  1. well, apparently they had a few problems with the flyer's offer, one of which being that we didn't have a capable backup goalie to send their way. i guess they wouldn't take boucher? (jk for those without sarcasm filter)
  2. it doesn't take cajones against some players. It says to me that Homer felt that confident enough against this guy that he was willing to play any two cards and find a way to win.
  3. Rather than try to decipher what the F you're talking about at the end of your post, I will respond to the poker bit. If you lost AA to homer with 23o on a total bluff then Homer outplayed you.
  4. well, if they throw in Slava Voynov, then I think we'd have a deal.
  5. and in other breaking news today, JFK has been shot and we landed on the moon.
  6. Tukka has played unbelievable. He's been phenomenal for them this run. If he keeps it up, they win the cup... imo
  7. to unemployment... Dan Bylsma.... We Welcome You!

  9. couple points... lets actually give Boston some credit here... they played great team D. they are a much better team than most realize. they can win the cup against either of the west teams. Cindy will be seeing Chara in his nightmares the rest of the summer. he was really trying out there, he just had a 6'9" zombie coming at him at every turn. the real no-shows were Malkin and Neal. they needed that line to score and they didn't. without secondary scoring against Boston.... they didn't have a chance. Lastly... lets not forget that Pitt's Achilles heel is their D. they're simply not strong enough, but especially when they weren't outscoring teams. Oh, and I'd gladly take Crosby for Shelley.... problem is, Jody is a UFA now(and by problem I mean yippee!)
  10. "no clear-cut timetable" bad choice of words there...
  11. man.. i swear that there's so much hate for the flyers out there in the hockey world that most of the votes were put in for Bob just to spite us flyers fans.
  12. while goalies are *always* blamed in Philly, you can bet that the goalie neither played as bad as ardent fans of the team would portray... nor was he really good. was he good enough? well, i think that's where sanfillipino is going with this article. He gave them a chance to win on most nights. The point being, our *team D* was atrocious on most nights. i've said it before, but it bears repeating... bryz faced (to)numerous(to mention) breakaways and odd man chances, as well as, high percentage shots from between the dots, as i've seen a flyer's goalie face in my time. not that i'm recusing him of any bad plays.. sure, he had his share of goals 'he'd like to have back'. all of which is to get back to the point that @radoran made... any discussion of bryz needs to center around his deal and the cap hit. this is the real problem and this is why so many are so hyper-focused on his play. he was no worse than just about anybody on the team this year, but he's receiving the lion share of complaints.
  13. I def lean toward agreeing with this assessment. it probably doesn't mean much at the end of the day. but, Gus and Oliver's play seemed to indicate some promise for our blueline next season. I don't feel that that is just a fluke of the end of the year fighting for a job type thing. Of course they are fighting for jobs, but they will be early on next year as well. Ollie seems to have a lot of promise with his size and his play so far. If they can channel his mean streak into clearing the crease ala pronger, I like what i see. Gus seems to be a very mobile D man who possesses some puck movement skills. Isn't that what they've been sorely lacking most of the year? Seems to me that, if he can continue to improve in that direction, we might have a diamond in the rough. Maybe I'm trying to polish this turd defense a bit much at this point, but I'm sorely needing some encouragement, because beyond these things that I've mentioned... we seems to be so far out of the mix for many years to come.
  14. good stuff... i like it. except, they just won't buy out bryz this summer. that, and apparently Rusty was unhappy with his role and seems to think he's got more offensive upside that anyone else in the league thinks he does.. i don't think he re-signs.
  15. oops... meant Reese... my old brain. So, if we're looking to improve from the draft, then we're more than a few years away. And then, yes, they screwed themselves good by playing well. I like Meltzers analysis, but then it really begs the question as to why it took them 30 friggin games to play like they're supposed to. Maybe he's not so subtlety indicting the coach there. I agree with you @fishbulb that they won't fire the coach or the GM. I firmly believe Bryz gets one more year... At this point even Briere knows he just played his last Flyers game.
  16. if I were religious I would bless you for keeping this thread alive. hockey forum board members.... I welcome you to a long summer.
  17. whooooaaaahhhhhh... slow down there sparky. Crosby still has a loooooong time to go before he even deserves to be spoken of in the same sentence as the Great One. And ThEnnnnn he has to contend with Mario and Messier. Holy crap he's NOT even close yet.
  18. the Flyers played their best hockey at the very end here, all the while with a heavily rookie laden team. the kids are hungry and this last little stretch here was very encouraging for the future. Mason was outstanding tonight. the league seems to be unanimous in its praise for Reggie Lemelin and tonight lends a bit of credence as to the 'why' that is. I've been critical of him myself, but that's obviously a very naive opinion since I really have no idea how goalie coaching works... nor do I pretend to like some here.... I will forego the names. Now.. have no delusions of grandeur for next season, but it seems that maybe we're not as far off from the promised land as we thought even a few weeks ago. What do you all think!? Is this a misguided feeling based the anomaly of recent successes!? Or is there really some cause for optimism here!? curious...
  19. Tough fighter... Are you, in fact, kuato? Answer the question.
  20. um.. HELLO!!!! ???? we scored 0 goals!!! ZERO!!! ZED! Nada. zip zilch. NONE goals scored!! and all you dip shizz wanna do is complain about the goalie. only in philly.
  21. it's becoming clear... at least to me, that the Flyer's overall plan B for not drafting and not being able to get FA's anymore is to heavily recruit college FA's. interesting approach, but not even that seems to be working, outside of matt read.
  22. ummm... have you seen Colorado!? just sayin...
  23. he's showing promise. I've been pleasantly surprised. His reach is a great asset that's been helping him cover mistakes. Like someone else said, I'd like him to show more nasty and use his size more. I'm sure the Flyer's brass do as well. Maybe Prongs could get on the ice and teach him a few things.
