Just a thought, but the higher the value of a player, the bigger the return if you move them. I guess you need to have a plan and stick with it, and if you think Hart, TK, Provorov etc are still going to be the core when the team is ready to compete then you have a hard decision to make. If you think the rebuild will take longer then you have to consider moving them. The current Flyer situation I believe says move them IF the return is right. The cap hell, the draft capital, the prospect pool all say this will take a while. When the playoffs end this year, there will be half a dozen teams looking to upgrade their goaltending. Maybe they can be fleeced with a Hart trade. That's just a for instance. You build a wall one brick at a time.

i have no reason to think Danny B won't do a good job. We all know and agree that the new president of HO and a total censure of the magpies will be essential to his success or failure. It's gonna be a slow process though, with the lack of draft capital and so so prospect pool.

I agree with you 100% about caring. However, this has been going on for 5 and a half months with no noticeable change shift after shift, game after game. Same lackadasicle, disinterested effort from most of the roster, going back a decade. If you and I were right about caring we wouldn't be having this conversation.

I do not fundamentally disagree with Torts' methods, I do however believe that public shaming with these modern day athletes does not work. They are getting paid regardless of minutes, and in the case of the hockey team formerly known as the Flyers, there is ZERO accountability at every single level of the organization, so it would be very difficult for a coach, any coach, let alone a neanderthal coach like Torts to expect the players to buy in to what he is trying to do. This is the very essence of what the cons at concast have created here, the culture that Clarke, Holmgren et al have embraced. Keith Allen, Fred Shero, Ed Snider and Clarke himself built a team that accountability to each other was at the very core of the success they had, and I think this is what most frustrates me over the past decade and then some. There appears to me to be zero leadership anywhere in the hockey ops, nobody setting the bar, and no expectation for anyone to do their job WELL, so if you are Sanheim or Farabee sitting on the bench on a hockey team going nowhere fast do you really care? I think both these players do care, they would not have worked to get where they are if they didn't, but the current situation has I'm sure sucked the passion from all their games, regardless of what Torts is selling. History tells them and tells us that the coach will be gone before any real consequences are incurred, and really all that Torts is doing is diminishing their value as a trade target for the rest of the GM's.

And as long as Clarke, Barber, Holmgren and Scott are drawing breath this is what we will be dealing with.

Sadly, these rants are what cause the country club hockey ops to dig in their ignorant, arrogant stubborn asses. They will do whatever it takes to protect and nurture their little old boys club. Yep, couldn't agree more. I can't speak for Europe, but in North America hockey is an elitist sport. If you don't come from privilege you are not playing pro hockey. Part of the engineered poverty plan. Eliminate the competition so all the spoiled little brats can get all the plum jobs. The fact that kids are soft today and have the independent contractor mentality, in addition to the salary cap rivalries are gone from pro hockey. If Brad Marchand or the Tachuk boys played in the 70's or 80's they might be dead by this point in their careers. Their own teammates might have punched the crap out of them.
