  1. No, Lazy Hazy did that all by himself, that is for certain.
  2. Greetings Howie, I think they see a guy who is a pure goal scorer, but small. Maybe a latish bloomer? Zetterberg was a 7th round pick, don't forget. EDIT: one scouting report on him done in his draft year said he needed to improve his skating and his shot. Those are both things that can be done with work. Who knows if he has that worth ethic? I don't. But my assumption is always that when I guy his signed the people doing the signing try to get an answer to that question and it informs their decision. You would hope so at least.
  3. More like he's 36 when he gets the 7 year NTC from the Flyers, but yeah.
  4. I don't know enough to say I agree with you, but this is the kind of insider perspective that is so valuable. I know you're not really an insider (or are you, bwhahahahaha?), but it's awesome. Dillabaugh was in LA and is a Hextall loyalist is part of the problem, right. So, why do incoming GMs and coaches just keep the goalie coach they inherited? It seems to me that it happens frequently. You clear out all the old assistants except for the tendy coach. Seems weird. Or am I off base on that?
  5. I'm not sure what you're suggesting. Bjarnason turned 18 three weeks ago. He's possibly so far away that I'm not sure it informs a decision on Hart. Or do I misunderstand?
  6. Lol, he's a beauty, gets more beauty with every day, every shift.
  7. Good Manitoba boy! I like that he was Captain of his AAA Midget team as a 14 year old Dman.
  8. One of the scouts whose opinion I really value had him ranked 6th. Absolutely loves him. Good post, as always.
  9. Beat me to it with the perfect response.
  10. Oh, I dunno, I think you may have been lost already.
  11. Got my Red Line Report this week - I encourage everyone to get their Draft Guide, it's only $50 and it's fantastic: https://www.redlinereport.com/ They ranked Michkov 2nd, saying: This scoring machine is one of the most brilliant natural snipers to come along in the last decade. Phenomenal pure shooter pinpoints laser beams to whatever corner he decides to pick. Absolutely elite hands and puck skills. An intelligent and gifted playmaker who also has tremendous stickhandling ability. He’s already good at the KHL level. Plays with a lot of confidence. His vision, creativity, and hockey IQ allow him to dominate... potential superstar.
  12. Exactly. Need guys who can help build a culture of winning, a culture of accountability and hard work. Hathaway seems like that type to me. Sure plays like he is.
  13. I still think Heinola could be a dynamic NHLer, has looked very good at times for the Jets, but is on the outside looking in as far as a position on the D rotation goes. Heinola plus picks would work for me maybe.
  14. I don't disagree FD, but a couple of things: 1) he just turned 27 at the end of March; 2) it is partially about potential still. He's not even in his prime as an NHL Dman;; 3) he's one guy on a crap team, a team by the way that ruined the best Dman we've had since Mark Howe, and may have ruined the best goalie we've had since Hextall. It's a wonder Travis doesn't have PTSD.
  15. I disagree. And since we've already established that you don't have a clue when it comes to knowing what makes a good hockey player better than a poor hockey player, we're gonna go with my POV. Plus, this is the Scott Laughton Appreciation Thread, or SLAT. So you're in the wrong place to be making spurious claims about disengenuity, which is a word you just learnt anyway.
  16. Lol, yeah I could see the Jets interested in all home grown boys, but his contract is still an impediment I think. So I just read that piece, Sanheim's NTC only kicked in on July 1? So they should have traded him sooner. I guess they tried. The Jets have some nice prospects, I'm not saying I wouldn't talk to them about TS, but I don't think he's in the same category of others in terms of contracts we have to get rid of.
