  1. I wonder if they are interested in a deal for Price???
  2. LOL. Subban is no Webber. I suspect the Preds fans will soon be quite teed off... I hate to say it, but the Habs win this one.
  3. Jeeze JR, that's just hockey. Gutless puke? LOL. He was just delivering a message and I believe it was received. No penalty, no foul.
  4. Jeeze guys - it's a mans' sport. Even in baseball nice guys finish last. I'd have given the kid 2 for diving and a soother - sorry. Can't take it seriously - no penalty was even called. P.S. would the language in that article link be Finnish?
  5. What a dumb-ass. He obviously believes that he can continue to disrespect his team and get yet another contract from another team down the road, because he has the talent. I disagree. I think the Sabres are his last hope and he'd better pull up his socks and grow up. Someone once said "youth is so wasted on the young". Applies in spades here.
  6. Canada had been caught out for sure. When the series moved to Moscow, we had to win 3 of four games in their arena. On the big ice. With inferior and slanted officiating. With spearing, kicking, and butt-ending by the Soviets going uncalled. Everything was in their favor. Or was it? I can remember it like it was yesterday. There were approximately 3000 Canada fans there but they sounded like 15000. I can still remember the looks on the faces of the Soviet fans, the officials, and even the Soviet players. They had never seen anything like it for sure; and it helped. It was the greatest hockey I ever witnessed still to this day. In the end we learned our lesson well, and for the Soviets - so did they. They were stunned. I have no doubt that the powers that were at that time in Moscow were completely convinced that their style of play could not be defeated. They were sure they were going to win and strike a blow for their political views. It still feels good today....
  7. Just askin' here. Are you guys OK with Panarin being classified as a "rookie"? Isn't it high time we drop the "NHL is the only real pro league in the world" thing and admitted that Panarin is no rookie? The KHL really is a 'pro' hockey league? I can accept that maybe it's just old me, but I think Larkin (or possibly even McDavid) are getting 'screwed'. How about you guys?
  8. @radoran I hear you. I can still clearly recall the awful arguments and name-calling that went on when this issue came up originally. Maybe we should leave a sleeping dog lie?
  9. I'm just agreeing with what Scott said. He was already an established pro, not a true rookie. IMHO that's why he has the 'record'. I'm also saying I agree that using whatever the NHL's 'criteria' was, Gretzky should have won in his rookie year as Scott also said. Typical NHL.
  10. To be fair Selanne was not a rookie per se. He was an NHL rookie, yes, but a 'rookie'? No. If you take him out of the picture (the NHL should have done that back then), who is next?
  11. This team has to stop the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde thing. They have zero talent and if they don't play hard every game and every shift they will get their head handed to them.

  12. Great piece, Prof. As a Leafs fan I am glad to see them getting their due. I also point out that they made the biggest move of all the teams, and in the correct direction. Carey price is back and I bet next month will find the Habs on the top (bottom) of this list. The biggest surprise so far, to me, is the Buffalo Sabres. I was sure they'd finish dead last this year but it doesn't look that way at the moment..
  13. Actually, I saw lots of other rankings that I didn't agree with, BUT, I like this idea. It gives some very good talking points.
  14. How the NHL landscape has changed over the years. Leafs have no scoring at all. But, Habs #1? Seriously? And I think you should flip #6 and #7. Parity = mediocrity = boring.... NHL = No Hitting League. We need a juggernaut to make things interesting.....
  15. One of my all-time favourite teams to watch. As much of a Leafs fan as I was then (and still am), I really enjoyed watching these guys play. That was hockey! Led by Bernie Parent and Bob Clarke. Sorry to see those days go.....
