Tanev had NO clue he was coming. Head down and away from Howden ... AND ...he DID NOT have possesion of puck. Tanev get hit above the shoulder in the neck and head area as you see his head snap to the side. From the other angle .... Shoulder in head ..... Now do I believe Howden purposely went head hunting ...no I don't think so ... Tanev had his head down. However, by the very nature up the hit and the nature of the rules .... This was a head shot the league is trying to eliminate. I am absolutely OK with a 5 minute match penalty and game misconduct. I don't think Howden has any history of discipline, therefore, I suspect maybe a 1 or 2 game suspension with an appropriate monetary fine.

Totally agree here ....what is most perplexing is why in the H. E. double hockey sticks did Carolina sign BOTH Andersen and Raanta??? You can make an arguement for signing either Andersen or Raanta but NOT both. Then keep Koochie as your backup as soon as Andersen gets hurt ...and you know he will. I think Carolina was trying to get too cute with the situation.

Hence the reason part of me did niot want to draft Andesen in NAHANA. Even more perplexing is RoP slotting him as a Keeper. I know we all know this kids potential but with the Canes resigning BOTH Andersen and Raanta, the writing on the wall to me is Kochetkov will be in the AHL to start the season. Why waste a Keeper spot on him? The NAHANA draft could have been very different had he kept Grubauer as a Keeper and let Kochetkov go. I might have drafted Andersen (assuming Lady still goes Swayman) and then MD would have really been up the creek without a paddle. So intersting on how this all played out ........
