First Line Killers

In my blog last night I said the game would come down to who wanted it more. Well the Jets wanted it more without a doubt. Buffalo looked slow and was sloppy throughout the game. They could maintain no puck possession, poor passing, and numerous turnovers, 16 to be exact. 16! The Jets won every single battle within the game last night. They came with odd man rush after odd man rush. The headline to this game was the struggle of the Sabres top line. They are the reason that the Sabres did

Week in Review: Flying right along...

Heading down to the Shark Tank last tuesday I was expecting anything but a goalie battle. Bryzgalov's struggle's have been obvious and Niemi was on a bit of a drought himself going 2-5-1 in his last 8 games. When the first shot of the game for the Sharks went in we figured we were in for a scoring onslaught, and yet it never came. The game against the Sharks, as well as the last 2 against New York and Washington, have given me nothing but hope moving forward for the Flyers. I can honestly say th

Monday Meltdown

Welcome to Monday Meltdown. Starting today, every Monday BrowntoBure will take a look back at the week that was in Canuck land and release a little of that Monday stress by ranting on something that really had us shaking our heads. Allow us to ease into this by going to the well for something we could just as easily title "Vancouver's response to every single goal in the last 3 years" How many of you wake up Monday morning excited for the week? Well if you're anything like me you loathe the mom

Who Wants it More? 8th Place Battle in the Peg

Tonight is the first time since Game 7 of last year, I am this amped up for a game. The Jets and Sabres will battle in the MTS Centre for 8th place in the Eastern Conference tonight. Last night the Flyers stonewalled the Caps in a 1-0 win that made tonight's match up even more exciting. Thank you Philly! The MTS Centre is one of the hardest places in hockey for a road team to pick up a W. It is loud and the Jets always come to play at home. It will be key for the Sabres to get out in front

Leafs Fire Coach Ron Wilson, Hire Randy Carlyle

Ron Wilson, former Leafs coachPHOTO: mapleleafs.com The Toronto Maple Leafs have fired their coach, Ron Wilson. TSN's Darren Dreger broke the news roughly an hour ago. They have not yet named a replacement coach. Following a dreadful month of February, where the Leafs playoff aspirations fell from a near certainty to next to impossible, the move that many expected has been made, and the Leafs fire Wilson. Wilson has been the coach of the Maple Leafs since the beginning of the 2008-2009 NHL seaso

The 'Kassassin' locks in

On yet another night where the Vancouver Canucks failed to show up for a first period against the St. Louis Blues there was one guy who was ready to play right off the hop. Zack Kassian single handedly accounted for half of the Canucks shots through one period of play and looked quite dangerous in doing so. He was setting up teammates and driving hard to the net, something this team has been looking for since the departure of Todd Bertuzzi. Mason Raymond, take notes! If there's one way to fi

NEW VIDEO! Fire Wilson!

Simply put, Brian Burke was noted as saying that he believes the current team he has built is a playoff team. Some may agree, some may disagree, the fact of the matter is that they're on the edge of becoming a lottery team. If it's not the players on the team he has built, it must be the coach. Yet, he still hasn't fired his buddy Ron Wilson. Something doesn't add up. FIRE WILSON! Source

Welcome to the Ryan Miller Show

Last night the Sabres skated to a 2-0 win over the surging Ducks. The first 30 to 40 minutes of this game belonged to the Sabres. However in the 3rd period it was the Ryan Miller show. Miller stoned Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan, and others on numerous occassions. Turning away 20 shots in the 3rd and 43 in total on his way to his 4th shutout this season. You can see some of the saves on NHL.com here...http://video.nhl.com/videocenter/console?intcmpid=nhl-hp-vidchn-highlts. Sabres goals were scored b

Trade Wars: Part 11 (habsguy26)

Hey guys, we're back with what is hopefully the last installment (from me anyways) of Trade Wars. I'm not even gonna bother quoting all of the completed trades because 1) there was a a problem with the quoting from my last blog and 2) you should have a basic understanding by now off all the trades. Now, from HF's last issue, I accepted one of his two trades. HF's 1st offer: Confirmed The San Jose Sharks trade: Brad Winchester To the Boston Bruins for a 3rd round pick in the 2012 draft Offer Co

CoHo Debuts Tonight in SoCal

It feels like opening night again, with the anticipation of seeing the debut of Cody Hodgson tonight. The ironic twist is that the Anaheim Ducks are the opponets tonights like on opening night in Helsinki. Hockey Heaven is buzzing about tonights game and the rest of the season for that matter. Tonight's game features two of hottest teams in the NHL fighting for a furious come back to make the playoffs. The Sabres are 8-3-3 in their last 14 and the Ducks are 9-3-2 in their last 14. Hockey Heaven is Sunny Again, Deadline Review

The deadline was a snooze fest yesterday until the 3pm deadline hit. First the Gaustad trade broke and the return of a 1st round pick. I tipped my cap to Sabres GM Darcy Regier on robbing a team of a 1st rd pick for Goose. I was ready to turn off the TV until all H-E-Double Hockey Sticks broke loose. It came across that Zack Kassian was traded to Vancouver. Two thoughts came into my head immediatley. First was..Whaaaaat?!?! Second was wait for Kassian it has to be a huge player coming bac

The Wild Trade Deadline

Wild Musings- The Wild Trade Deadline 2/28/2012 It’s been a busy trade deadline for the Minnesota Wild. Last Friday, The Wild were able to turn disgruntled defenseman Marek Zidlicky into Kurtis Foster, Stephan Veilleux, Nick Palmieri, a 2nd round draft pick, and a conditional draft pick. This is a great deal for the Wild. Foster and Veilleux are big fan favorites, and guys who will get on the ice and give it all they have every time they hit the ice. Palmieri is a big power forward who knows how

NHL Trade Deadline - Full Recap

The NHL's trade deadline past yesterday at 3pm EST. There were more than a few big names kicking around as many major sports broadcasts launched their respective ten-hour trade deadline specials. I'll cut to the chase though, most of the bigger name players, such as Nash, Grabovski and others, ending up staying put with their current teams. The day moved slow, but in the end there were more than a dozen trades before the deadline. Here is a recap of each trade and a bit on who I think walked o
