  1. There is that, but he just looks like an annoying dipschit. A lot like that little bytch in pissburg everytime I see them, I wanna punch them in the face
  2. Austin Matthews is a talent d player, but every time I see his face I just want to punch him
  3. Here’s another fun fact: in 8 seasons Simmons scored 203 goals, and had 784 penalty minutes in his captain like ascent to Flyer legend, Laughton has not yet scored over 100 goals, and he hasn’t reached 250 penalty minutes, but he has played 11 seasons, all with the Flyers
  4. Even though I don’t know what it is, it seems to me that DB has a plan. None of the moves bringing in these older players seem permanent. They have a way out. And like I mentioned in another post, having 4 firsts in the next two drafts is a big win. I would consider 4 firsts more valuable than 6 or 8 middle to late rounders. since things are what they are for the remainder of the season, instead of worrying about the unknown future of this team, I’m going to enjoy the ride hoping they have a playoff run and give us something to cheer for
  5. I’m of the opinion that you can be in a rebuild, and also make the playoffs. This sport is not a vacuum. Just because your team is young and inexperienced, doesn’t mean you can’t exceed expectations. Just because you are a certain age, doesn’t mean you can’t play good hockey. DB came out and said he traded for EJ as a stabilizing presence for what is happening right now, this season. I’m not sure what the issue is here? Should they just pack it and not even try? Should they just tell all the current players, GFY, we don’t care how hard you’ve played, it’s doesn’t fit our plan, so we need to NOT make the playoffs in hopes that we draft some player(s) that will help us make the playoffs? im sure that would go over well. the players would love it. also, when GMs make trades, none of us have inside details on what took place. We can all sit here and argue what WE think should have happened, but that’s not how the real hockey world works
  6. Of course they will, it’s the Flyers. If they cloned Gretzky in his prime, and signed him for 1 million a year for 10 years, Flyer fan would argue the term was too long and the guy is too small
  7. not if he cant deliver on ice. If you're ok with your No 1 center having 10g, and 22 assists, so be it. But you arent going to win many playoff games with that kind of production I digress, this if off topic and not about Laughton
  8. The Flyers could trade a broken zamboni and a tub of flat beer for a legitimate 40 goal scorer, and this forum would find fault with it Four first round picks in the next two years? For me the argument stops right there. Its the same kind of thing Howie did to rebuild the Eagles. It also says its proof they are still committed to the rebuild and NOT going for it now (even though the playoffs are possible). But hey, let's not focus on that, Danny gave up a 5th !
  9. Isn't that why Laughtons so coveted here, because of those intagibles he brings
  10. oh, since we are being all fair and schidt, I want to just say that Scott Laughton has really been stepping up the last couple of games. Its good to see. I still hate him and hope he gets traded, but I want to acknowledge his effort
  11. thats the true definition of a backhanded compliment. "hey dude,no worries, we knew you sucked. It's all good"
  12. I said the other day, after watching Pissburg embarrass us AGAIN, that CP was a hole in the line up. Great move for the Flyers putting him on waivers. That guy sucks so bad I'd rather they play with another skater and an open net
  13. I think I get where your going, but I dont see it the same way. In ANY sport, other than combat types, anyone can choose to fight. We see it in baseball, football, basketball and even soccer. The difference is the consequence of your actions. I think what you were getting at is fighting is ALLOWED in hockey, and has a penalty assessed to it. But even in that, you can't just fight whenever you want. Without a willing partner you will face significant consequences that could hurt your team. Do this repeatedly and it hurts your career. I also disagree with your wording that a fight can/will, "force your team to play better just with your sheer force and will power anytime during the game". There is no guarantee a fight will have any significant impact, and can at times backfire. Im sure Im being overly criticaal of your POV. I agree that hockey is unique in that it allows fights. I also agree about the toughness of the players. I always chuckle when I hear basketball fans talk about the conditioning level of its players. I'd like to see them skate one shift at the NHL level. I also agree with your point about realism, although there is nothing fake about MMA or boxing.
  14. Im with you on this. The staged fight between 2 big guys who don't offer much more is kind of boring. Not in the sense that a fight is boring, but more that its a side show that has little purpose. Having a guy like Rempe or ND on your roster to back you up, while still contributing valuable minutes, is valuable, but not often a reality. I like the fights between guys who are pissed off at some egregious (percieved or real) act that occurred during the game. I think this Rempe guy is the flavor of the week. He will most likely be the next Boogaard, John Scott, type as far as size goes. However, based on these last two fights, he doesn't carry the same menacing intimidation
  15. Let’s not get carried away . Maybe what I should have typed was…. i fcking hate the Bolts! …..cards in the mail
