Turnover in the zone ties this game up. Zubrus scores it. Holtby way out of position or at least caught off guard by the turnover.

Back to a 1 goal lead. Who is this Marek Zidlicky anyway? He has two goals tonight. Holtby is starting to allow his quota of goals for tonight.

God Jagr is still awesome at the age of what 95? He just scored to make it a 1 goal lead for the Caps.

Fast Break goal by Joel Ward gives the Caps a 3-1 lead. Marty Brodeur had no chance on that one. If the Caps play like this in the upcoming 3rd period they can put this one in the win column. Just the way I like it.

What a play to give the Capitals a 2-1 lead. Grabovski from Brouwer gets it past Marty. This is what I call good Caps play.

Finally breaks past Brodeur. Jason Chimera with a wrap around goal to tie this game all up.

Holtby settles down a bit and only allows the one goal in the 1st period. Hopefully the Caps can get by Marty Brodeur as he looks like he is on his game tonight. Shots on goal in the 1st period is: Capitals-10 and the Devils-7 shots.

I hope Holtby can do better the rest of the game than he did on the first shot on the power play. Zidlicky scores on a slapper.

Just watched the fight and I have to say I loved it. I can't wait to watch me some women's hockey come Olympic time.

This is the first of four games. The Devils won two of three last season, with the Capitals triumphant in the second of two straight at Verizon Center over three days in February. Hopefully the Capitals can keep up there winning ways winning back to back contests and taking this first game of the year versus the Devils. Players to watch for the Caps are Alexander Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom. Can they continue their magic together on back to back nights. Probable Goalies are Holtby and Brodeur. My prediction: Capitals 3 Devils 2

There goes another power play goal for the Capitals tonight. That makes 3. The Caps have one of the best if not the best power play out there. Troy Brouwer scores this one to give the Capitals a 3-2 lead.

MoJo gets the equalizer on an early power play in the 2nd period.

Jordan Staal is the only player to light the lamp to give the Hurricanes a period one lead 1-0. The Caps are getting outshot 13-10 at the end of the 1st period.

So far both netminders have been awesome. Might be a low scoring game if they both can keep up this play.
