  1. It took way too long, but I'm happy he's finally in there - totally deserving.
  2. Bryan Bickell says "hello". Try again. And how anyone could knock Hartnell of my skates remains a mystery to me.
  3. The Jets may want to keep him, but they were scared of starting him. Pavelec's numbers are decidedly Bryz-like, but management seems to have an erectile function for him. Soooo, I wonder what Montoya thinks of that situation.
  4. @King Knut You're not alone about Coburn. I think Lavy et all asked Coburn to be Coburn AND Matt Carle this year and that just didn't work out. I think having Streit will release some of that obligation from Coburn and I expect a bounce-back season out of him. For the record, I thought we should have resigned Carle long before he got to free agency. Might have saved a million a year or so.
  5. If you guys think Kessel is one-dimensional, watch Kane for more than 2 games. He's young and has plenty of room to expand his game, but we've already got plenty of those types of players for a lot less money. Kane is about as streaky a scorer as a 30 goal man can be, actually. Heard that Burmistrov might be offered an inflated contract to go to the KHL. Speaking of which, in the same discussion they mentioned on TSN Radio that there are rumours that an owner in the KHL is offering Bobrovsky 10 million to go to Russia next season.
  6. My understanding is that he plays too much East/West and not enough North/South for Noel's liking. I don't disagree that he's been misused, but Noel isn't going to hand anyone a spot on the top 2 lines without the player earning it (or more accurately - appearing to earn it).
  7. Coach Noel is trying to turn him into a hockey player and Burmi really does not like that. It's not even close to a secret in Winnipeg. Now, Gary Lawless is a blowhard, but we've got 2 real hockey writers (Tim Campbell and Ed Tait) saying the same thing. http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/columnists/burmistrov-wants-out-of-winnipeg-208450711.html
  8. The source of this rumour is as follows: The afternoon drive show on TSN Radio Winnipeg (1290) simply floated a what if since it's widely reported that Burmistrov wants out and everyone is frustrated by Byfuglien's inconsistency. They made it clear there was NO basis for this rumour and that it was strictly hypothetical just to try and get callers in with their own ideas. I was listening to show at that time, so I know. Relax, men. Yechlund sure has some solid sources....
  9. I took Bryz for a bright guy, but apparently he can't see past what he's learned in the Russian school system. Then again, Americans still celebrate Columbus as some kind of hero and some even fly confederate flags. Canadians vote for Stephen Harper. There's a lot of ignorance everywhere.
  10. They'd be nuts to deal Pietrangelo, but I would think that any discussions would begin with B Schenn and a few more additions (top 4 d-man and a pick?). The Schenn brothers probably wouldn't be too far off if the Blues were interested in dealing.
  11. The Blues depth chart at centre shows: Backes Jaden Schwartz Sobotka Andy McDonald Steen and Berglund (I believe) can take regular turns in the middle. That ain't no great hell, right there. If you want to offer them something they need, it had better include a centre. Schwartz has a bright future, but at 5'10, he's never going to be their #1. As much as I like Couturier, that might be your carrot (plus someone). The return better be a top pair d-man, though. If I could get Pietrangelo back, I would trade any centre except Giroux.
  12. I don't think Briere, Read and a 1st would get Pietrangelo, never mind Pietrangelo plus Halak and a 1st
  13. “You just have to be physically mature,” explained Aaron Ekblad, a defender for the Barrie Colts, who started the OHL Championship series last Friday against the London Knights." Check that box off.
  14. @TedZep, @B21: On the other hand, the possibility of making a team play with a smaller roster might actually make Shanahan think before he passes judgement. I'm so naïve....
  15. If Columbus made the playoffs, Bobrovsky would be a shoo-in. But they didn't, so I can't vote for his super-human effort and brilliant season.
  16. And Bob Mckenzie has Nurse rated at tied for 10th now. Is there a chance we get him?
  17. The only way Briere will get traded now is if someone is desperate to get to the cap floor before next season starts. It's a shame that he was "injured" before the deadline. While I also appreciate his playoff contributions, it really is time to move on. I don't think it does much good for the locker room to have grossly overpaid (even cap-wise) players sitting beside you taking up huge pieces of the payroll pie and contributing little. It sure didn't hurt the Habs when they got rid of Gomez.
  18. On another note, I can't believe there were already 82 other "toughfighters" when you created your account.
  19. I get what you're saying, but you may also want to do the ppg for last season as well if you're going to do it for this year - I'm not at work, so I can't commit to that kind of effort right now.. As you noted, the roles, linemates and draft position kind of make RNH and Landeskog unfair comparisons anyway. Regardless, production is down across the board among players who played both years, true?
  20. I thought we weren't considering the apples and oranges....
  21. Aziz I guess my emphasis of "really" was lost when I typed it. You should have heard how loud I said it in my head.
  22. @B21 Since we're so willing to speak without considerations given to apples and oranges and living in the world of hypothetical, allow me to say that Thomas Fleischman is a better player than Malkin because he has 1 more point than Evgeny this year.
