  1. @Hexy27 The only reason, and I mean the only reason I have not come out with the the pitchfork and torch regarding JvR is because of the pain I felt in the 07' season. It really didn't help that a co-worker (at the time) is a Penguins fan and he would rub the salt in daily. I expect great things from JvR and maybe he is pissed that he is pushed further down the depth chart in favor of Matt Read or Cooter, but he needs to dig deep and play with some passion. Obviously he is not injured enough if he is playing; then again maybe he is and he just wanted to help his team for the WC. Hockey is a mysterious sport. Not that this has anything to do with JvR, but would it kill the NHL to make it more like the NFL where players are usually 22 coming into the league? I just feel some players are too immature to handle the bright lights. Ah fak it! Trade everybody!
  2. Wait JvR needs surgery? What kind heart replacement surgery?
  3. @Hexy27 Surgery or not JvR hasn't played more than 2 shifts this entire season that is indicative of his new contract. He was sat during the SC Finals, many times during the regular season over the past few years he's been a healthy scratch, decided to "develop" further in college, etc. Yet he plays with some fire last year in the Boston series and he gets this contract? I was hoping. No make that praying that he would live up to it, yet again here we sit puzzled with this guy. I give up on him. If he is not hurt then play him or move him in hopes that he can be part of a package to get another solid defender. If he is hurt, shut him down till he is better. It's not like his lack of offensive prowess would mess with the chemistry or the points standings.
  4. I am still rusty in the language of Holmgren, I need to break out my English-Holmgren dictionary, but didn't he say: "Flyers fans are going to love him" when he was traded to us from Phoenix? Doesn't that translate to he is the biggest assclown to wear a Flyers uniform?
  5. @orange_crush That must be exactly what it is. Not that he injured his calf and probably couldn't skate well. Are you serious or did you run out of Midol?
  6. @FlyersFan4Life Great points and I feel your pain. I tried to remain positive after yesterdays loss, but I woke up at 1 am to take a piss, and in my mid sleep haze, I shook my head and said "they lost again". The Hawks will be a test and we'll really be able to gauge where this team is following that.
  7. @brelic Is it possible that he rides the pine next season and the remainder of this one and gets fed up and decides to retire and play in the KHL? I am not too sure how this whole contract works for him with the ins and outs, but that may be a lot better than out right buying him out. Also, he may have a wake up call after sitting today, but for some reason I don't see it.
  8. @Vincent05 Wait a guy with Bono glasses in a baby blue jersey sitting behind hurricane proof glass dug deep to do that? To one of the greatest to play the game? That hasn't played a game for Pittsburgh in over a decade? Ah F' it, it's a Penguins fan, I would expect nothing short of that gesture. I would have loved to ask him to name four roster players when the last time Jagr wore a Penguins jersey. Did that couple in the front have to pay for 6 seats?
  9. Nice pads. Did he borrow them from Bernie? I am pumped....
  10. Buyout is a tough decision especially since we have Pronger to worry about. Best bet is if he sits too long, he'll retire and go to the KHL. Even with that I am not too sure how that works with the current CBA.
  11. @canoli The young guns sure do look good. Do you think Bob gets the nod on the 2nd? I would almost think that they have to start Bryzgalov out of principal, but Bobrovsky played one hell of a game.
  12. @Vanflyer Pure sarcasm Van. Trotz is decent but made my blick list.
  13. My choice for an adequate replacement are as followed: 1) Barry Trotz 2) Pierre Page 3) Dave King 4) Jacques Demers 5) Mike Milburry 6) Rick Bowness Oh and this is in no particular order. Fingers crossed on Bowness though.....
  14. Oh crap I missed that one. Good call on the boil btw. The first song is Richie Rosati- Broad Street Bullies Please do not include the White Rapper from West Chester. Ha ha ha
  15. @AJgoal I didn't think of it that way. You are correct. Now If they keep the style in place, is it possible to put a big body in place of Pronger and keep the system the same? It just seems odd that they are more of a zone oriented defense (from what I am seeing) than one that plays more of a man/cover scheme.

  17. I agree with a lot of the above. I am still scratching my head when I see the Chief in a suit and tie behind the bench. There are better assistants out there that can help adjust the Flyers game on the fly. Now that we are stuck with Dmitry Dubyago in net for the better part of a decade, does the coach try and adjust his game plan to boost his stats?
  18. I think if we had a healthy Pronger on the ice this would be a different story. Lavy pushes these guys and that is what this team needed a few years back. He is unlike Johnny Cakes Stevens who could of iced team Canada and still got lackadaisical hockey. Lavy is a good coach that is getting a bum scoop because of the space cadet goal tender. I am not giving him the Jack Adams award, but he is the best we have had in over a decade.
  19. @flyercanuck I am with you in regards to the frustration. I just wonder if Bryzgalov would flurish under a system like Ken Hitchcock's and sink in a Lavy system. I am not making excuses for his back breaking goals either. The whole thing is just plain f'd if you ask me. This guy (Bryzgalov) will cost Lavy his job and PL is probably one of the better coaches this team has had in the better part of a decade. He will cost the Flyers so much roster upgrading with his dumb contract and more than likely cost us the best goalie prospect we have had in 25+ years. This is why you cannot have the owner over stepping his boundries and handling the day to day operations of a hockey club. Snider will not be alive to see this contract exprire. Oh well, once again the Flyers' brass has proven that they are extremely short sighted.
  20. @radoran I hear you on the unproven aspect of Bobrovsky and it is a coin toss to see what we get. But at this point why not give Bobrovsky as shot until Bryzgalov can find his way out of the woods, or whatever he calls it? I am not too sure who is better at this point, but for the price on his contract he has to find a way to step up to the plate. Either that or Lavy needs to adjust his defensive scheme so they can adjust to Bryzgalov's game.
  21. @Flyguys03 We have the good goalie with Bobrovsky. It's just too bad he has to sit behind Bustgalov.... I didn't see too much of Bryzgalov outside of a few playoff games, has he always been this shaky?
  22. Not to nit-pick, but do they do there homework over at CSN? I would take the article a little more serious if: A) They noted that Dan Carcillo was a trade deadline move (let's not get started on the Upshall and a 2nd circus) B) It was at the 2009 trade deadline not 2008. Again, it's a slow day here, but CSN needs to get on the ball with their facts
  23. Lavy will go with Bryzgalov, it's jsut the business. Bob looked great lastnight!
  24. I would take Scott Hannan and René Bourque off their hands for Bobrovsky and lower tier foward. However, Rad you may be on to something, I think Iggy and a 2012 Calgary 1st and 2013 Calgary 1st may be able to pry Leighton away from Paul Holmgren.....maybe....
