2023-24 Phantoms/Flyer prospects

Who do you want want then?

It would be really nice to grab a potential top line centre or defenceman. Helenius, Parekh, Iginla, Dickinson, another shot at a Jiricek, Yaremchuk...any of them over a one dimensional winger.

If we didn't already have Konecny, Forester, Tippett and Michkov in the pipeline, and did have a great centre and defenceman prospect, then maybe Eisserman would fit the bill. Clearly he can score. All those guys I named, including Eisserman, NEED a centre.

I think there's going to be a handful of players available at #12 that are fairly equal as far as BPA (depending on how the draft shakes out of course)

I got to thinking about it and as much as I want centers this draft, they might be better off holding off until next year to draft a center or centers. Instead, I hope they land Yakemchuk and Elick. Give me two right handed defensemen with size, a seriously mean disposition, one who has offensive skills like John Carlson and the other is an elite shut down defender. They can then move Drysdale to the left side and let him roam from his offside.

Disappointed Kolosov isn't getting the start. No reason to even be playing Petersen.

Flyers do know there is nothing to be gained by tanking in the AHL right?

That would be soooooo Flyers to tank in the AHL.

What, we don't get to pick 1st in the AHL draft? Who knew?

This is that stupid mentality that you have to 'earn' your spot and that veterans are ALWAYS given the preferential treatment. It's a ****** joke. Another reason that Puckhead needs to go. He knows nothing of player development.

Nice to see them win but damn sure would be nice to see more of the kids who were drafted played than some of the AHL scrubs...this club is clueless how to develop it's players...you'd at least think they would know they have to PLAY to develop.

But no i only counted 8 effin players in the lineup who actually played.

8 of 20 players not even half the roster is development players.

WTF are we doing here Flyers...if you want the kids to gain experience hopefully you want it on the ice and not in the sky box making popcorn.

Damn all these scratches????

Wow.

The AHL does not have a roster limit like the NHL (limited to 23 players).  A game roster is the same as NHL…18 skaters and 2 goalies.  13 of the skaters have to be considered “development players” with 320 or less professional games.

Interesting...

TANK TANK TANK TANK

Well 17 year old James Hagens got his record at 22 points, though he was held pointless in the gold medal game. Meanwhile likely generational talent Gavin McKenna scored 3 goals and added an assist as Canada won gold. He finished with 20 points and led the tournament in goals, as a 16 year old.

You want to tank, THIS is the guy you do it for. 2026!

Is it just me or does Emil Andrae not get enough love around here? He's going to be really good when he arrives. I'm going to give Flyers management kudos on this one. They did him right by sending him to Lehigh Valley and play him in all situations. Not only that, but they left him there uninterrupted and let him play. That was an incredibly smart move. Same with Tuomaala. I think Andrae is a top four next season and while Tuomaala might need a little bit more seasoning, when he arrives, he's going to make things interesting on the right side. Somebody will be moving left side.

I watched parts of 2 Calder Cup  games (Hershey Vs LHV).

Two things stood out.

Cal Peterson is terrible even with the blind squirrel shut out to his credit he is bad at hockey.

The Bears are a very good AHL franchise. Peterson makes them look like  the 1970s MLT Canadiens.

The line up of Lyksell, Brink and a bunch of never wills was disappointing to see.

More prospects played on defense but they are hard for me to really judge because Peterson is so bad.

An example,  there were multiple scrum goals  where guys had sticks tied up and multiple bodies were around the crease. This would go on for 10 -20 seconds ,( felt like abln eternity) because Peterson couldn't  cover the puck. Eventually the puck squirts to an uncovered Bear who scores.

The boys were doing what they should be doing but the keeper let them down.

I often think @BobbyClarkeFan16 is too hard on CTE Lapperrier, but he has a point. The kids mostly weren't playing in these games. I think that's a missed opportunity.

I'm just happy with all the playing time 22 year old Alexei Kolosov got playing net behind a playoff team pushing for the Calder Cup.

So thankful for Lappy for that crucial piece of growing and building on experience in life that will help him towards actually winning a Stanley Cup.

He will look back at this and remember where it all started...

Seeing the way Fedotov played in his limited starts gives me reason to have a little grace for Lappy with Kolosov.

If he comes over and immediately gets lit up in the minors- that could stunt his development, or shade the perception of him by his peers.

Maybe.

That said.

He most likely wouldn't have been worse than Peterson.

It's an AHL a step down from the big league

he is coming from playing 53 games in the KHL and playoffs

they could have given the kid a start

as you said Petersen was his typical self.

Let them fight together.

Not the same as Ivan who would have been King Nothing.

No worries now except what their plan is moving forward...keeping Lappy i feel is a mistake but expected.

You know what else could stunt his development?

NOT PLAYING.

@flyercanuck

Kindly see my first post about the CCPOs on this page.

This was a missed opportunity.

I did. This is just yet another reason why this looks like the same old Flyers. The AHL should be a farm system to develop your players. But Flyer management thinks getting those veterans in there gives you a better chance to win. That may be true in the "now", but it doesn't help for long term development. The BIG PICTURE just doesn't exist with these people.
