yave1964
http://giant.gfycat.com/DownrightSoulfulCottontail.gif After beating the Lightning the other night, instead of lifting their sticks and thanking the fans for their support as has become the custom in Toronto and most everywhere over the past few years, the Leafs not only did not do so but made a point of it in fact. http://giant.gfycat.com/DismalBrokenIrrawaddydolphin.gif They skated to center ice, apparently winning goalie Bernier was unaware as he began to raise his stick but then quickly pulled it down. Ontario has lost its collective mind. The fans hate the Leafs. The players hate the fans. What a mess. Fun to watch from a distance. Just so glad it isn't happening to my team. flyercanuck
@yave1964 I laughed. The fans make these guys millionaires for playing a game. They get upset when the team doesn't show up for games (there's ZERO excuse for losing 6-2 to BUFFALO and then following it up with a 9-2 shellacking at home) and rightfully so...the most expensive ticket in the NHL and this team hasn't sniffed the cup since the sixties. So they win a game and snub the fans? Great logic.
sarsippius
That's like the CFO going to shake my hand after a successful something or other....and me doing the fake out hair slick back thing. Except I get paid considerably less.
Podein25
I found this Gloat and Wail article from Saturday an entertaining read, especially this line on Shanny: "But Shanahan? He’s the invisible man. While everyone else is down in the engine room pumping out bilge water, he’s up on deck working on his tan." http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/kelly-shanahan-offers-no-rescue-boat-when-disaster-hits-leafsland/article21711620/
WordsOfWisdom
I found this Gloat and Wail article from Saturday an entertaining read, especially this line on Shanny: "But Shanahan? I'll never understand why the Leafs added Shanahan as part of management. He has no experience. Shanahan (the player) would have been just dandy twenty years ago. As for the salute thing, angering the highest paying fans in the NHL is not a recipe for success. The team has got past it, but it was revealing in a "don't put these guys on pedestals" kind of way. (Same with Bernier's recent comments on Nelson Mandela.)
