  1. That guy (Jay Onrait) is the best broadcaster we have on TSN... he busts me up all the time. He's usually partnered with the 'straight-man" dan o'toole and they've got a good thing going. Here's their top 10 moments.
  2. Horseshit call imo... they got robbed. Perfect example for those people that want a coach to have a "flag" to review/overturn calls during a game.
  3. I think SHANAHAN'S doing a great job this year... very fair and accurate. He knows his stuff and knows that MYERS is a dirty player. EASY SUSPENSION.
  4. Fairly trashy and amature sounding piece there... I don't know what he was posting 'mid-collapse' of Bryz, but hindsight is 20/20.... Where's he going to be if Bryz falls appart again? Obviously Bryz can't keep up this pace... but I doubt he'll slide back to where he was. I guess we can just hope he'll be above average.
  5. Washington is only a regular season team? And chokers in the playoffs?
  6. lol... this weirdo is growing on me. I don't care what he does as long as he stops the puck, but he definitely doesn't do anything to dispell the stereotype that goalies are all nutjobs!
  7. Just another good reason homer picked up Grossman and Kubina. If it's only for a few games, I'm sure that Bourdon and Gustuffson will do fine.... I don't like that Lilja will draw in though. That guy's a scrub.
  8. I don't care if he speaks swahili... his attitude stinks and his play stinks. There is no proper way to translate "you care too much". He straight up doesn't get it.
  9. Still awkward as ever... always thought Richie would make a great scare crow.
  10. Well... you haven't been watching for a while, b/c even as far back as 92/93 when Al Iafrate set the record at 105.2 mpg he had a skate in style. I'm only 31, but I don't remember anything but the "skate in and shoot" style for this competition. (Iafrate video).... even worth a look for the Skullet he's rockin'.
  11. It's called being a veteran. Grizzled Vet -1 Raw Rookie - 0
  12. Well... here's what he said on the matter: "I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL. This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT"
  13. His "divorce year" really de-railed every part of his life for a while. It was VERY clear he wasn't 100% interested in playing during that time and it really showed in his production. Just look at the "Trial on the Isle" photos from that training camp and it was clear that he wasn't anywhere near game shape. He looked pasty and flabby. Unfortunately, that year and his poor results are what stick in a lot of people's minds. I think last year he finally got back to being himself and his quality of play jumped. I'm sure he sought comfort in the 'party crew'... but his play was even getting better with them around. This is just the icing on top. He must feel great to finally be earning the 4 mill salary he was given. Him and Giroux and some of the only Flyers I'd say are worth their contract. (and bob/talbot)
  14. Hey... just wondering if we can consider Jagr's paper machier groin an "issue" yet??? How long until I can type " I told you so"...
  15. The cost to get him would be steep...maybe too steep. But I figure he'd fit under the cap at the expense of someone like Carle or Jagr? I believe we're starting to see Jag's age creep into the equation. ANd while Carle certainly puts up pts, he's going to want 4+ mill and I don't see him worth that here. We need a true work-horse d-man for the future and I just don't see Carle fitting that bill.
  16. Kimmo is definitely one of the most under-rated defensemen of his time. He's definitely lost 1/2 a step and is no longer the offensive threat he once was, but he's just so damn STEADY. We can probably count the amount of 'blunders' he's made during his time here on one hand. What's amazing to me though is how durable he's been... especially considering his size and willingness to block shots and go into the corners. Gotta love the guy.
  17. Right now, of the 8 playoff spots in the East, 4 are held by the Atlantic. That includes 3 teams in the top 5. Is the Atlantic the toughest division in hockey or is there a tougher one in the West? I guess we do get a pretty sweet deal on our travel.
  18. Hartnell seems to play his best when he's on a VERY defined line and he has a VERY defined role. His last great run was when he was with Leino/Danny B. That line was very clearly defined as was his role on that line. To start the year, his place on the team (as well as everyone else's) was not clearly defined and he was a line nomad. Tada... he consistently plays on a line and clearly has the defined role of digging in the trenches for Giroux/Jagr and he's back on top of his game. Pretty clear imo.
  19. I wish I could trust a darn word he says... but as far as injuries go, Homer is pretty misleading. Giroux could be friggin' decapitated and Homer would refer to it as an upper body injury.... or a virus :-)
  20. I guess he's gotta stick up for his guys considering how new he is... but yeah... pretty hypocritical. On the other hand, maybe he should've used this as a situation to try and deal with the pims problem Anaheim (and we ;-( ) have. The only blatant 'dive' I saw was when Briere had a stick scrape up his helmet (forehead area) and he grabbed his face (and drew a call). Oh, and boudreau is a piece of sh!t.
