  1. In hindsight maybe if Foligno had tried to hurt Frederic immediately after he ripped Zuccarello's helmet off would have cooled Fred of. Maybe not, but the message to the players is you can not turn a blind eye to slightest misdemeanors. One really needs to react resolutely and without exceptions. The message to the Wild's coaching seems to be the the NHL safety board will not be able to or willing to solve these kind of acts. So far there is no sign of any fines or suspensions. The responsibility is the coaching staff's if the NHL/Safety board fails. And yeah, Alexandron, I agree, I don't either remember a time with this many injuries and not only that, but injuries to key players. There is a risk we might miss the playoffs, not because of bad play, but because of an F in protecting players from injuries.
  2. A hell of a win like Jimtown guy said. Boldy looking very, very good indeed. Rossi promising. But that injuring of Kap. They made Frederic bear the responsibility, but what was the message sent to Cassidy? Or the other teams' coaches? What stops them from solving any playoffs series against the Wild by sending a monkey on skates to take out our best player? They should have been running over Swayman or Pastrnak or Marchand until they had an injured star player too. The refs were very good in this game. Still they were helpless against Frederic/Cassidy. We can't win any playoffs series if we don't use the ways of making Kaprizov, the goalie and Brodin untouchable. It has to be Cassidy who warns the Frederics of his team not to take out Wild players. And the only way the Cassidys of this league or any other will do that, is the knowledge the Wild's retribution will be equal to any harm done to the Wild.
  3. The link to the pre-gamer didn't work, so here it is: https://thesportsdaily.com/2022/01/06/game-preview-minnesota-wild-vs-boston-bruins-1-6-22-600pm-cst-at-td-banknorth-garden/ A very important game in the sense that this is the first glimpse into the Wild's future. Boldy, Rossi, Addison, Dewar and can Kahkonen hold the fort? My prediction: 4 - 2 Bruins win, but a good first impression from the newcomers.
  4. Thanks for the clearing of the issue, IllaZilla. It certainly does look less probable when one considers the cap hit effect.
  5. I guess now it's about can Guerin find someone interested in Rask, if Wild pays part of his salary.
  6. It's a beautiful goal. Starts with a nice criss-cross type movement too, with another Av skating first to the other side and then Makar back on the same skate tracks. Just a sight for my 6 game losing streak sore eyes - even though it's the enemy scoring. Damn what a player Makar is
  7. Yeah Boldy, my bad, I don't know why I wrote Beckman. Great to hear they are given a good opportunity. Maybe PP gets better
  8. He's 100 % something Fletcher would find interesting. No worries, though. Rask scores in every game he plays after coming back from a benching - if he plays with the best forward of his team.
  9. It's desperate times for the Wild. A really long list of key players out. We'll have a great opportunity to see how much the addition of Rossi and Beckman will help, and how much responsibility Kahkonen is able to take.
  10. This kind of shows they think that the team needs room for the youngsters. Expect to see more of Rossi, Boldy, Dewar. I think Task would be a serviceable center in a slower team, but I guess his price tag is just too much.
  11. Then she's going to be a life saver in the future as well
  12. Urgh. That's taking one for the team... They do get paid millions, but still...
  13. This goes to show how much humans adjust to their childhood climates. You totally adjusted to tropical heat, and I to the arctic cold. I get irritable if it's over 82F (28 Celsius), at which warmth I never stop sweating either. The only place where a human doing nothing is supposed to sweat is a sauna.
  14. A rough game for the players. And now Talbot's injured too, possibly something that would not have happened if the game had not been played in the cold. Hammond coming over. The good news is that Russo states that Boldy and/or Rossi might have a chance to show up now, due to the injuries. We could end up in a lot of bad games, if the guys are not able to raise their game to compensate for the recovering players.
  15. I think I'm getting old. -9 F (-20 Celsius) feels incredibly cold nowadays. It seems no amount of clothing takes the bite away. It doesn't stop me from cycling to work, though
  16. Clearly a potential doctor, there. What a person
  17. At parts we were so bad that we were just a laughing stock for the viewers. At least Greenway falling down for no reason at all got some attention from Gretzky and the commentators. Nice comeback, though, after the Blues stopped playing.
  18. There's no question this is an important game. 1. We need the points from a rival. 2. We need the recognition gained from a huge event like this. 3. We need to end the skid. 4. We need to show the coaching team extension decision was the right one. 5. We need to gain an edge against a potential playoffs rival. I hate to write this prediction, but I'll go with a clear Blues win, 5 -2. Losing 4 in a row, losing key players from the line-up, then facing a majorly important challenge with a week's pause... "bad trouble", like Easy Pete from Fallout New Vegas would say.
  19. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/wild-sign-head-coach-dean-evason-entire-staff-multi-year-extensions/ Evason and coaching team extended. Personally I would have liked to see how the next few games go. We're on a 4 (IIRC) game losing streak right now.
  20. It's either live-with-it as Alexandron wrote or the bubble. Man, this really sucks. Bedard and Power were already in just a few games doing such exceptional stuff. Now we'll just have to hope Omicron doesn't wreck the rest of the NHL season as well.
  21. No Czechia - Finland match covid in the Czech team.
  22. Canada -USA semi-finals now a possibility - if either of the teams don't get no more infections...
  23. There goes the games down the drain. Why do the teams have expanded rosters if they are not used? It's hard to imagine any of the teams could go through this with no infections.
