Icechipper Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Bergeron, Toews both available. Maybe. Maybe not. Zach Parise, anyone? Tarasenko? Hell, Patrick Kane..... Wheeler in Winnipeg and Duschesne in Colorado released for buyouts. Would think Minnesota might take a chance on a veteran center, even if he's not ready to play, right away...... Quote
Brewin Flames Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Quick to the NY Rangers Lucic coming back to boston Quote

Not sure if any of the available are willing to take what Minnesota can afford to offer. 1 Quote
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 First off, thank you @Icechipper for starting this thread. Was going to start one shortly after the draft, but never got to it, so I appreciate it. Next...Oliver Ekman-Larsson, after being bought out by the Canucks, was rumored to be going to the Tampa Bay Lightning on a short term, low priced deal to try and 'revive' himself (kinda like the Bolts and Kevin Shattenkirk did some years ago). Thankfully that ISN'T the case. OEL has signed with the Florida Panthers instead, a one year, 2.25M 'show me' contract to, ahem, "solidify the blueline" Panthers DO need defensemen, but the brand of 'defense' OEL brings? I don't think that's it, but hey, if signing over there keeps him away from the Bolts then...DAMNED GOOD SIGNING, MEN! 1 Quote
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Rumblings around the league that the Maple Leafs may be interested in adding Ryan Reaves to their team for his toughness, leadership, and experience. Another one. Have at it boys. I mean, with Reaves on the Leafs, I am sure we will be treated to TSN or NHL Network coverage to "A Day in the Life of a Pair of Fists on Skates" segments.... Quote
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Nashville finally gets their 1C! Ryan O'Reilly signs there...4 years, 4.5M AAV. Not bad, Nashville, not bad. Should be a nice upgrade from Matt Duchene. One caveat: Can the Preds surround ROR with enough talent to bring out the most in him? He HAS been known to 'disappear' and even sulk a bit if things aren't quite to his liking. But the actual player himself, at that value, is pretty nice. 1 Quote

TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 NY Rangers pick up Blake Wheeler and Jonathan Quick. Hmmm...a pair of re-treads. Although, with Quick, if he truly has embraced a back up role, could work out nicely insulating Shesterkin. Quick looked VERY old and tired last year, but could just be he no longer is starter material and could flourish as a backup to 'Everyday Shester' 1 Quote

Brewin Flames Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 July 1 Connecticut native Jonathan Quick is coming (close to) home, as the veteran goalie has reached a one-year, $825,000 pact with the Rangers. After being traded to the Sharks prior to the draft, goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood has inked a two-year, $4.7 million deal. After having his contract bought out by the Jets this week, veteran forward Blake Wheeler has signed a one-year, $800,000 deal with the Rangers (with $300,000 available in potential bonuses). 25-year-old forward Lane Pederson has come to terms with the Oilers on a two-year, $1.55 million contract. After the Flyers failed to move him ahead of the trade deadline, veteran James van Riemsdyk officially has a new team, signing a one-year, $1 million deal with the Bruins. After finishing the 2022-23 season with the Maple Leafs, center Ryan O'Reilly is headed to the Predators via a four-year, $18 million contract. After not issuing qualifying offers for RFAs Michael McLeod and Nathan Bastian, the Devils re-signed both players: one year, $1.4 million for McLeod, two years, $2.7 million for Bastian. Former Jets forward Kevin Stenlund has landed with the Panthers by way of a one-year, $1 million contract. Seeking to add some size to their lineup, the Maple Leafs have signed forward Ryan Reaves to a three-year, $4.05 million deal. The Predators have reached an agreement with veteran defenseman Luke Schenn on a three-year, $8.25 million deal. Goaltender Antti Raanta is back with the Hurricanes via a one-year, $1.5 million contract. After having his contract bought out by the Canucks earlier this week, defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson has signed a one-year, $2.25 million deal with the Panthers. Quote

Reilly...my bad Preds get Luke Schenn as well. 1 Quote
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Luke Schenn on the Preds makes sense. They like those big nasty defensemen and Schenn still fits that bill. Cam Talbot will be trying yet again to re-establish himself. This time in Los Angeles. 1 year, 1M contract, and I understand there are all sorts of incentive bonuses in that. Quote
Icechipper Posted July 1, 2023 Author Posted July 1, 2023 Pretty sure Wild GM Guerin is fishing on a Minnesota lake today, not in this free agent pool Quote
Brewin Flames Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 ROR would have mad a great Bruin....dammit. Quote
FD19372 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Frederik Andersen signs, and staying in goal in Carolina. Quote

TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Jonas Korpisalo signs in Ottawa, replacing Cam Talbot. I was wanting him to come to TB to back up Vasilevskiy, but his deal is 5 years, 4M AAV. Bolts couldn't fit that into their cap for a backup. Quote
pilldoc Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 (edited) Interesting BOTH Raanta and Andersen resign with the Canes ........ Will be a 3 ring circus in Carolina with regards to goalies ....where does Koch line-up with these guys. Thought for sure either Raanta or Andersen would not be back... Well Raanta is GUARANTEED to get hurt somewhere ...... Edited July 1, 2023 by pilldoc Quote

The tank commander has arrived. Slackin for Macklin 2 Quote
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 Radko Gudas signs with the....Ducks??? Yep. 3 years, 4M AAV. Another player I wouldn't have minded the Bolts signing (Zach Bogosian is rumored to want out of Tampa Bay for a more regular role on someone else's blueline), but again, the Cap is killing TB and they couldn't have fit a 4M AAV in there. Bolts are working on trying to extend Stamkos (presumably to retire as a Bolt), and try and keep Alex Killorn on a hometown discount. Quote
TropicalFruitGirl26 Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 I wonder if a guy like Shane Ghostisbehere would sign with the Lightning on a one or two year deal that he can parlay to a bigger payday elsewhere, to try and help them win another Cup? Besides Victor Hedman, the Bolts really are short on offensive defensemen... Quote
