Greetings everyone!  I wrote up the game preview today and due to a scheduling conflict, there will not be a post-game report from us.  The Capitals are a lot like the Blues statistically...lethal offense...horrendous defense and sub-par goaltending.  While I'd think the Capitals are more skilled than the Blues the overall challenge is rather similar except I think Washington's defense is not as physically stout as St. Louis'.  Another good opportunity to keep winning and putting distance between ourselves and the rest of the division tonight.  Enjoy and discuss!

I am thinking it is going to be a tough one play. Statistically we are not good against defending Stanley Cup Champion (9-11-2).
Last season we lost both games against Capitals. Dubnyk is 2-5-1 vs this team.  Holtby is 8-2-0 in 10 starts vs Wild. Ovechkin and Oshie having 3 hat tricks against us too, and in my opinion, especially, they good because they are playing against their former coach. But still I hope for our success tonight.

I wrote before at the Old Wild Message Board that Ovechkin and Kuznetsov having a tradition to take a dinner before the game at the "Moscow on the Hill" restaurant. We have an employee whose brother is an owner of that restaurant and he and his employees who cooked the food  for players took few pictures together with Ovechkin and Kuznetsov last year. And I saw those pictures. I have never been there. Maybe someday I will have time to visit it too.🍽️🍲.

I think if we only get 18 SOG like against the Blues we're screwed. Koivu's line needs to step up, especially Nino although I found Koivu's performance against the Yeos even more disappointing than Nino's.

Agree, 18 SOG are not a lot. Capitals have more talented snipers than Blues  and capable to finish better against us, especially during power plays as they did before. So far they are second on power play in NHL this season too. We need to minimize penalties during that game as well as to improve our production. Personally for me , game against Capitals in our arena always is the most exciting game through the season, because this is the team who really loves to play real hockey.

Penalties will kill us.

Caps nearly always score.

The Wild needs to play a really tight and sound defensive game, be patient and get the Caps frustrated. Hard to get in on the forecheck if your playing like that though.

Are the Wild capable of carrying the puck in?

Not sure how effective dump and chase will be.
