  1. @All Like I said, chirping is chirping. I like chirping, by no means am I saying players should be ''banned'' for chirping. But, there is a fine line between chirping and telling someone you are going to give them a head shot. This **** needs to be out of the game and so does Rinaldo. So what you will about me.
  2. But there is a fine line between saying "I'm going to kill you tonight" and "When you're head's down, I'm taking it off." How many times has there been an attempted murder in a hockey game vs taking a head shot at a player. And as for him getting better, I apologize as I don't watch many Flyers games, but he just seems like a player who is only out there to take cheap shots at people from what I have seen.
  3. But it was done, Crombeen was a foot away from hitting the ice, he was in a vulnerable situation...
  4. @albertaflyer I know, I don't mean Rinaldo in specific, but he is a main guy I'd like to see out of the game.. head shots are a sensitive subject, and as a guy who has been through 4 concussions playing hockey, I want to see this mentality out of the game.
  5. @Jmdodgesrt4 I can think of many ways to intimidate someone on the ice without threatening to take off their head. Rinaldo is a goon, nothing more and nothing less. Has 0 talent. He didn't break the code because the ref said so? I seen a thing on TSN where DOZENS of players (including fighters) were asked if he broke the code and ALL of them said yes. You need to get your facts straight.. Rindalo is Avery 2.0 with less talent. @AJgoal He was still up? He was about a foot away from hitting the ice when Rinaldo sucker punch'd him.
  6. Not sure if this is old or not but I just seen this quote and thought it was disgusting... That's the mentality we need to get out of the game. Isn't Rinaldo the guy that ''broke the code'' as well? This guy needs to get the f' out of hockey.
  7. @jammer2 He will get top line minutes, Cole's departure leaves a spot on the top 2 lines, plus Rene Bourque is out with a concussion.. hopefully Galchenyuk can take advantage of the minutes, but then again, the line with Prust centring Gallagher and Galchenyuk have been our best line all season.. I'm sure Therrien will figure it out
  8. Really like this deal for Ryder. We acquire a veteran guy who has 14 points (Cole has 6) and a 3rd round pick. Ryder's contract expires at seasons' end and is 1M cheaper than Cole's. Great pick up! I think Joey N should just resign his position before its too late...
  9. The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Simon Gagne from the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday for a conditional fourth round pick in 2013.
  10. Max Pacioretty will have a little chat with Shannaban later this afternoon. Although I didn't watch the game, I heard from friends it was a great game and was a fought hard battle between both teams. Then the ugliness of Max Pacioretty shows... Like they said in the video, McDonagh WITHOUT A DOUBT knows the hit is coming. He does turn into the hit, which is a sneaky thing to do. McDonagh does deserve some criticism for what he did. I'm not trying to downplay the hit. Considering Patches' past, he shouldn't be going around recklessly hitting players like that, which makes me question his maturity level. McDonagh nailed Pacioretty into the boards earlier in the game, so there was maybe some intent from Max. Max also appears to leave his feet ever so slightly as well. This was exaggerated greatly by NYR coach John Torterella. My verdict: A 1 game suspension. 2 tops. Max needs to stop being so reckless out on the ice, and McDonagh (and all players in hockey) needs to stop risking their own health for the chance of a power play.
  11. Uh... ya Vancouver is pretty baby'd by the league. It may be tough to see from inside the box but ask any other fan and they'll say yes..
  12. Lol prejudice? Buddy if you think the league is out to get your team you must have you head somewhere the sun don't shine... Vancouver is one the league's golden boy's, I'm amazed Hansen even got suspended.
  13. Omg... I seriously thought Leaf fans were the worst complainers in the NHL... wrong... Canuck fans are terrible...
  14. Hm... honestly if I'm Detroit, I pull the trigger on that immediately. Losing Howard would hurt, but I'm a believer in Petr Mrazek. He has game and is the goalie of the future. Can you imagine a line of Kessel-Datsyuk-Zetterberg? Or even Kessel-Datsyuk-Helm is scary... If I'm Toronto I add Reimer and make you give up a young forward.
  15. @flyerrod He turns into the boards? Uh.... why don't you watch that again Rod... And please, show me the cheap hit from behind Emelin did... lastly, if that was a hip check then my name is Bettsy-Sue.
  16. Yikes... that is a borderline hit... I think Schenn should get a ban, 2 games. 1) Schenn makes NO attempt at retrieving the puck 2) Gallagher's numbers are the first thing hit..
  17. @jammer2 He is posting nice numbers in the American League, and I'm willing to bet Budaj could be traded close to the dead line this year as his contract is almost up... any one looking for a dependable back up... like oh I don't know, the Flyers'?
  18. *taken from TSN.ca* The Montreal Canadiens and the Tampa Bay Lightning have swapped a pair of AHL goaltenders. On Thursday, the Habs sent Cedrick Desjardins to the Lightning for Dustin Tokarski. Tokarski, who the Lightning selected 122nd overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, has played in 33 games with the Syracuse Crunch this season, posting an 18-8-4 record with a 2.46 GAA. Desjardins is 7-13-2 with a 2.94 GAA this season with the Hamilton Bulldogs ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Hm... I watched Tokarski play in the world juniors a few years back, and he was nothing but spectacular. All I remember from that 2009 WJC (besides that AMAZING Jordan Eberle goal) is Pierre Mcquire, prematurely orgasming to the beautiful, once in a life time save Tokarski made against an American player. Pretty sure he also led the Norfolk Admirals to the Caldar Cup last season, too. Tokarski has a very high ceiling, he could be a starter in the NHL some day... which leads me to wonder 2 things; 1) Is Carey Price frustrated in Montreal? 2) Is Stevie Y out of his mind? Well, first thing's first. Probably not. Price just signed a 6 year deal, he's not going anywhere for awhile. Secondly... I think so... I mean why trade a young, successful AHL talent who has a very high ceiling, for a life time AHL player, who clearly has worse stats when comparing the two? No clue... Anyways, what do you guys think??
  19. Good read Personally I love the shootout.
  20. Sometime back in the long, long summer of Habs fans' most recent discontent, I thought about compiling a top ten of the best moments from last season. It wasn't easy. It was, after all, a desperately depressing year. Still, after some thought, I did come up with ten small things we could take to heart from 2011-12. It never got published because, in the end, I felt celebrating just ten things in a wasteland of a season seemed a little hopeless. For what it's worth, though, number three in that top ten was Lars Eller's four-goal night. That was such fun for fans. It was one of those nights when potential became reality for one sparkling game. Even better was Eller's over-the-top, exuberant basking in the glow of the Bell Centre crowd after his first-star selection. The quiet, obliging Dane who lived mostly in the shadow of his more in-your-face teammates knew enough to let loose and celebrate his moment in the sun. The guys in the room still poke fun at it, but that's because they like Eller and it certainly was an occasion to remember. It was also an occasion to take notice. Eller was a first-round pick in the same 2007 draft as Max Pacioretty and P.K. Subban. He came with a scouting report that lauded him as a fine skater, a "mature two-way player with a fine shot and above-average playmaking skills." The fact that his first-round selection wasn't a surprise speaks for itself. When the Habs traded Jaro Halak for Eller, his stock was still high as a promising prospect. Canadiens fans in favour of the trade saw him as a future Tomas Plekanec, but bigger. Now, almost three years later, he finds himself stuck on third or fourth lines most of the time, averaging only about 12-13 minutes of ice time per game. This season, he's getting about a minute of PP time per game, but in the two years previous, his average time on the PP was 25 seconds a night. He, as so many prospects before him, fell into a situation early in his NHL career in which he was forced to work his way up the lineup with limited minutes and limited linemates. Now, at 23, he's at a make-or-break point in his career. Either he breaks through or he'll end up pigeon-holed as a big, low-scoring journeyman with wasted potential. Michel Therrien has pretty much confirmed that, saying he wants more from Eller; that it's time for him to take the next step. To make that happen, Eller now needs better linemates and better minutes. The problem is, those things aren't readily available unless there's an injury or a slump, neither of which is desirable. He also needs time on the PP and a chance to play his natural centre position with players who can finish. This week, Therrien has decided to switch things up, mainly because of the lack of execution of last year's first line. David Desharnais and the foggy Erik Cole will now be playing with Brandon Prust, while Max Pacioretty has moved to play with the Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk. Eller, once again, has been bypassed for ice time and linemates, this time by the rookie Galchenyuk. And Desharnais continues to hold a centre spot ahead of Eller while not really producing. An interesting comparison for Eller is teammate Pacioretty. His first two seasons in Montreal, totalling 34 and 52 games, resulted in 11 and 14 points respectively. In the first season, he averaged about 12-13 minutes per game, got a minute a night on the PP and spent most of his shifts with Tomas Plekanec and Alex Kovalev. The second year, 2009-2010, he got 30 seconds a game on the PP and skated mostly with Travis Moen and Glen Metropolit. In other words, he had an Eller season. Unsurprisingly, his PPG total dropped from 0.32 in the first year, to 0.26 in the second. There was a lot of talk at the time about Pacioretty being another Habs first-round bust. It didn't help when he started the following year in Hamilton and didn't get called up until Christmas. Yet, given a chance to build up some confidence with the Bulldogs and a place in the top-six when recalled to Montreal, Pacioretty blossomed and became the key component of the Habs youth movement we see today. The clock is ticking for Lars Eller. If a guy hasn't made a solid impact on an NHL roster by 24 or 25, he starts to look like trade bait. I think Eller's got too much ability to be allowed to drift away. It would be similar to having let Pacioretty go two years ago. It's fine then, for Therrien to say he wants more from Eller, but he's got to do his part as well. He has to put Eller in a position to succeed and let the player do the rest. We've seen him show signs of real ability. It was one of the very few high points from the 2011-12 Habs lost season.
  21. Mistake me if I'm wrong, as I do not watch a lot of Flyers' games, but it seems as so that Peter Laviolette, has lost the respect of his team. It seems apparent that the players have just had enough, as they have not been responsive. Many could put the blame of the Flyers' slow start on Homer, because he signed Bryz and let Jagr walk.. but it is more than that, at least how I see it.. When I brought this up in the game chat a few nights ago, many of you were content with the idea, and brought up the concern "Well who is out there that we can bring in?" Well, ladies and gentlemen, meet the (should be) candidates of the next NHL job (with the Flyers' or any other team) Dallas Eakins Current Position: Head coach of the AHL's Toronto Marlies I am a believer that Dallas Eakins SHOULD have been hired as the Leaf's head coach when the team decided to fire Ron Wilson. Instead, Burke decided to bring in old pal Randy Carlyle. Anyways, Eakins is leading arguably the best team in the AHL right now, and I believe much like Kirk Muller, he is the next young coach to get a job in the NHL. Also an interesting note, Eakins will be coaching the AHL all star game this season. Guy Carbonneau Free Agent 'Carbs' would be a great coach for the Flyers. He excelled in a defensive role in the NHL, after being a prolific scorer in junior (ala Coots?) winning the Selke trophy several times before retiring. While coaching Montreal, he lead them to a 1st place finish in the Eastern Conference when the team wasn't even supposed to make the play offs. He is an excellent defensive coach, good with the media and helped groom Carey Price into the goalie he is today, and Price, along with other veteran Habs' players will often speak of Carbonneau with praise and credit him for being a good coach. He is strict and disciplined, and isn't afraid to call out a slumping player. I wish Carbonneau was still coaching in Montreal. Larry Robinson: Current Position: Assistant coach of The San Jose Sharks Larry Robinson, hall of fame defenceman, is also a name floating around that could soon be hired as a head coach. He is often spoken of by his peers and by the media as the best assistant coach in hockey right now, so he has something going for him. He led the Devils to two Stanley Cups in the late 90's and early 2000's as the head coach, and again led them to the Cup finals last year as an assistant coach. He is a ''player's coach'' and is good with younger players. Steve Spott: Current Position: Head Coach of the OHL's Kitchener Rangers Spott was the coach of the recent Team Canada in the World Juniors. While the team did finish with a disappointing Bronze medal, Spott was a shining star on Team Canada. He has coached some of the best young players in the world, whether it be in Kitchener or in Ufa, Russia. He is an offensive guru, often creating plays that turn the other team inside-out and is the original mastermind of the infamous 1-3-1 forecheck system that we all know the Flyers' love. Anyways, there you have it. Personally these four should have NHL jobs right now, but the Flyers' would be smart to snatch one of them up and I would guarantee that the Flyers' would be a better team.
  22. Really like the idea of that Finnish guy coming in!
  23. So, I've had these past few days off work and I've been playing NHL 13 on PS3, almost non-stop. I completely rebuild my Habs and led them to a few Stanley Cups. Then, I got bored and started over. This time, as your Philadelphia Flyers. I am currently in year 4 and here's what the team looks like.... *red numbers = overall rating* LW C RW Voracek(89) - Giroux(90) - Corey Perry(88) Hartnell(84) - Tyler Seguin(89) - Ryan Clowe(84) Mason Raymond(81) - B. Schenn(82) - Simmonds(83) Byron Bickell(76) - Talbot(79) - Chris Neil(77) LD RD Timonen(85) - Meszaros(85) Chris Phillips(84) - L.Schenn(85) Foster(77) - Gervais(77) Starting Goalie: Alex Fontinos(92) *drafted 3rd overall in 2013* Back Up: Alex Stalock(83) What I did was, I traded some of the vets (i.e Briere, Pronger, Grossmann, Bryz, Coburn, etc.) for 1st round picks and tanked year 1. The result was goalie Alex Fontinos and he is a beast. Last season, we won the Presidents Trophy and the Stanley Cup, with Fontinos picking up the Conn Smythe, Vezina, Hart, Ted Lindsay, and Jennings trophies for his effort (47 wins, .945 sv%, 1.59 GAA. 11 shutouts).. Clowe was a great pick up from San Jose notching an average of 67.9 points per year since I've acquired him. G is doing great too, posting 90+ point seasons.. Seguin (who was a waiver pick up ffs {they need to fix that}) is excelling at the 2nd line centre spot, scoring 109 points last season while in between Clowe and Hartnell, who picked up a respectable 80 points. Corey Perry was literally stolen from Anaheim... think I gave up Rinaldo, a 1st round pick and Leighton for him (sometimes the game is stupid). The whole time I had him, I had him lined up with Schenn and Cooter (who is playing in the AHL right now, didn't trade him!) and he was only scoring 50 points, so hopefully putting him beside Voracek and Giroux will boost his points up... Anyways, just thought I'd post this because I think this team is filthy and I may have to trade some guys away next off season due to salary cap issues... Habsguy26
  24. hm... not sure I'd pull the trigger on this one... Add Subban and Coots and you have a deal
  25. Thomas traded to isles. Seen it on twitter. Was chasing it down all day at work, and Ek confirms it. No word on whats coming back (from what I've heard).
