  1. Except you are assuming that the highest scoring defenseman isn't the best defenseman. The Norris trophy is the award for the defenseman who possesses the best all around play. And in this case, Karlsson is among the top 5 point producers, for every position... Second highest scoring defenseman is Kilngberg, and he plays with Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin, both in the top 3. Besides, I don't see anyone right now who is exceptional defensively, that it would compensate for the 15-20 plus points Karlsson has over them. Also, Holtby being the best goalie as of now is rather ambiguous imo. The panthers are outshot in the majority of their games yet because of Luongo's stellar play, they are able to gain a point or two. He plays on a evidently worse team yet has 1 save percentage lower. That's miniscule and inconsequential. Now, GAA is a much more team oriented stat. Luongo has a worse GAA yet essentially has the same save percentage as Holtby.
  2. Not to denigrate Teemu Selannes rookie season. But considering time period, higher scoring. I think Ovechkins rookie season could be debated as equally impressive.
  3. Anaheim still has an opportunity to qualify. That doesn't however, speak to them regaining their excellence, but rather the ineptitude that is currently the pacific division.

    Have a Hart

Nicklas Lidstrom, Ray Bourque and Denis Potvin are the only ones I would bestow the hart upon. Paul Coffey I wouldn't rank above Hasek for the hart that season. Hasek had a save percentage of 9.30 when second place had 9.06.. Ideally though, I would have Lindros as the winner, Hasek second and Coffey third...
  5. There's many obscure NHL players that contributed in WW2 and 1 that passed away this year. Anyways, Nice of you to do this tribute.
  6. Honestly, despite all the negativity surrounding Yashin. I think it will be difficult excluding him as a candidate among the best Ottawa players...
  7. He is definitely one of the contenders for the most avaricious hockey players in history, but what makes him even more contentious is how half assed his performances were during postseason. Ofc he would be, he has no potential money to gain during the playoffs...
  8. Because of Bure being a defensive liability? Actually, Bure pre injury was fairly decent defensively and was not as much a liability as people seem to think.
  9. Well, not much to say besides great work!!! Because I find myself agreeing with everything in this entry
  10. just saying, 30 goals was not overly impressive in the era Williams played in...
  11. Great Article, its interesting to know about the players that never played in the nhl or the ones that had their primes in another league. Just a suggestion, maybe you should start with more of some of the Russians that had most of their careers out of the NHL. Kharlamov, Makarov, Larionov, Maltsev, Firsov, fetisov, vasiliev ETC. ( Or maybe, some of the players that had their careers pre 50s, I mean, everyone knows about Richard, but not alot of people mention Shore, Morenz, Cleghorn, Lach, ETC Not saying you have to do any of these if you dont prefer to, just suggestions
  12. discuss anything here that has to do with the Florida panthers.
