hf101
Several reports are stating that the Panthers will announce the Team's sale to Virtu Financial CEO Vincent Viola for $250M on Friday. Viola previously tried unsuccessfully to buy the Nets. Looks like the rumors of the Panthers moving to Quebec can be put to rest. I don't think this team is going anywhere. Digityman
That's a shame. They should be moving no matter who owns them.

I am pretty sure part of that cost is the building too. The Panthers were even making money during the lock out.......

HockeyLady
lol, they should really be moved seen as imo, they have done nothing & I think the Coyotes have WAY more fans than the Panthers do, ntm the Lightning is more of a legit team which should be the team of Florida. Florida averaged 16,991 last season (declared attendance) while Phoenix was at 13,923. Florida has a lease agreement through 2028.
WingNut722
Florida has a lease agreement through 2028. Ever see Major League? Maybe if they tank the season they'll be allowed to move based on rock-bottom attendance!

TretiakCCCP20
Wow, what a joke. Keep a team there that nobody appreciates or wants to see because of a couple of reasons... 1. Florida isn't exactly hockey crazy...2. The Panthers don't have the talent to draw in people to come watch them play, they are near the bottom every year3. Tampa Bay is way more popular of a team than Florida The least time the Panthers ever saw anything spectacular was when John Vanbiesbrouck was between the pipes. The Panthers are a giant dud. Take hockey back to Quebec at least there was a team there that people actually wanted to see.

If the Islanders sellout every game at the Barclays Center, they would still average about 1,500 less than the Panthers claim to. Just like Edmonton and Winnipeg do when they sell out every game. I know people question those attendance figures, but if the league is using fictitious numbers to justify keeping a team there, there's nothing that will make them move it. Its all snowbirds. Ever notice that the away team gets more cheers and has more fans???

Ever notice that the away team gets more cheers and has more fans??? Sure. But that's even more of a win/win for the League - they can entertain a large fan base on the road and keep them connected to their franchises. I'd prefer a team in Quebec nine times out of eight. But Tampa's attendance is likewise skewed by hugely discounted tickets (IMO, a good thing in that it can inculcate a fanbase) even after winning the Cup. With all respect to HockeyLady, Tampa also benefits from the snowbird effect. There is absolutely a reason that the League kept Ottawa, Montreal, Tronno (and, yes, Buffalo) in the same division with Florida and Tampa.
WingNut722
They report a 99.7% filled attendance. I wonder if that's "Paid Attendance" or just tickets sold. They can sell all the tickets they want but if nobody goes to the game, they're just down on their beer sales at the venue itself.
