I'm thinking soon.
-
They can't..buyouts are for 2013-2014 season..not the one we hope will start in a few weeks. From what I've read that's been agreed to by both parties.
That's fine.
-
I wonder, I just wonder if Nashville would be allowed to cut Webers contract? They would be able to save face by saying that they can't afford him due to the shortened season in a small market.
-
@activestick I'm one of those guys who think Danny B is not done, that his numbers will bounce back...but you'd be crazy to at not least entertain the thought of slicing Danny B, going real young and you still have Prongers money (assuming the LTIR rules are not changed....can't see it changing).
Oh yeah, I have thought about it and I agree with you. Briere is a big cap hit and you have to consider his salary/productivity ratio. And he is getting on in age. But on the plus side, he flips a switch in the playoffs. The nice thing is that they will have a shortened season and playoffs to evaluate what to do. I doubt they cut anyone till after this season.
-
It sounds like they will have the buyout option up to the start of next season. So, I would guess that they play Bryz for this shortened season and see how does and then decide what to do. If they cut Bryz immediately, they have no goalie. At least not an NHL level goalie.
-
@activestick That's where I saw it also...buh bye Bryz!!
Yep, Bryz and Pronger off the cap.
-
On Hockeybuzz.com, Eklund is reporting that each team may be granted 2 contract buyouts. Interesting.
-
And cut the guy some slack!! Maybe he just happens to think the Biebs is dreamy!!!??? Sheesh.

Well, what can you say? It fits, right?
-
hahaha, just kidding. Not even an NHL lockout can make me watch that ridiculous game.......show........whatever you want to call it. I think I'd rather go to work. Dumbest game on the planet.
-
There is no way they hand Bryz $50 Mil for one season. Pronger will be the buyout.
-
probably one of the steps in the process required to go on the LTIR

i'd rather they give the young guys a chance, at least until the trade deadline. I'm tired of the old guy routine.

Ya a big NO to the original thread topic (Doan), and a doble NO F'ING WAY to that Ryan trade propsosal.
Look, Homer took a couple big swings and missed. Let that be that and let's go into the season like we all said after the draft....with an opportunity to watch these young guys develop
Im with you. Ryan would be a really nice addition, but not at that cost. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much.
-
......uuuuuuuh, no.
-
Okay, but at what cost?? Anaheim wants Schenn or Courturier. Sorry, Ryans 30 goals are not worth that to me. Also, Ryan is starting to sound like a whiny ******. Lets put the shoe on the other foot and say Ryan is a Flyer and grew up in SoCal and he comes out and complains about how many rumors he hears about how the Flyers are trading him all the time. I mean christ, lets look at JVR- he never whined about it at all and he also had signed a similar contract to Ryans. I don't want Ryan on this team. Not for the assets that it would cost.
Give me Perry as a UFA next season.
Well that's just the thing. It would depend on the cost. But, we still do need another winger, assuming Doan signs somewhere else.
-
I simply do not understand this overwhelming need most Flyers fans feel to do anything, anything at all costs. Just stand pat right now Homer. If you can land Doan that's cool but otherwise LEAVE THE FRICKIN' TEAM ALONE. There will be time and cap space to make in season adjustments (if there is a season)...
Ordinarily, I would agree with you, but, Ryan is a guaranteed 30 goals minimum. We need another wing.

If it does get to the point where they want to trade him, what's to stop them from trading him to Detroit or Pittsburgh or any other team in the NHL? He does not have a NTC in the contract, so he has no say in where he would go.
I heard he asked for a NTC.

Weber is there long term... plain and simple
It all depends how well the Preds do. If the Preds suck in the next season or two, they won't want to pay that salary anymore. They'll trade him to the Flyers for player/s,pick/s but more importantly cash, to make up for what the Preds will pay him up front in the next season or two.
-
Anybody know when Doan is supposed to decide where he is going to play? Do you think Philly is a realistic possibility?
I'd rather have Bobby Ryan, if the trade cost isn't sky high. Maybe dump a couple of those #1 picks we were willing to give to Nashville? It may take a little more than that though.
-
He did a pretty darn good job in Anaheim. Won a Cup there.
He will turn Toronto around, if given enough time. (That team has been a mess for a long time - how quickly was he supposed to get them back to the playoffs?)
He's been there since 2008. Seems they should have at least made the playoffs by now.
-
.....what exactly does Brian Burke do anyway?
This guy is the GM of hockey mecca and his teams continue to suck year in and year out. It's not that I care. Actually I love it. But, in watching Homer go about business as norm by trying to acquire every quality player available, this clown in Toronto doesn't seem to have a clue and pisses and moans about every long term contract that gets signed. Well, HELLO!!!!! If the long term deals gets it done and gains serious talent for your team, maybe you should consider it. What a putz. I'm tired of hearing this guy cry.

We just lost a winger (Jagr) and needed to replace him.
have to disgree with you there. I don't think Fedetenko was brought in to play with Giroux.

When does a trade for another D'Man happen?
in Philadelphia Flyers

I don't think depth is the problem either. It's lack of a top tier player that is.
