  1. No kidding. Just abysmal. Suprised Fletchy hasn't called me.
  2. Like he even had to tell them, it's pretty much what he's known for. I think it can work, for awhile, until the players all just say **** it and quit on him and he loses the room and we hire an new coach.
  3. Lots of shot blockign too. I think Flyers are tops in the league in blocked shots.
  4. Yeah, well you may be right. I think it's too soon to conclude definatively that he can't be a good pro, and it's not so much "awful" as one dimensional. Maybe he's not coachable. By anyone, much less Torts. But we don't know for sure. I guess we will find out soon enough. I don't have a problem with the gamble, notwithstanding low expectations and all.
  5. There should be a Nuremberg-type trial for the Flyers medical staff and regime. Jesus.
  6. Lol, unlikely. He seems a bit of a Phil Kessel type if you know what I mean? Still kinda has the baby fat. He's listed at 6'1" 195 on the NHL site. To me, that's heavy for today's game. But what do I know. Anyway, Hazy will straighten him out, get him on the VO₂ max machine.
  7. Weird. The Isles extended him in the summer, I wonder what the story is here? You just give up on a top 20 pick?
  8. Damn. I was wondering what was going on with him. I drafted him in my keeper when he was 17 and just loved the pick, he has so much skill in my opinion. And I need him playing! I wonder if this is related at all to his injury last year?
  9. In his draft year (2017, 3rd round) this kid was pretty highly touted. He was 3rd among USDP players in scoring, ahead of guys like Brady Tkachuk. You know, FWIW. I personally don't mind trading for guys who had/have promise like that.
  10. Some of those quotes are probably from me, lol. The guy drives me nuts. I always thought he was a lazy fukcer. I didn't know much about him until he went to Wpg for their playoff run and my immediate reaction to his firt shift as a Jet was that he was badly out of shape. And this was April!
  11. How he made it to the NHL is a mystery to me. He's just a big dummy really.
  12. I swear, one of these days, some fan is just going to go down there and wring his neck (Hayes). Maddening.
  13. Ridiculous scheduling. Two back to backs in one week with travel from the east coast to the west thrown in for good meaure. The positive is all the team chemistry that a trip like that fosters, especially if you get some big road wins like last night.
  14. This is quite a good point. In passing, I can't help but comment on how amazing it is to find yourself in the position of trying to convince other Flyer fans of this!! What a world. I'm a fan from the Bullies era, that was my identify both as a fan and as a player. Still is. But the game has changed, drastically really. The need for skill to win in the NHL is not really debatable. See Makar, Cale. The problem, as Torts has 100% correctly identified, is that we have a skill deficit, possibly a large one. Also not debatable. So, until we no longer have that deficit, guys like ZM and ND are likely going to play more than *those* young guys, because those young guys aren't skilled enough.
  15. I know many Jets fans that loved Comrie, including some, like my sister and brother in law, who felt he should have gotten the starter job over Helly. That's an extreme position, I will admit, but there's something that people see in Comrie that they really like.
  16. Agreed, I was horrified to see him out there on the PK late in the game. Was he on the PK the whole game? I get that Torts likes him and is wanting to instill confidence, but there's a limit to that. Sure, it looks like genius when it works the first few times. Until it doesn't. And then, it starts to look like the opposite of genius.
  17. Braun is old as dirt and slow, but he was pretty decent last night, especially late in the game. Lots of battle there, which is all you can ask for really.
  18. I agree. There is a discernible difference in the effort level, puck battles etc. I'm not super happy with the execution in terms of passing and stuff, but I assume that stuff took a back seat to all the cardio they were doing in camp. They do look like they are in better condition. It's early days though, I fully expected Torts to have a short term effect, the question is whether it's sustainable. Which I doubt it is.
