  1. @jammer2 Oh absolutely!! That would be sacrilege! I also really hope they are going to retain the HNIC theme song, the original song is synonymous with hockey to me since childhood, but I'll even take the newer modified version if I had to....just keep something the same!
  2. 'Tis a very strange agreement indeed! Haven't seen all the details so I still don't fully understand it all. In the words of Don Cherry when he was interviewed on his thoughts about it: "I don't know what's going on."
  3. @Chicago Hawkie Geeze, I didn't realize you actually lost to the Flames the last game! Nice to bounce back on this re-match though! Though i was hoping for a bigger spread ^_^ . Nice to see rookie goalie Antti Raanta in his 1st NHL game for you! I love to see newbie goalies start out & watch how they progress with their game. Seems he did real well for you on his 1st outing & didn't buckle under the pressure or get phased by the 2 goals by the Flames, good for him. He kept you in it long enough & then the Kaner put in that wicked backhand shot by Berra! I saw that in the highlights...something like 18 secs left in the 3rd? Un-bloody-believable! Love that kind of drama in a game...lol!
  4. @jammer2 You called the score jammer! Now, would you mind picking my lotto numbers for this week, please? will share the pot, even!
  5. HAHAHAHA!! Love it!! Acton also reminds me of Lord Voldemort in Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows! This yelling match happened back in early October, our only game so far vs the Oilers...yah I sorta remember it happening between the benches...Torts hasn't had many of these outbursts surprisingly, he has managed to maintain pretty cool composure...mainly it's just yelling at refs for BS calls or non-calls, etc. Haha. But that's something you want your coach to do
  6. Haha, you're a good bud! Yah boy am I ever hating the Kings right now...not that I ever liked them..one of our big nemesis too! Boy did you guys ever win over the Oilys...a blowout! Though I didn't see it all. I can't believe that they have been your nemesis? I don't think they'll be giving you much problem these days! Though now, they've got the "Bryz" in net, to make some 'humongous big' saves for them...lol. That should be interesting to watch how this affects the team, boy did they need help in goal! PS-- you need to bring some duct tape to work after a game for your co-workers..haha!
  7. Lol...actually I don't mind so much supporting the Hawks, they are a team that deserves it...when all their gears are functioning full steam ahead...holy man, LOOK OUT! Sniper alert!! Keith was brilliant last nite too.... I also have really come to respect Toewes a lot, since watching the finals with BOS, same with Seabrook (our hometown boy too, not too far from where I live...lol). Capt. Serious is so mature for his age, it's scary . But what a leader & the right one. And Kane, he doesn't skate...he walks on water basically, making his thread around 3 guys that look like pylons.....just crazy! We showed up as a 'good' team last nite, but it's the GREAT teams that, even when they're down, have what it takes to dig down deep & come back....2 goals in a row. Their depth is just part of the magic. And they have the grit to win (ie. Cup). Now, if it was Boston, no way in h*ll I'm ever wearing their siggy!! All bets are off then! LOL!!
  8. A very good game, indeed, Hawkie! Crawford was outstanding! I haven't seen such valiant attempts & getting good shots like that on net in succession for ...geeze, I dunno how long! Umm...a very...interesting...sig, bud! Ohh the humiliation of it all! Until we meet up again on Dec. 20th! (when we lose to you again!)
  9. Oh yes, I am quite surprised too about our D this game...it actually exists! Esp. against the Hawks' barrage of shots! I haven't seen them play D so well in quite a while. Torts must have really been on them in this regard, in prepping for this match-up...haha! Yah, it's usually us with our typical parade to the penalty box! Even Hank has been in there way too much this season! Kassian, Bieksa & Sestito (Tostito) have somehow managed to be disciplined so far & avoided sitting in the box. Some of our biggest sinners! lol.
  10. Hmm...this is much more even on the Nucks end than I expected! And I am very surprised the Hawks have not scored yet after 2 periods! Keith has been playing great though defensively, knocking Burrows off a few times from any good scoring chances, & yet not taking any penalties...textbook D-work. Good job. (Not that Burrows has been a goal-scoring fiend this season...just 3 points in 12 games so far...holy doodles!)
  11. I'm not overly confident our team will show up tomorrow nite. The only reason it was a blowout for us vs the Blue Jackets tonite, 6-2, was mainly because Bobrovsky played a terrible game, letting in squeakers and kicking 1 into his own net, etc. Imo, the CBJ outplayed us in many respects, esp. in the 1st period, they were sharper, quicker on the pucks, had more aggressive forechecking, & keeping our PP impotent. Besides all of this, the CBJ should be one of the easier teams for us to beat in the league. The Hawks on the other hand, a totally different story. Unless they have a totally lackadaisical nite, all their feet fall asleep, or they all coincidentally injure themselves in practise tomorrow, it's going to be a tough game for us tomorrow nite, any way you look at it. It will be an interesting goalie war, as both are good goalies, Lu has been playing really well for us, only letting in at most 2 goals per game in the last 10 games or so. He is on a hot streak. Imo, the biggest factor though in this game, is the depth of the Hawks compared to the Nucks...which, you really can't compare. Just about anyone on the Hawks' team that has the puck land on their blade, you are holding your breath when they shoot. And besides, this, they have the sharp shooters! Toewes, Kane, Hossa, Pirri, Sharp, Saad, Shaw....not to mention their wicked defense: Keith, Leddy, Oduya, Rozsival, Seabrook.....they can just come in waves, no matter who's on the ice. Let's face it, we are just not in that ELITE league...they are atop the Central Division for a reason, & deservedly so. It would not surprise me if they win the Cup again this year, although the Blues are giving them a run for their money, not to mention the Pacific Div. teams. This might be a good fight to the finish type of game tomorrow, OR, it could be a total blowout against the Nucks as they're badly defeated & humiliated. We shall see!
  12. LOL, if the Arena is loud on Sat nite, don't worry, it won't be for long, I imagine it going quiet pretty quickly once the Hawks start scoring! We've been so crappy lately, 5 losses in a row now. Regarding the bets, that's funny! I don't mind at all posting your Hawk sig after they win (which i'm sure they will!), but I honestly can't think of any positive Nucks sig for you to post if we miraculously won....they'd have to start winning more consistently for me to make a pro-Nucks sig! The only positive I can think of at the moment is Lu's play in net, he's been our best player lately. But we can still bet for fun, I'd just have to think hard to come up with something....haha (PS-- FYI-- unfortunately, we can't post 'images'/avatars in our sigs....just the wording only )
  13. Hmm, Avs could be hungry...or on a continued downward turn...but my money (so to speak!) is on the Hawks...they may be fueled & feeling good after their throttle of the once-invincible Shaaaaaarks! (Welcome back to planet Earth, boys!) ^_^ This will be fun to watch!
  14. Ohh da-mn, Hawkie! We meet Sat nite! Don't worry...you'll beat us no prob! It would be a miracle if you don't... The one good thing I can say is that we're playing at home and not at THE MADHOUSE!!! yeesh! hate playing there! And Rogers Arena has been a library lately so....
  15. Way to go Hawkie! A blowout against the Nucks' great nemesis! Was trying to catch bits here & there. Better than we thought, huh?! As for us...(sigh)...there seems to be an invisible shield around nets for us these days...we had about 80 shots last nite, about half of them on net....with a grand total result of....ONE GOAL! (Well, technically, 2...before Kari's mother, ahem, I mean the ref, called it goalie interference....I think Stevie Wonder could have told you it was a good goal....I've seen faaar worse interference on goalies than that & surprised when the goals were good! Even Kari wasn't complaining....THAT should give you a clue ref!) OK, rant ended. Anyway, onwards & upwards....I mean, we HAVE to beat the Panthers next, right?....sniff...sniff....right??
  16. Oh right, I forgot poor Khabi got injured too, groin I think? Ouuuccch!! Just hate seeing goalies get that kind of injury...(Lu struggled with this a bit not so long ago too, but thank goodness it hasn't seemed to come up again)....it's gotten so common now this year, that every time I see a goalie go post to post, or attempt the splits, I cringe, hoping it doesn't happen to them too! You're right too, I did notice there was a full moon last nite! So that has to be the reason! LOL! Well, dude, good luck to both of us tonite, huh?!
  17. Yah, bun, you'd think they could develop one with a built-in windshield wiper system...haha!!
  18. I didn't see the game last nite unfortunately, just caught a few highlights, but Wow! How did that happen?! Was Khabiboulin (sp?) just off his game or did no Hawks players show up in front of him? How was it not even close? I'm looking forward to tonite's game, should be a good one, as both teams seem to be struggling a bit, so see who will rise better to the occasion! Yah, I'm anxious to see too how they fare against Niemi! Unfortunately again, won't be able to catch the whole game as I'd like, my Nucks are on just an hour after your start. (Btw- I'm not extremely hopeful that the Nucks will win vs Dallas tonite, as that rascal Tyler Seguin is really on a hot streak right now! Geezus that kid! Tho', admittedly, I have been enjoying watching him in Dallas...lol)
  19. Yah I guessed visibility would be great with that kind of visor....so, it looks cool AND it's functionally good ...not much fog, I guess?
  20. LOL! Yah I will definitely have to root for the Hawks on this one, as there's NO WAY i can root for the Yotes...haha. Hawkie, we must work together to take them DOWN!!
  21. Looking forward to watching this one, should be fun! I agree, Ribiero has been a good & valuable addition for the Yotes...however, not so good news in him reinforcing their lineup when it comes to the Hawks, and especially the Nucks in our Division rivalry...yeeesh! Lol.
  22. @TropicalFruitGirl26 Welcome to the board! I admit I was a bit surprised seeing at first that you root for TB & not for the Wild. But your explanations & reasons make a lot of sense. I agree, root for whomever you wish...everyone has their own personal reasons. I admit I wrestled a lot with sticking with rooting for Van at the start of the season, due to how poorly they'd been doing, esp last playoff round being swept in the 1st. But I stuck with them, as they are my home team & have an affinity with them. Lately, I've been happy with their progress under Tort's new system, & how quickly they've adjusted to it-- the shot blocks, the more aggressive forechecking, etc. A far cry from what Vigneault had done with them of late. I am enjoying watching how Torts interacts & implements this team & how he's risen to the challenge. I admit, I didn't like him before & how he'd treat the Rangers, but I have now become a fan of his. I also enjoy watching the Wild (hf101 sorta got me interested..lol), I've become a fan of Parise, & my biggest hero on the team (& possibly the whole NHL) is Josh Harding, not just for his talent in net but even more so, for the physical challenges he's had to overcome, & still come out at the top of the league in SV% and GAA, just amazing! So for me, Josh is the reason I root for Minny, probably as my 2nd fave team. I also like watching the Blues (much to the anger of my Nucks friends) for Yaro Halak & his talent in net & the records he's broken in that franchise. Also cuz they're a talented club, & also why I admire a team like the Hawks & have fun watching them too (even tho they're such a rival...lol). In other cases, I will root for the underdogs, like Columbus (I'm a fan of Bobrovsky) & Philly (& enjoy watching Mason) & happy for them when they pull out of a slump.
  23. You're right yave, not everyone in here is a Flyer fan. ALMOST everyone in here is a Flyer fan. The 1 percentile that is not, is sorely outnumbered. I've tried supporting many Flyer games by joining in on the Game chat room on their game nights & was happy to do so. I distinctly remember though, hanging out in the chat room for almost an entire Nucks game one nite (was supposed to meet someone in there), and not 1 single Flyer fan joined me, even momentarily, to help support the Nucks, even though many were on the board that nite. Not complaining about the guys, cuz they are great guys, just giving my honest feeling of how isolated & excluded it can feel on here, observing as I come into my 5th month on this forum.
  24. Even the commentators during the play could not believe that was not reviewed or even discussed. Someone was asleep at the wheel for sure. However, for me, it is the Sharks (grrr), so not gonna cry over the spilt milk, lol!
