I guess these groups will practice together then play in the games together.

I'm not a fan of having two different mix squads but i guess all the clubs are doing it.

Really not a lot of spots at all of for grabs this year....which is a good sign they are getting close.

I like that Sanheim is Provorov's partner, even though MacDonald is in the same group.

Me too the downside is he is now messing with Sam's confidence....can't wait till that bag o' sh!t is off the roster!!!

Also strange to see the Flyers have so many right hand shots now they have Friedman skating with Lamarche two righties....never seen that before (or don't recall it)....

Good to read...

NONE SHALL PASS PROVOROV

* With almost machine-like precision, Ivan Provorov thwarted attackers in drills off the rush. They couldn't go wide on him, nor could they muscle past him to move inside the dots. There's a good reason why he won the Barry Ashbee Trophy last season and led the defense in ice time. The scariest part with Provorov is that he's still only scratched the surface of his talents.

I like that too. I wonder if Jake will skate with Couturier or Patrick in group 2. Also? I like that Sanheim is Provorov's partner, even though MacDonald is in the same group.

Or maybe Simmonds with Patrick?  Voracek and Couturier did play together last year, so there is that.

Sanheim/Provorov is interesting.  Curious that they moved MacD to the left side.  I suppose he's equally as bad on both sides.  Maybe he's just a placeholder until Morin/Ghost are paired together for the season.

Per Adam Kimmelman, group 2 is skating as follows:

Kind of interesting.  Not really digging Weise on that line with Couturier and Jake, though.  Maybe he's just Filppula's placeholder since he's in the other group.  That Raffl/Laughton/Read line sounds like it could be their fourth line.

The right side of the Flyers' defense is pretty nice (including Provorov who is skating in group 1).

is Vecchione not skating?  I don't see him listed among any of the line groupings that Kimelman posted.

Good point.

I really hope Weise finds a path to relevance this year. As it stands, he was just about the very definition of dead weight throughout much of the last campaign. Barring some substantial improvements to his game, I have a very hard time seeing him on a scoring line anywhere in the NHL -- maybe Colorado. :D

That top line though... that does interest me honestly. I'm a pretty big believer in TK. Lindblom would likely have to use his body a good bit though to help the others. For Voracek's weaknesses, he is very good at protecting the puck and holding it in deep. I haven't seen Lindblom enough to know if he can fill that kind of role. G isn't great at it, and TK is too small really. Still, it's an interesting trio. I feel like they would stand to be deadly on the rush with all that skill and speed. I wonder if they'll use this setup for any of the preseason games.

Salinitri and Hora cut:

Salinitri will head back down to juniors to rejoin the Sarnia Sting, while Hora, who signed an AHL contact with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in July, will report to them in Allentown.

These latest cuts bring the Flyers' roster down to 55 players.

55 is a lot of players left.  They still have to cut more players than will make the team.
