2016 Buyout Tracker

Recommended Posts

Figured I'd start a thread for tracking who gets bought out this offseason.

Leafs place Jared Cowen on waivers. They will get a salary cap credit (Yes, they will be able to exceed the cap this year) of $650,000. I'm not sure how it happened in his contract, but it appears to be true. He will cost $750,000 against the cap in 2017-2018.

Cap hit:

2016 $1.6M

2017 $1.5M

I can live with it. Time to move on and cut their losses. I wish him well except when he plays the Flyers of course. It frees up over 3 mill too.

I see him being waived again to the Phantoms...at least i pray he does....i do not want to see him again in orange and black.

Wild buyout: Thomas Vanek's failure in Minnesota is now over.

ROFL. ROFL

That's gotta hurt. Like not "ow I stubbed my toe" hurts, but like "sodomize me with a rusty fishing knife" hurts.

They were not in horrid cap shape. New contracts for Zucker and Dumba and a backup goalie are the only pertinent moves and those would not have broken the bank. Cap is at 73 million and now they have 14 million in space. What are they planning? Looking at the UFA pool, I don't see who they are targeting. They don''t have enough space for Stamkos without further moves. Backes maybe?

Center is really the only super need for the team.

Remember when we lost a season and a half of hockey so the owners could be fiscally responsible?

Good times.
