Well, I hope it was worth it.... Seriously though, if that was all he did (though that was rather heinous of him from a professional and privacy standpoint), and he actually IS a skilled defenseman, someone will give him a shot and I can see someone like him getting back into the NHL as an undrafted free agent and someone will end up with a real good player and probably on a team friendly deal. He is an 18 yr old doing stupid 18 yr old things. We've all done dumb ass things, except not all of us have the eyes of the entire hockey world on you as you are about to enter the draft! He has to recognize his status, act accordingly, and keep whatever he likes to do in his own time between himself and whomever it is. Unless he will simply be one of those adults 'who never grow up', he should be fine.....but yea, cost himself early he did.

TropicalFruitGirl26
You know, looking over at the mock draft list posted, and the Lightning not having a pick till the 3rd round (making their pick 90th or so, give or take), it looks like they might end up drafting a defensemen, as it seems that's where a lot of them are at that point in the draft. That is, UNLESS, the Bolts trade away their 3rd rounder in some side deal with the Kraken...in which case they will have to wait to the 5th round to pick (150th-ish overall). Lightning have never had very good luck in drafting defensemen. With the exception of Victor Hedman and way early on, Roman Hamrlik, the bulk of defensemen drafted and developed by Tampa Bay has been "Meh" to "Just OK" at best. Jury is still out on Cal Foote, their current young, drafted defenseman from 2017.

Brewin Flames
Montreal Canadiens select Logan Mailloux in NHL draft despite teen's 2020 trouble in Sweden When he returned to North America, he found NHL teams asking about the incident in pre-draft interviews. After multiple media reports chronicling what happened in Sweden were published, a dozen teams vowed not to have Mailloux on their draft boards. Mailloux decided to "renounce" himself from the draft, in a highly unusual move, because he was still eligible to be drafted. "The NHL draft should be one of the most exciting landmark moments in a player's career, and given the circumstances, I don't feel I have demonstrated strong enough maturity or character to earn that privilege in the 2021 draft," he wrote in a statement on social media earlier this week. "I know it will take time for society to build back the trust I have lost, and that is why I think it is best that I renounce myself from the 2021 NHL draft and ask that no one select me this upcoming weekend." A source told ESPN that multiple teams still intended on selecting Mailloux, a defenseman, in the draft, with an eye on Saturday's second round. But the Canadiens opted to select him with their first and only pick in the first round. "By drafting prospect Logan Mailloux with the 31st overall pick, the Montreal Canadiens organization not only selected a promising hockey player, but also a young man who recently admitted to making a serious mistake," the team said in a statement. "The Canadiens are aware of the situation and by no means minimize the severity of Logan's actions. Logan understands the impact of his actions. "His recent public statement is a genuine acknowledgement of his poor behavior and the first step on his personal journey. We are making a commitment to accompany Logan on his journey by providing him with the tools to mature and the necessary support to guide him in his development. We are also committed to raising awareness among our players about the repercussions of their actions on the lives of others." A source close to Mailloux said he was unaware the Canadiens were selecting him until the pick was announced, although the team had shown interest in him during multiple interviews. Mailloux is expected to play for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League next season, although that hasn't been formalized. He also played for the Knights in 2019-20. J0e Th0rnton
I'm happy as a pig in **** we got Eklund on the sharks. He looks to be the best player in the draft. Also he was a sharks fan growing up and is just over the moon to be drafted by the sharks Also if he wears number 1 through 5, the Eklund E5 jokes are sitting there waiting for us. CreaseAndAssist
The Wild's 1st 3 selections were pretty good. After that...it was just throwing darts at a board IMO. Wallstedt at 20 was a great pick and the price to move up was just a 3rd round pick. Lambos, not quite as excited about him. Jack Peart was a great pick in the 2nd round. The Wild ended up drafting 4 WHL players which I can't help but think was a side effect of the pandemic, or we just really like players from that league.
