  1. this is where I'm at as well. I don't have a lot of faith but until they actually do bad, I'll remain hopeful. That said, if preseason is any indication then oh boy
  2. I miss the Capitals home games pre Ovechkin, cheap seats and every game against the Flyers was basically a Flyers home game instead
  3. by the way, does anyone have a link to vid of the hit, I'd like to see it and can't find it anywhere
  4. I can see it now, "after reviewing the play, it was concluded that we don't make mistakes and the ruling on the ice stands. I agree with you big time on the B.S.ness of the rep thing. Zac has many examples of crushing body checks that are legal and yet he has to go to the box for being him. There's plenty of players who have the rep thing working against them but that doesn't change the fact that it's garbage.
  5. what he said x10!!! I would laugh so hard if this came to be!
  6. nope, just 2 posts prior to yours I wrote: I'm not in love with the amount and I intended to imply that I did think it was a tad high but in my post I also also echoed @dilbert719 sentiment that at least it wasn't as high as it could have been. it did also cross my mind that: and to that, as long as it's for a quality defenseman, I guess that's okay, but for the time being I'm glad he signed here for a non crippling contract. Can this season just start already!
  7. I was curious which direction they were going to go with Read. Glad to see he's staying here. I feel the same. I'm okay with the money being what it is. If I was asked to predict what would be deserved, I'd have guessed lower. However, given the track history of the Flyers, I also feared that we wold grossly overpay to keep him, which this certainly is not. good signing.
  8. that's what I'm afraid of if this will help them get some value for him if he is indeed done as we knew him, that's cool. I get a kick every now and again when a fan acknowledges that pronunciation, even more so when I see a new to me way of spelling it ^_^
  9. I loved the guy's game, I didn't want to give up on him!!! if he remains with the Flyers I'll be totally pulling for him to be who he was. I just hope if he returns to the ice it isn't more of the brand of "I'm afraid of getting hurt again" hockey he was playing when he came back. BTW, if they were to trade him I would be hoping for value, not just a reason to dump him off the team.
  10. please be Mez. that first season where he was a beast was great but since it's been everything but. I'm of the unfortunate belief that he is now way too fragile to be counted on and thus needs to be moved. Such a shame because I really loved his game preinjury
  11. as a fan I want to hold him back. I love hockey but my first team is the Flyers. The Olympics are fun but I haven't spent my lifetime as a hockey fan dreaming of the day team USA wins the gold, I've been dreaming of the day I get to witness the Flyers hoist the cup (I was alive the last time they did it but just barely) so as far as I'm concerned, let all the Flyers stay home and rest / recover from injuries and be ready to go for the rest of the season.
  12. eh hem, let's not forget CoreStates Center, the OG
  13. if that's the case, even better. I'll take it for sure
  14. thanks for the link. that line was one of my favorite line ever
  15. ****, I literally just said the same thing (without the Scott Stevens specification) in the "if only thread" great minds eh?
  16. if only... Lindros kept his head up
  17. I came on here to express the same sentiment. Neil Hartman opened Philly Sports Talk with this announcement and he said something to the effect of "what a surprise, Ron Hextall blah blah blah" and first words out of my mouth were "you're surprised?" and no, he didn't sound the least bit sarcastic when making the statements.
  18. you sure? he loves jumping in on the forecheck (dunno why)
  19. I don't feel like reading the whole thread to see if this was clarified or not.... NHL Hall or just Flyers Hall? Eric should be in both. Rod will be in the NHL, not sure he deserves to be in the Flyers Hall. I'd have to go back a look at his career with the Flyers. Going off of memory though, as a fan I found myself frustrated with the player at times. I thought he needed to be more physical than he was and though he showed great stuff, he never was elevated to "AWESOME" in my eyes (I was in elementary school at the time).
  20. you do realize that in order for the "swap" to be complete, the Penguins would have to don the O&B right? otherwise it's just a "change" for one team
  21. sorry I was able to get back to you sooner. I did see your question has been answered but yeah, it's Trey from Phish. He's a huge fan of the team and any time they performed in Philly through the years he's made a big deal about meeting the team, wearing their jersey's at shows and so on. Just a quick google search of Phish and Flyers you'll see tons of instances (among many that don't apply) of Phish and Flyers. https://www.google.com/search?q=phish+flyers&rlz=1C1DVCP_enUS453US459&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=2HZ6UfruGPat4APl1IDACg&ved=0CDwQsAQ&biw=1366&bih=667
  22. I voted for Jake. When I read the topic the first name that jumped into my mind was Zac. He had such a long way to go from last year skating the line, stupid penalties etc. to now being a valuable complimentary piece. I was also going to vote for Simmonds as he was one of the few bright spots for the offense this season as well. Jake has to get the nod however because his improvement occurred where it matters the most in the sport, offensive production. hopefully this is a season to build off of and not "his career year"
