely is his choice to not play.
Where are you seeing that he's sick? I don't see that anywhere. This article says it was a management decision to get the young guys some ice time.

Seeler held his own and even bloodied up Delauriers in that fight. That might end up being the highlight of the game for the Flyers!

A French fry with Old Bay or similar seasoning served with a cheddar sauce.
They are crazy delicious and were a very good idea.

Toss.
Serve with classy cheese food product sauce in plastic cup attached to Li'l Big Gulp size fries.
Step 3) Profit.
Step 3a) sue any MFer anywhere at any time that would call adding old bay to french fries crab fries.

Coots catching to old friends...
Interesting that Coots is traveling with the team. Does that mean he is nearing a return? -

Great question is there a limit?
I hope Chuck does see this.
I believe a team can have 2 A and 1 C or 3 A.

this team is three to five years away, from being three to five years away.
WTF?!? Trading Giroux added years to the away-ness? But the 1st rounder the Flyers got for him is 2 years away. That should’ve kept them in the 2 years away range! I liked it better when we thought they were 2 years away from being 2 years away.- 2

Maybe it’s his way of saying he’s homesick.

I was surprised to see Brass playing.
I think he's on his way out too.
One can only hope… -
Florida is now the Flyers South. Giroux, Gudas, Hagg, Bobrovsky, Bunnaman, & Rubstov. Plus they are still paying on Yandle’s buy-out.

MacEwen got high sticked in the last game and it broke his tooth. The ref only called a 2-min penalty on the Sens. A little while later, he spit the rest of the tooth out.

Good news though.
However i will say Braun is playing some of his best hockey since he has been in Philly right now. Good for him he has been a good soldier. I wish him well.
Braun won’t be going to the Leafs, anyways. They just acquired Giordano from Seattle. Not sure what other teams are looking for defensive depth.

-The return is definitely light; there's no two ways about it.
-If Friedman's reporting is correct, and Florida was the only team Giroux would waive for, then Fletcher's big mistake was letting Montreal jump the line and get all of the goodies before the Flyers could.
-I hope that I've built enough goodwill around here to say this and for folks to know that I'm not trolling: your management team badly needs to go.
-The Panthers had better win, because they've completely emptied the cupboards now.
Go away, Troll !! Kidding. I agree with @pilldoc. I value your level opinion on here.I totally agree with you, however, I will add that for a couple weeks Tippett has been talked about as, at least part of, the return for Giroux.

Wow...Fletcher managed to make a worse trade than the Risto one. That's not easy. Why are we adding to Giroux on an already lousy deal while taking on capspace? I know we don't need the space. I know it's only a 5th. I know it's only Bunnamen and Rubstov. But it's always the other team getting more out of Fletch. Always.
Congrats Chuck Fletcher...you're the #1 worst GM in all of professional sports.

Senior advisors and the CEO need to go as well. This is beyond embarrassing. And the more I look at this, the more I see the influence of Bobby Clarke and it's not good. This is a farce and you can bet two things are going to happen. First, Fletcher will say that this is the best deal he could arrange and that we're really building a forward core based on size and speed. Second, expect the Flyers to throw Giroux under a bus by saying "he'd only waive for Florida" and "he didn't want to go anywhere else." And you can bet the media shills like Meltzer, Myrtytus, Carchidi, etc... are all going to buy into this narrative. I'm ashamed to be a Flyers fan right now. They are officially the worst run franchise in all of professional sports. I'm devastated.

I didn’t realize the exchange rate applied to years. I thought it was only money.
it’s *only* been 47 years.
