flyercanuck
As per Danny Picard https://twitter.com/DannyPicard/status/502101548428976128 So he wouldn't sign with the Hawks cause he wanted top 6 spot guaranteed on RW, but signs with Rangers who have Nash and St.Louis there????? DaGreatGazoo
Capgeek has them at $1.3 million, before his contract is applied. IIRC, they haven't qualified John Moore yet, so I wonder if he is gonna walk? Not sure they have room to fit both.
Podein25
@flyercanuck@DaGreatGazooInteresting. I would have placed the Rags 3rd on the dance card, behind CGY and BOS. Maybe it was the bright lights and big city of the Big Apple that attracted Hayes. Or maybe it was the Kreider connection. I don't think the Rags will let Moore walk, but I don't know enough about their situation to say for sure. Strictly on paper, it seems like a tight fit money-wise. Also, since Hayes was a UFA, is he bound by entry-level contract rules(wouldn't think so). If not, that could further squeeze their cap dollars. Podein25
since Hayes was a UFA, is he bound by entry-level contract rules(wouldn't think so). I'm certainly no authority on the CBA, but I think the key in all of this is not that he was UFA (as it is, a special kind of one), but rather that he is under 25 years of age at the time of signing his first NHL contract. So I think it has to be a standard ELC with the usual limitations etcBut like I said, I'm no authority on this stuff. Now, sheep and tequila, that's a different matter.... jammer2
@Podein25 I think he will demand some of the bonus clauses that are allowed under the ELC rules, so that may up him a few mill....kinda like B.Schenn's LA contract except the incentives will be reachable. jammer2
Now we all know what happens, he will be a star cause the Rags got him and we didn't. That's just how things go in Flyerland.
