  1. The fans can't change the on-ice product and unless I missed something that's not what was being discussed. What was being debated was whether or not management was the only party with a lack of patience. I think it's cyclical. Snider wants to win now, as well as make money, so he puts a product on the ice he thinks will compete every year. I think it's fair to assume that if he went full on youth movement and the team stunk for years, the fan base would stop going to games, which scares him. I can think back to a time when I'd actually go down to the Spectrum with not tickets and would walk up to the window and purchase seats for a game that night without any problem at all. The early 90s were like that. I think if the team missed the POs for several years in a row it would only be a matter of time before it goes back to that.
  2. Just this year alone I've seen people suggest we trade Schenn (the good one), Couturier (that was me), and Voracek. And that's just on this board. So yeah, I agree management isn't the only ones who are impatient.
  3. I don't watch South Park, but that quite made me laugh. Well done.
  4. The title of this thread reminds me of the part in A Christmas Story when the waiters at the Chinese restaurant are singing (attempting to more like it) Christmas Carols, haha.
  5. I don't have any problems with these statements. They are skills and ones that I cannot do, but I don't consider them athletic accomplishments. I'm not saying anybody can do it, I just don't think it's a sport, especially one worthy of the Olympic Games. I've been watching a decent amount of the games this year and it's not even close to the athletecism required from stuff like hockey, skiing (some of these events are nuts), and speed skating. Figure skating is mocked, but those people are better athletes than curlers imo. And when I think of sports that have been eliminated in recent years, I am even omre annoyed this one remains.
  6. Now I know why it's popularity has increased in recent years.
  7. I would try it. It looks fun, but it also looks like something I'd do while drinking a beer. Out of breath, never. Sore as hell, plenty of times.
  8. I'm sore after a day of golf, but I still don't think that's a sport either. To me curling is golf or bowling. It requires physical effort, but doesn't require athleticism.
  9. I don't think golf is a sport either. I respect good golfers. God knows I'm not one of them. They can do something not everybody can, but it doesn't require athleticism. I guess you could say the same thing about any events involving shooting (guns or bows), minus cross country skiing. That is pretty intense.
  10. I think curling looks like it could be fun to play. It's got the appeal of some backyard games, bar room games, or niche sport (Frisbee golf) that seems different and fun. But I think it's an embarrassment this is an Olympic sport. There are so many more things that have been cut from the Olympics, were never Olympic sports to begin with, and are simply more athletic than this game (because that's what it is, a game, not a sport).
  11. That all his trades aren't bad. A few posts back you said something to the effect of this trade being part for the course. While I don't hide my disdain for Downie, losing Talbot was not even a little bit of a blow. As someone else mentioned, Downie's salary also comes off the books. Add to that the good trades he has made and his trade record is not that bad at all. His weak point imo is salary and contract related stuff. He overpays and for far too long, though I suspect that's an the old man's encouragement.
  12. All of whom Homer traded for. Throw in Mason and Couturier too.
  13. I didn't like him when he was here the first time, didn't like the trade to bring him back, but he looked ok here for a time. He's definitely not a loose canon anymore, but he sucks as a hockey player now, so there's that. He stinks and I want nothing to do with him when his contract is up in the off season.
  14. I can't say to be honest. I either change the channel or play with my phone/tablet. I barely ever pay attention to commercials anymore.
  15. I know there are networks that show cartoons pretty much 24/7 now, but there was just something so cool about network TV stations taking time out and doing nothing but cartoons or shows aimed at kids for 4-5 hours.
  16. Do you save a ton on utilities since you never run your heat? Wait, you actually had snow on your bed? You don't have a screen door, you nut?
  17. I can see how it would be different for certain units, yeah. My Dad lives in an apartment. He's got someone on each side and above him. He's also sub-level, so I'm not sure if it's negated.
  18. I just laugh when the old man gets worked up anymore, even if I agree with him (not about him being better than half the team, but him not being picked over some of the guys that got selected). I don't know why he's so mad. I could care less about Olympic hockey. It's fun to watch, but I care way more about an NHL season than a medal. If the U.S. won a gold, I'd think "neat" and would last all of a few minutes. Yzerman has made some truly bad choices this year. I hope it bites him in the ass.
  19. I didn't get a shower this morning just because I didn't want to go through it again, lol. Your place actually stays warm enough from that? I used to live in a row home and while having someone on either side helps, that alone was never enough to keep my place warm.
  20. I used to love watching that show on Saturday morning. I miss the days of the big three networks showing cartoons (or shows like this) from like 7-noon every Saturday.
  21. I wasn't talking about #1's, I'd just settle for a few guys we don't hate or want gone (though some of them have looked a lot better lately).
  22. I do too, but because my first TV (in my room) was one without a remote. I didn't mind at first because we have a fireplace, which I love, but I'm starting to get sick of the smell of burning wood. I think it's ******* with my sinuses too. I feel bad for my cats. When I pet them I can feel their little bodies are actually cold. We heard anywhere between tonight at 11 to Sunday at 11 for power to be restored. Thank you btw. The good news is we still have hot water, the bad news is getting out of the shower is horrible.
  23. There were dinosaurs around then too, right?
  24. You quiet down with that prediction stuff Mr. 60 goals. I don't have a strong feeling about him either way. I would just settle for a defenseman we don't want to kick out the door right now.
  25. No idea, but I almost always go out of my way to avoid them. I either change the channel to my secondary option (always have a back up) or start playing on my phone/tablet. I don't know how people survived in the days when you had to get up to change the channel.
