  1. @doom88 The only possibility, assuming the team stays healthy, is to sit Hartnell....and in turn maybe he will lift his NTC to get moved at the deadline to a contender who needs whatever it is Hartnell brings.
  2. .....when Vinny returns ? Hartnell or Simmonds will have to be on our 4th line. I'm fine with that, but we all know neither of these guys will be pleased.
  3. If he can put some muscle on and protect the puck better he'll be a decent player. He has all the tools otherwise.
  4. Something is wrong with the Flyers when a 'Raffl' Vs. 'McGinn' thread is about to go 20 pages....
  5. Luukko saw the thread titled: "Is Giroux the Next Scott Gomez" and decided that now is his best chance to get out....
  6. @Howie58 I can't remember ever seeing Briere parking himself in front of the net to pick up loose change. He's usually the one behind the net setting things up or attempting a wrap around. What this team needs is a Bobby Ryan or Perry to play with Giroux....not Hartnell.
  7. I'm not sure it can be explained, but this organization is a Bermuda Triangle for players once they sign a big long-term contract.
  8. I completely agree @canoli. He's fitting in well here. Is funny, but since this trade the Av's have looked beatable and the Flyers are light years better...
  9. @flyerrod I'm not sure how much an average 30 pt guy ( when healthy ) would go for... But it's certainly can not be more than what he is making now.
  10. I love what I'm seeing out of him and the threat he adds to our third line. The addition of Downie has essentially turned our shutdown line to one of the hottest lines as of late. He battles, has great vision, is terrific along the boards, and has been able to play on the edge while keeping his cool ( for the most part ). What do you guys think.... Should Homer sign him to a two year extension before he walks ??
  11. Great post! It seems to me Couturier is being used more like a Joel Otto rather than an Eric Stall.
  12. You are right Rad that this thread is more about the media than Giroux. My point is no one wants to talk about a good game because there is no 'drama' in that...and that's the same thing as the media making mountains out of molehills. I'm guilty of it, as are most of us... But I'm just saying....
  13. Well ... The truth is ... ~Start a positive topic about how Giroux had a good game and it gets 2 'posts' ~Start a topic about how Giroux snubs the media and it goes 6 pages ...
  14. @aziz It could be that 18 players have all lost confidence to some extent, which in turn leads to all sorts of problems..both individually and as a team. Could it be something simple as simply just getting confidence back...somehow ?
  15. I agree. The coaching plays a significant role in putting the players in position to succeed. But something tells me Berube and Lappy are not the kind of coaches that preach positioning.... Hence the problem. But management hired guys like Berube, Stevens, and Lappy....
  16. @magnumpi "Everyone becomes a loser when they play for this team. Why is that?" I think this is actually the important question here... The only thing I can deduce is that this organization does an excellent job of (for the most part) assembling a good team 'on paper', but fails to find the right mix of personality and skill set .
  17. whY dO yoU capitalizE thE firsT letteR oF everY worD ? @pensuck
  18. I agree. Berube is not a tactician (even though Homer made the statement that Berube is one of the most brilliant minds in hockey) The evidence is in the four-ring circus unfolding on the ice every night.
  19. Giroux definitely added fuel to the fire by walking out, but I think the media in Philly just creates an environment where the players deep down simply resent their approach. After a while they become sour playing here and dealing with this same crap every night. LA was perfect for Richards because there are so many distractions going on over there that most people can just enjoy the games and get their drama from the Lakers or what stupid sh#t people are doing in Hollywood....and more importantly Richards and Carter don't have to repeat the same cliches every interview. I seriously think Toronto, Philly, and New York are the hardest cities to play for when you factor in the constant media scrutiny.
  20. Well said Brelic. As frustrated as I am with this team, the problem is not just Giroux. I think the media makes it all worse, not better.
  21. @ruxpin These two buffoons will be gone. It's simply a matter of time. Hopefully it's before the draft so our new GM can clear house and stock up on picks.
  22. @radoran Haha... This sums up our season when on any given night this thread is still relevant.
  23. It's a sad day in Flyerland when Cam Janssen is more of a 'difference maker' than Giroux.
  24. @FreakinFlyersFan "Hartnell, got to go, find a team, there's always a team. Timonen, don't resign, he will retire. Streit. bad deal, trade him. Just put Mezsaros on waivers and hope someone picks him up already." Don't forget, we also need a new GM. I would hate to see what Homer will do with all that fresh cap space......
