There is nothing wrong with missing the playoffs. Missing the playoffs leads to cup wins. How you ask? High draft picks equals guys like Crosby, Mckinnon, Hall, Weber...guys you build around and need to win. You keep retooling and signing free agents and trading young guys away to win now you will never win as proof its been 30 some years since our last cup because of our win now mentality. Sometimes you need to take a step back to take two steps forward. You as a long time follower of the game should know that. The Penguins missing the playoffs more then two years in a row has won them the cup and has the best player in the world on there team. Also I never said I was okay with the way we are playing....

I am sorry but that post made absolutely no sense.... You have no idea where I come from or how long I have been following the game. So basically with the more and more you post the more you prove why us "TRUE" Philly fans get bad names. You contradict yourself in every post you make. You say "we do not tolerate incompetence in Philly" then you say "failures we are used to"??? Really I am the stupid one for getting in a pissing contest with someone who brings nothing to the table as far as debate for our team...just insults and things like "erase the team from history" etc.... I am as mad as the next person with the way this team is playing and if things do not improve moves need to be made "cough" GM "cough" but lets wait and see what happens I got a good feeling for this team tonight vs the Pens.

All do respect radoran its criticism when someone is pointing out the teams weaknesses, or the team needs to do this or the team needs to that etc.... What are you supposed to say to someone when there first post on the topic is "the team should be erased form history" or no point of playing any more this year" That's not criticism...I do not know what that is.

Planned to take a break?....I thought you said you were not an everyday guy....? This team has enough talent, granted I think the defense needs to be faster and more mobile. I would like to see a legit sniper on the wing also... but this team is by no means short on talent just execution.

The passing and puck decisions are so bad it is not funny. They get a hold of the puck and it looks like they do not know what to do with it. They just pass it in some random direction.....especially when they are clearing there own zone or when they enter the opposing zone. I am so sick and tired of the stupid ass backwards passing. How many times do I see a player gun full force into the opposing zone to pass it back wards when they get to the net and the puck ends up going the other way... The shots are low percentage...The only two players that have shown up thus far are Renaldo and Mason that's it!!! Coburn needs to go, all the talent in the world he is horrible out there. Same old dumb mistakes all the time. The still young card is out the window he should be an all star dman with his skill set yet he is constantly on the ice when an opposing team scores... Giroux has all but disappeared also.

I like Lavy a lot. I liked his fire and what he brought to the team. I guess those in the boxing world would day he isn't the best counter puncher. Once a team figures him out it is all over like the Devils did to use two years ago and now other teams.

This would be awesome....! I would love to see posters like Jammer, Flyercanuck, Aziz, Howie and the like to post some questions for Homer. Hell pretty much most of the posters here on the flyers forum I would love to see chat with Holmgren it would be very well thought out discussions and aside from guys like me who never bring anything new or debatable to the table just filler for the website I would be happy just watching. A lot of very smart posters on this forum and would be great for the team and its fans to connect especially with the bull crap we had to go through on silly.com you guys deserve it.

I never said that you wanted Giroux traded....but as far as trading Coots goes...even though you are filling a void in the defense by trading Coots and with VL signing fills the gap. The problem with that is VL wont be playing forever...hes getting older and when he is no longer on the team now we half to fill the center position again with another older player or draft another center. Guys like Laughton are not a sure thing so lets say Giroux and Schenn are the only two centers who reach there potential so now we are out 1 to 2 centers instead of just leaving it being and drafting a dman from the start.

Please Holmgren do not trade any of our forwards especially Read or Coots...let them stay and develop and grow as a team I am so tired of this crap from the management...Like idiots they will trade Read not resign Gags and then they will be the slowest team in the league then when the trade deadline comes they will trade Hartnell and Simmonds for speed and then we will be to soft up front....

Why trade Coots though at all, I do not understand? Why sign Vinny and trade Coots why not just take the time to draft defense and keep your young guys at the same time? Coots is marketable so is Giroux doesn't mean we should trade him because we have a whole in the defense. Yes we are center heavy but it doesn't make sense to me to draft a guy to trade him a year + later...Take the time and draft to fill the holes. What is wrong with having Giroux, Coots, Schenn, and Laughton as your centers. You would be running four solid lines for years. It does not make sense to trade a center for a dman and take an aging player like VL and plug him in the center position for a few years to fill the void you made. I think it is a lateral move you fill one void by creating another. Yes I would like a player that was picked 8th overall in the draft to have a weee bit more talent then Handzus which I think Coots has. Why not move VL to LW see how he does?

You said he doesn't have the foot/skating and he reminds you of Handzus. Well for a top ten pick to me that sounds like a bust.....In my opnion yes he might not be Grabner when it comes to skating that does not mean he will not be a super star some day. His skating is not that bad he did score all those points in the minors for some reason. His rookie year he single handedly shut down the whole Pittsburgh squad. I mean if were going to trade guys that barley played two years because of this and that why even draft at all? Just trade our picks away then...It isn't like VL is the fastest skater you know. Your saying VL who is passed his prime what 34 or 35 years old for $4.5 mil a year is an asset but Coots a guy who again as I stated has not played a full two years of hockey is not an asset, at least a future one? We have not even really see Laughton play yet only a handful of games but he is more of an untouchable then Coots is? Why? It is not a wonder why our rookie players that we draft might start off slow or half to play in the minors for a few years there probably so up tight about performing like Crosby right off the bat or they will be traded for some aging star... or some other teams rookie... Let them be and build a team through the draft and keep the players we draft for more then one season before we call them a bust and trade them off. Not some much directed at you "off_the_post" as more directed to management.

Even though it is a risk with that being said if he does have vertigo he might come cheaper then you would think. It could be a bargain if he comes cheap enough low risk high reward type deal and especially him and Mason rotating in and out.
