pilldoc
At 60 pages long and the start of a new season, thought it was best to close down the old thread and start a new one. Hope no one objects. Link to closed 2014-15 Flyers Prospect thread.

OccamsRazor
@jammer2Jammer just to let you know that was a different Gustafsson. The Flyer's Gustafsson is in Europe somewhere...maybe back to KHL i think. The one you are referring to the Hawks drafted.
RJ8812
Why not add "Phantoms discussions" to the title as well?

brelic
Would you folks prefer separate threads - one for Phantoms talk and updates, and one for all other prospect leagues? Or just bunch it into one?
flyercanuck
@brelic I personally think one works...but if guys want a seperate Phantoms one then go for it.
pilldoc
@brelic Good point Brel. Maybe have 2 seperate threads is the best option. I vote for 2 seperate threads, but if majority goes for just 1 thread..then I'm ok with that too.
pilldoc
thinking about...I don't think we have enough discussion to warrent 2 seperate threads. I can rename the thread though.

OccamsRazor
@jammer2 http://theahl.com/stats/game-summary.php?game_id=1014814 Phantoms up end of the 2nd period 4-2. Straka with 2 goals (one a shorty) and an assist in 2 periods. Still can't believe the kid didn't get a callup. Versus an NHL goalie (Dan Ellis). Martel a goal and an assist. 3rd period to go. RJ8812
LaBarbera continuing to be le suck on the Phantoms. Morin is a big strong boy out there. Really hope he turns into a nice second pairing defenseman that can clear the front of the net Phantoms blow 4-1 lead. going to OT This Hershey announcer is saying that Goulbourne is one of the fastest skaters he's seen. jammer2
This Hershey announcer is saying that Goulbourne is one of the fastest skaters he's seen. Really, well that is odd for a tough guy. Very exciting news. With that type of skating ability, we will see him in a Flyers uni sooner than later. I'd give him Read's spot right now. Neither will score a ton, but I'd rather have somebody who can help the cycle or dish out some wicked hits. Read brings none of this to the table. Cut your losses, admit you made a mistake and move on.

jammer2
@OccamsRazor The only thing you accomplish by starting him is instill a losing attitude in our young prospects, the very thing an AHL team is supposed to avoid.

OccamsRazor
the kicker? He stopped 9 of 10 in the shootout8 of 10 but I get your point. Still leave him in the backup spot it's time to be developing Stolarz.

You still don't want to just give Stolarz the reigns so quickly. He's still at least another season away before he'll be NHL ready
OccamsRazor
yes and no. You still don't want to just give Stolarz the reigns so quickly. He's still at least another season away before he'll be NHL readyI don't want to give him anything. But he needs the lion share of the starts. And with that comes growing that you will have to go through as he is doing this. Nothing is to be gained by playing Labarbera. And he maybe ready next for the NHL maybe not i'm not really worried about that now it will tell more on that with how he handles more playing time in the A.First things first. Poconono
Bring up Ouellette from Reading and let Grandpa LaBarbara coach. Stolarz has played most games in Allentown though. He's rather inconsistent. Makes an incredible save then 30 seconds later seems to fall asleep and let an easy one in. His weakness seems to be keeping track of the puck when it goes behind the net. That's partly the defensemen not communicating.
OccamsRazor
He's rather inconsistent. So let him play and work on it. That's why it's a development league. Nothing to be gained watching Laswisscheese in net.
BobbyClarkeFan16
The Stolarz I'm seeing in Lehigh Valley is starting to resemble the Stolarz from the London Knights of the OHL. He seems to be getting his confidence back. He's not relying on his athleticism to make the big save. His concentration level seems to be coming back. His play with the puck is getting back to what it was. Very confident that Stolarz has a rebound year. The 1.82 GAA and the .920 Save Percentage is the Stolarz that I remember. And I'll say this - they continue to play him, the better he's going to get. He's one of those guys who just thrives on playing a ton. I expect that by the time Game 20 rolls around, he'll be the full time starter and he'll go on a tear.
