    The smart play is sign a deal with a crap team like Philly. Worst he can do if he lives up to his stats is 2nd line C on the Phantoms. Dont think he will find a team as thin at C than Philly. If his agent has half a brain he runs not jogs to sign.

    You can do a lot worse than a bottom 6 guy who put up double digit goals 2 years in a row. He hits like a mad man, beats people up AND kills penalties. In a perfect world, its 1 yr not 2...but not terrible. BTW, Evan Rodriguez signed a 4 yr deal with Fla for 3 mill a year.

    Yes, Canes would have lost the rights to this kid next year. He becomes a UFA then. Thing is, he's really gonna be hard pressed to find a better spot to stick. He had 46 pts in 38 games on a strong Denver team. We could have done worse.

    That seemed off, but you can squint and make it within the realm of possibilities. How about Corey Perry? He makes 1 mill a year for 3 straight years and Chicago ponies up an incredible 4 mill? I get they have to reach the cap floor, but this is not the way. 30 year old Scott Mayfield, barely a 5-6 D man is signed until 2030 at 3.5 a year??? Lou has totally lost it!!

    I actually don't mind Hathaway as a bottom 6. 2 years is a mistake. The real problem is Deslauriers is making 1.75 for the next 3 years (with a NTC!)...so Hathaway's skill set is redundant on this roster. If Nic is not here, sure throw him on the 4th line and or press box....but since you inherited the Nic debacle...dont double down! How many guys like this you need??

    Did aliens abduct Stevie Y yesterday and replace with a pod twin?? In what world is Justin Holl worth 3.3 mill for 3 years. Scratched in TO...sure, come and play for our team with a huge overpay! JT Compher scores 50 pts in a contract year (1st time over 35) and gets 5(!) Years at 5+mill a year! No lesson learned from Copp, or Fran Nielson?? How about...you not winning the Cup, develop your own 2C without committing outrageous term or cap space?? Crazy!! Ghost is just one year commitment...but 4.4 feels steep also!

    I'd rather add guys who can be flipped at the deadline for draft picks. Hathaway foots the bill, teams always looking for grit come playoff time (although the 2 yr deal may hinder things) but don't see anyone wanting Poehling.

    45% face off percentage?? This our new PK dude? Puck possession pretty important there....lol. on the bright side, we can bury him in the AHL for a half mill cap hit...while taking away valuable minutes from actual prospects. It may not seem big, but this is our 1st chance to see what kind of stamp he wants to put on this team...pfffft.

    I just read he was pretty decent on the PK...had a couple short handed goals and apparently good at the role. Makes a bit more sense now. Flyers really needed to upgrade the pk guys.

    I guess. Their NHL scouts must see something. Odds of flipping him at the deadline are nil, so the diamond in the rough theory must apply. I just hope he's strong on the puck and tough to play against.

    I have seen him score a few nice goals, but mainly considered a bust in Montreal. Splitting hairs, but I give him vet minimum tops. Half mill on the cap can add up.

    I think the laughable return for Ryan Johansen....with the Preds retaining 50% of his 8 mill salary and getting back exclusive negotiating rights to Gaĺyenchuk (LMAO) tells us everything we need to know about what DB was facing when putting this deal together. Hayes as a stand alone trade is a year older than Johansson and slower speed wise.

    I'd love to see Mason Shaw signed to a 1 year cheap deal. Not tendered by the Wild...decent wheels...hits a ton, underrated scoring from the bottom 6. Max has interesting upside. Think the Ducks mishandled him early and injured a bit also.

    Ryan (and his twin brother, who also got invited to Development Camp as an invitee) are both from Windsor! Live about 10 minutes from me. Rick Pracey (Flyers Scout) must also be a Windsor native?

    So this Ciernik kid has NHL bloodlines also. His Dad scored 12 goals between limited time with Ottawa and Washington. Thought his name rung a bell.
