  1. I don't know... As much as I like the physicality of hockey, the fights also of course, I'm still struggling with the concept of set-up organized fights. I don't know what it clearly brings and what's the value-added in those. A fight has to come from a sequence of events, a rivalry, animosity, even retaliation (but not on a good legal hit). It has to come from the heart, like two guys that dislike (but respect in the meantime) each other. Maybe the Rempe guy has a real potential and can become a legit NHLer -- at least in today's hockey you have to contribute even if you are an enforcer, but I prefer a Cuylle type of guy that hits a lot and add physicality in this way rather than piling up PIM from fighting major.
  2. Makes complete sense. I'm currently watching the Lightning-Senators game, I'm taking a special attention at those jersey and these are absolutely sharp. They have that great blue bottom-right shadowing on the numbers I didn't notice before along with the white-blue-grey stripes. The 3D lightning on the pants are great too. These really look like the 2004 scheme and for me, that reflects Tampa's true identity. Maybe (hopefully) they will do like Vegas or Calgary and switch those jerseys from alternate to the home main ones because they are much better.
  3. So the League's top team allowed 10 goals. That's interesting. Some solid goaltending along with strong and disciplined defensive structure in this game. Fleury was the best goalie and ran away with a 6-save win and a a .750 efficiency.
  4. All completely valid points there. And in a sense, yeah of course, I would be nice to have an "official" world cup of hockey with the 8, 10 or 12 best nations. In soccer it's easier and also it's more of a cultural thing to have that big event every four years in summer while all national championships are on holiday break. Soccer is a worldwide universal sport whereas hockey is still a niche game. In an ideal world, it would be nice to see an ice hockey world cup every two or four years outside the NHL calender, but the challenges are huge and go beyond the who, where, and more importantly: when. It's still a winter sport and as much as I love this sport, it is also good to have a break in summer and care about something else. The FIFA World Cup trophy is most wanted one, in hockey it's the Stanley. Such event is very difficult to put in place. Even in Europe, they tried to have some sort of a Champions League with the best european teams but it's a pain in the arse. It existed in the early 1990s, then it was cancelled for lack of interest and support, then they tried a revamp version but nobody really cares. It messes up all different calenders and teams don't want to have extra games and travelling in an already busy schedule.
  5. I'm the even smaller minority who says "f**k the IOC, I hate to see the NHL stop with its players going to this sh!tshow circus" For the past decades, the Olympic comittee has become so much involved into politics, acting like parrot spokesmen of debatable regimes thar are running to show to the world who has the most money. I really liked the 1994 Lillehammer Winter games, human size, very friendly people rooting for anyone, ecological, etc. But it has turned worse and worse. I guess we should be looking forward to the 2044 Dubai or Qatar Winter games... So yeah, I despise this farce. Pierre de Coubertin should be turning mad in his grave.
  6. @TropicalFruitGirl26 It completely went under my radar but I noticed that the Lightning played with a new alternate jersey. This one is much better that the previous boring black/gray one even though I'm not a big fan of round logos in general. On the other hand, Tampa doesn't have a real distinct alternate logo on their own. To be honest, having the skull Buccaneers-like as the main crest would have killed it. Too bad they don't go further with this.
  7. Sure! We potted nine against the poor Preds, one goal shy of the "stänggeli". (but maybe it was against the "code" to score double-digit goals...)
  8. About time. The Babcock signing, the Gaudreau signing, the Laine trade... the list is long. By far the worst GM in exercise. Now I'm wondering how this will affect Vincent's job as a coach. Because the use of players like Fantilli and Jiricek has been atrocious so far.
  9. Well, the topic remains red hot. Another opposite statements there: André Tourigny: "Completely disrespectful from Greig, you don't do that and he should've known. Reilly shouldn't have reacted that way but I understand it" Philippe Boucher: "The code? What's the f**king code? I have been playing for 17 years in this League and I still don't know what it is. Btw, Greig was completely right. It's the battle of Ontario, let's rise it and give a good show"
  10. Of course, what a classless gutless and despisable move by Eriksson Ek to score the empty-netter not only with the backhand, but with ONE hand like he was pretending to be Crosby. Completely inappropriate and tasteless in a total lack of respect. Moreover, he got the nerve to steal the puck from the Vegas player who played at home, in his arena! I'm shocked that no one one ran after him and cross-checked him right in the neck like he deserved to.
  11. Yeah I was pissed when he didn't re-sign with the Stars even though he was already downtrending. He's pretty good as an analyst on TVA Sports right now and never uses gloves when he speaks (he completely assumes his Golden Knights hatred for example). Still funny to ear his France french accent with the couple of Québec terms in the middle of it.
  12. @TropicalFruitGirl26 Haha, just watched almost two hours on that topic on all angles. Antoine Roussel and Maxim Lapierre, two identical type of players when they were in the League, completely disagreed: Roussel was all on the Leafs' side, giving Reilly a 2-game suspension max, Lapierre said he would have shot harder while making a 360-michigan, and giving at least 10 games to Reilly lol. I'm wondering how fans in Centre Bell would have reacted if Greig had done it in Montréal...
  13. I mean... Montréal fans... you know, the self-claimed best fanbase of the galaxy.
  14. Montréal fans that are still putting this in front of the scene to prevent any return of the NHL in Québec City.
  15. Is it part of the code to retaliate because Greig made an empty-netter slapshot instead of simply letting the puck go in? So what's the limit? 60 mph? is a wrister ok? Reilly should get a 35-game suspension, just to prevent such epic BS thing to happen ever again. If this pisses you, just try to win the game first...
  16. I don't think there's an intent to deliberately injure. It's a play along the boards, Acciari saw Dillon coming, but Dillon made an upward motion that led to a check with the head as the first contact point. If he had bent over and target the body, it's a hard but clean hit. Dillon was a bit dumb on that one because there was no need to lift your body up like that. A two, maybe three-game suspension IMO. (But again, George Parros is still the boss of the Departement... so expect anything from that point.)
  17. Zegras is the most overrated player right now. Scoring michigans doesn't make you win Stanley Cups. If some teams have the objective to go for a deep run, he's the last player to go after. @JR Ewing I remember that goal. Wasn't the one where Ovie let himself slide on the whole rink length during the season where he had the League's worst +/- at something like -38 ?
  18. This one was written all over the place, Habs fans must be all fulminating right now. That being said, if Monahan is back with Montréal this summer, Hughes will be seen of the new God in place. If not, ouch...
  19. I think it's always good to digest a trade before and try to see the whole picture. First, I thought that the Canucks lost their minds, but it's really not that silly overall. Vancouver had a hole on the 2C position and on the PP as weel, as they don't seem willing to play Pettersson as a full natural center. Kuzmenko is a 0.0098-dimensional and overrated player that could fourish in another environment. I understand this in a salary dump persepctive, as the Kuzmenko had one more year on his contract. The fact that Lindholm is not willing to re-sign immediately, making him a pure rental is something that bugs me a bit and the price to get him is still a bit too much IMO. But that's the risk you have to take if you think you can go on a run and not miss the train. Now, let the dominos fall !
  20. @JR Ewing I love your analogies. I hope you won't charge me royalties fees if I'm using them in french in some other context
  21. All aboard with this as well. Not to mention that the social media environment contribute to feed the devil and make things worse and out of control. That's why I truly despise the Facebook, X, Instagram and TikTok of this world and I think these platforms are really toxic for the humanity in general. (Did I mention AI? Let's let the scariest for later...)
  22. I mean, there's no smoke without fire. The case is known since 2018 and a financial agreement was found with Hockey Canada just a bit later to hide the dust under the rug. There must have been some sort of non publication order but the players involved were already targeted. Formenton was a good prospect in the Sens organization, someone that could have been like Pinto or Greig let's say. And all of a sudden, he literally ran away in the Switzerland butthole. Went there several times in this deep valley with almost no sunshine in winter, you have to be strong to not turn into Jack Torrance. In 2022, his team was already severly criticized when they decided to sign him knowing what was pending above his head, and all this finally backfired straight in his face. So either the Flames were not aware of that and they are naive to say the least, or they didn't do their due diligence on that matter. Another assumption is that Dubé went with the mental health assistance program thing with the hope that no one would notice... Either way, that's definitely ridiculous and trying to extinguish a fire with a barrel of gasoline is never a good idea.
  23. I don't buy this at all. It's impossible that the Flames were not aware of that.
