  1. Not if they keep winning games, they need to go on their typical 10 games losing streak to get back in the sweepstakes for Bedard. Now if Chuck Fletcher somehow doesn't **** up the trade deadline and manages to get rid of some players for picks then the losing may come a lot easier after the deadline. But other teams like Arizona, Columbus and Chicago will be trying to do the same thing. So the Flyers' chances of ending up with the first overall are slim to none.
  2. Took me 8 tries for the Flyers to get number 1
  3. I don't remember but Patrick Roy didn't get 2 first round draft picks when he got traded back in the 90's. As for trading Hart, the team that would trade for him would be a contender so those picks would be late first round picks which really wouldn't help the Flyers rebuild. They always say you build a team from the goalie outwards so the Flyers have a goalie to build around, now it's putting the pieces in front of him. Unfortunately, Fletcher isn't the man you want building that team.
  4. If I'm not mistaken he's 24 years old, so in the next 6 to 10 years he'll be coming into his prime years as a goalie. If the Flyers management can't build a contending team around him in that time period then Flyers fans are screwed. The Flyers finally got a goalie so why would you want to trade him.
  5. Grateful, I was being sarcastic but if the Flyers aren't going to make the playoffs I'd rather see them end up dead last to get the 1st overall pick then just miss the playoffs and get a middle 1st round pick.
  6. I think you have hit it on the head for the majority of fans on this forum and the majority of die-hard Flyers fans in general, the current management has taken the passion out of the fanbase and unfortunately I don't see it changing anytime soon. Something has to happen to slap this management in the head to wake them up. I've watched one Flyers game this year to see how Hart is playing and it was hard to watch this team play. I miss the teams of the 70's and 80's and the Legion of Doom line of the mid to late 90's. Being 55 years old and a Flyers fan for almost 50 years I'm not holding my breathe that the Flyers will ever win another Stanley Cup before I pass away.
  7. Awesome post, anyone old enough to remember, CoachX description of the current Flyers is a lot like the Ballad's Leafs in the 70's and early 80's. Ballad didn't give a **** about the Leafs fanbase because he knew if he dressed 20 monkeys in Leafs uniforms the old Maple Leafs gardens would still sell out every night. Until the Flyers fanbase stays away from the arena, Scott and Comcast won't care about putting a competitive team on the ice.
  8. This team can't even tank properly to get the 1st overall pick, pathetic.
  9. I want the Flyers to keep losing not get more points. I hope there is a hockey god and the Blackhawks finish dead last but it's the Flyers who end up with the 1st overall pick (Bedard) to make up for the 2007 draft when the Flyers lost Patrick Kane.
  10. Wow, the Flyers end up making a game of it, cheap call against the Flyers in the last minute of the game. But another loss closer to hopefully Bedard.
  11. This is the million dollar question, will the Flyers brain trust build a competitive team in front of Hart. The Flyers finally have a homegrown goalie that they can build around with and hopefully they don't **** it up but my confidence in management isn't great.
  12. I don't think it was Snider who thought you didn't need an elite goalie to win the cup it was Bobby Clarke who Snider thought of as a son and always took him at his word. Clarke probably thought he was more responsible for the Flyers winning the two cups in the seventies and not Bernie Parent!
  13. Mark Hunter is the reason the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Mitch Marner instead of Hanifan. Hunter would be a good choice for GM or Pronger would be a good choice for GM. Briere would be a good choice for head of hockey ops.
  14. I don't disagree with your reply, I'm hoping for a true rebuild but let's be honest with this Flyers Front Office being so ****ed up it wouldn't surprise me to see Fletcher do something stupid like trade for Tkachuk. That's why I asked the question.
  15. According to reports, Matthew Tkachuk has informed the Flames that he won't resign long term with Calgary so should the Flyers try to trade for Tkachuk?
  16. I don't have a problem with this trade especially if that means Ellis is done. If that is true then maybe Fletcher can trade his contract to a team who needs the cap hit. As for the 2 year deal for Tony at least it's short term. As for Tort's it will be interesting to see how he is with Tony.
  17. If Savoie is still there at 5, then Fletcher should pick him but it wouldn't surprise me to see Fletcher trade the 5th overall for a quick fix.
  18. Agreed, Torts is coming in to kick some asses and hold these players accountable for their play which isn't a bad thing. If things go off the rail next season at least the post game press conferences will be fun to watch with Torts. So what's the odds Fletcher trades the 5th overall pick for a quick fix.
  19. I'd love to see both stay and Provorov have a full year with a veteran partner, but it wouldn't surprise me if Fletcher trades one of them this summer. It would be great to see players we draft and development stay with the Flyers instead of having to trade for players.
  20. Provorov has 3 years left @ $6.75 per year and Sanheim has 1 year left @ $4.675, if one is to be traded who would you like the Flyers to keep. Provorov seemed to regress and Sanheim had a good second half. Sanheim seems to have more potential but we didn't see what Provorov could do with a veteran partner like Ellis for a full year (which may not be possible going forward). What would the majority of Flyers fans on the forum want to see happen.
  21. Bruce Cassidy was fired by the Boston Bruins, would he be a coach for the Flyers?
  22. Fair enough, the Flyers management will continue to use the injuries excuse to justify their stupidity.
  23. It's simple Fletcher has no plan going forward, he's just winging it. If he had a plan to rebuild properly then he wouldn't have signed Risto to the 5 year extension he would have traded him at the deadline for picks. Yes the Rangers had some luck but they had a plan to rebuild or retool as they like to call it.
