  1. I can’t imagine he’d sit Deslauriers. Not that Reaves will shy away from running anyone but at least Tortorella’s got an answer in the lineup. Thanks @Cheesesteak and @OccamsRazor fingers crossed https://the.streameast.app/nhlstreams does the trick. In my experience they all connect but I’ve never been able to watch an entire game with just one. Here's a couple more I had luck with occasionally: https://thesportsurge.net/nhlstreams/schedule https://www.vipleague.la/hockey-sports-stream First click they usually open a new window and take you to some b.s. Try a few times eventually you'll get game links.
  2. Damn another streaming-only game? What a PITA fiddling with those sketchy websites… This one I really want to see too. Marner is day-to-day but the Flyers will have their hands full regardless. They need to keep winning on home ice…bring back the “Philly flu” …
  3. @Howie58 good lord what made you think of those 2? What I remember most about Hatcher when the Flyers signed him was one word: Now? Nothing against the guy he had a fine career with Dallas but like a lot of Holmgren’s acquisitions long past his prime when the Flyers got him.
  4. @OccamsRazor Yeah I appreciate his honesty too. A PP that scores above 12% would be better... Who's running the Phantoms' PP? Didn't you post recently that they'd been tearing it up lately? Somebody has got to get the Flyers' PP working. It doesn't matter this year but eventually it will - can't keep wasting them the way the Flyers do. I keep saying Joe Mullen - last time I looked there was nothing current about him online. Never mind I found him...coaching a 3ICE league team - at least he was last year I didn't read the whole thing...Team Mullen. Go figure. https://thehockeywriters.com/3ice-league-best-part-of-hockey/
  5. That's the story right there - why it was so close. 6 penalties in the first 30 minutes...Sharks' PP is their one bright spot and scored twice. Flyers took no penalties in the 3rd. Tippett's GWer was a beautiful set play. Tippett said he and TK made eye contact while Tippett was high in the zone and took it from there. Flyers had 6 on 5 on the delayed Sharks' call so maybe a seam like that isn't there - or closes quickly - 5 on 5. But those 2 have some magic together. Couturier centering them is a good line but eventually...the Flyers need a top-line center.
  6. @flyercanuck Thanks for elaborating on the "choice" thing... got ya. Maybe the Senior Advisors are still directing traffic, whispering in Briere's ear. It seems to me that crew is out of the decision-making process since you never hear from them. But that could be by design... Nobody has to tell Briere what it means to fall this-short of winning the Cup. That alone doesn't make a good GM but hopefully it's important to his process. He's clearly rejected the "blow it up" path and I agree that makes it tougher to build a Cup winner. Tougher but maybe not impossible. That's really all I got - faith, hope - that he and Jones aren't trying the impossible.
  7. So trading a 4th for Johnson means “we want to make the POs” and that’s a bad thing? C’mon you know how many injuries the Flyers are dealing with on their back end. They were at emergency callup level until somebody joined the team. They needed another D-man, POs or no POs. I don’t minimize the value of draft picks regardless what round. A 4th for Johnson made good sense to me. But maybe you’re talking more about the overall direction you see Briere taking the team…?
  8. That is one goofy graph…lol sorry nothing personal …. e.g. Frost’s “Offense” was real good but his “On-Ice Offense” not so much.
  9. what’s this refer to? Sorry, brain freeze or something… Right. Exactly. And I don’t understand why (for some fans) what he’s done so far precludes this.
  10. Except none of us have a time machine so to say there’s a choice btw a PO appearance and a higher draft pick makes no sense to me in March 2024. If I seem to be hounding you about this it’s only bc you normally make a lot of sense. Even when I don’t share your opinion I understand it - not this time. Did you mean if you could go back and start over? Is that the idea? Btw if you’re right, if Briere and Co. are all glad handing each other after a 1R exit and next year they start blowing out the prospects, renting/buying FAs to “go for it” …. I can’t even think about it.
  11. Good team D the final minutes everybody chipping in blocking shots, taking hits to make the pass… Flyers have a gauntlet of tough teams coming up this month. Boston twice Toronto twice, FL, Carolina and the Rangers.
  12. Wicked toe save by Ersson before Tippett’s goal. Glad to see him bounce back he looks like the Ersson we got used to this year.
  13. another PP goal against.... Sharks don't win many games but their PP is pretty decent.
  14. You can only play the hand you're dealt. Briere's presided over 1 draft day as GM. He took over a team with a couple long-term contracts that are unmovable w/out giving up valuable assets. The "franchise goalie" is gone and never coming back. He extended Seeler, traded Gauthier for Drysdale...you know the list... the point is all the rest (besides the HC) is in flux, as it should be. You didn't think the Flyers would have a pipeline full of talent in Year One did you? Of course not. You wanted Briere to create a team that would lose a ton of games for a few years. Finish low draft high. You're convinced that's the only legit rebuild. Maybe you're right. Briere didn't do that but he didn't do the opposite. Nothing he's said or done shows he's "going for it" - or that he ever had any intention of "going for it." Unless he's one helluva liar. I'm not drinking kool-aid. The jury is still out and nobody knows whether Briere's Flyers will win the Cup in the foreseeable future. But I refuse to complain about an exciting team with a rookie GM trying their best to make it happen.
  15. btw that’s not a real quote is it? I don’t know TLY from Adam is it like The Onion or something?
  16. Isn’t a big reason the goaltenders he’s got? I barely follow the Phantoms so I’m asking not arguing. It just struck me as I read your post that Lappy doesn’t have much in the way of goalie choices, particularly now that Sandstom is with the Flyers till the end of the season (I assume).
  17. I wish you weren’t so determined to view every trade as confirmation, as “proof” that Flyers’ management is either clueless or deliberately lying to us. Don’t you think they’re as surprised as anyone how well the team’s played this year? The way you worded this implies Briere had a choice between making the POs and acquiring talent. But that’s not what happened … as you well know. Given the success of this roster - very likely PO-bound - what Briere did at the TD makes perfect sense. He couldn’t dismantle the team in hopes of scoring a lottery pick could he? Of course not. Aside from the injuries the Flyers are in a good place right now. Whatever happens these final few weeks will be a valuable lesson for the players, coaches, for the whole organization.
  18. I haven’t looked at which goalies are UFA but maybe Briere will try for another 1/1A tandem like he had with Hart/Ersson. Ersson is another reason why I hope the Flyers make the POs. He’ll get every game and how he plays will factor into Briere’s targets.
  19. I think he was talking to me. He has been good this year, good enough anyway in a 12-15 mins role. And the Flyers sure could use him now…
  20. What’s with Drysdale week to week I haven’t seen any updates since he got hurt. Zamula didn’t practice yesterday either he may still be sick. Sanheim is good to go and Tortorella said the Flyers will have 6 D-men tonight - they recalled Ginning. I hope the Flyers can hold onto a PO spot. After the year they put in it’ll suck if they lose steam at the very end. You’re right it won’t be easy, some real good teams ahead in the schedule.
  21. The Flyers ought to improve their record tonight against a team with a GF/GA differential of -111. The next worst team is the Hawks with a -95. speaking of GF/GA the Flyers slipped below EVEN after the 7-0 drubbing by TB. All year they've been a +5 or better - now they're a -2.
  22. Holy cow really? That's surprising. Well they should have at least 6 D-men ready to go ... I assume Ersson will start - he needs a bounce-back game as bad as they all do. Meanwhile the Isles keep winning...only 2 points behind the Flyers now. I don't much care whether the Flyers get a 3 seed or a WC spot but I do hope they make it.
  23. If you feel like it here’s an easy way to qualify: You watched them during the Giroux years so you know what the Flyers were about for a long time. They were basically the same mediocre team prior to the 2023 TD. After the TD they called up some fresh faces, Foerster had a helluva debut, Giroux and Voracek were gone so take those ~25 games out of the equation. Now watch any 3 games from this season either past or upcoming and you’ll see the difference right away. Unless you happen to pick 3 real duds - and there’s been a few this year, like last night - you’ll qualify.
  24. Oh god just ridiculous… and there are so many more. The one thing that stands out is the hypocrisy and inconsistency of the “supplemental discipline” handed out by the NHL DOPS. I know AHL/NHL officials get reviewed and graded all the time. They should let the process be transparent and available to the fans (whoever “they” are exactly). There’s not much info about it online and nothing that I can find at NHL.com. Not every detail but something.
  25. pathetic McCauley this whole thing was his fault - 3 horrible calls against the Flyers - 3 in a row IIRC - all in the first 10 minutes of the game. Tortorella wanted an explanation and McCauley wouldn't skate over to the bench. He sent a linesman instead, which I'm sure pissed off Tortorella even more. To eject him from the game was stupid enough but a suspension AND a $50K fine is ridiculous. The NHL embarrassed themselves once again. I don't know how many coaches have been ejected this year - Granato and Keefe (same game) now Tortorella - seems like more than usual but I don't know for sure. Anyway I hope the Flyers' faithful give McCauley hell next time he's in town...!
