  1. I love Meltzer, one of (if not the only) level headed writers the Flyers have. Literally the only reason why I go on hockeybuzz haha
  2. I wouldn't be shopping him, but if come draft time somebody comes and offers a mid 1st for him, how do you not pull the trigger? The guy was a FA signing, pretty damn good return of investment if you ask me! Only reason I would think about trading him is for cap reasons, the guy is an absolute steal right now and will want to get paid by the time his contract runs up.
  3. I'm kind of surprised so many people have problems with this statement? This isn't a doom and gloom statement this is a hey we need to get our crap together statement. Honestly it's weird coming from Bryz and not Giroux. This is something that should be said to get your team a wakeup call and get off their lazy asses. Props to Bryz in this instance, now let's see if it works.
  4. Pronger just gave his 1st press conference since 2011. He looked like he was in good spirits (despite his young Sigmund Freud/stereotypical professor look) and was joking around and taking shots at different people of the media. He's still experiencing symptoms, having problems running/exercising, but is improving. Guy really seemed determined to come back to play but that might just be a ploy the Flyers made him put on so he doesn't have to retire. Hopefully he can return to a normal relatively symptom free life.
  5. Thank goodness.... I read this and thought the sky was falling, but looked outside and it turns out we're all ok. Whew.... Bryz has NOT been the problem this season. With a $5.6 mil cap hit should he be stealing some games here and there? Yes, and he has from time to time. Is he going to stop every puck he should? No.... but honestly what goalie other than a few select elite do every time? Every goalie has bad nights, bad goals, bad stretches. I realllllly don't understand this fan base and placing the sole blame on one individual. I kind of wish hockey would include a stat that has errors for the other 5 guys on the ice similar to that of baseball. If they have an error then the goal doesn't count against the goalie, at which point Bryz's GAA would probably be top 5 in the league.
  6. You're not kidding! That stuck out like a sore thumb to me. Not sure what good putting him on the 3rd line will do, even if he's in the doghouse I'd bench him to get my point across rather than dress him on the 3rd.
  7. No, no, and no. Coots and a 2nd for a journeyman goalie? The guy has potential, has been good so far this year, but he has 24 career NHL wins in 53 starts. Also as previously mentioned the Kings have a logjam at Center.
  8. I doubt he's going anywhere. NMC, likes the area, likes the team, has young kids. I've been guilty of being a Briere basher several times but there is no denying the guys got talent and is absolutely clutch come playoff time. If an offer comes in for a young solid dman (just going to type that to avoid defenseman vs defenceman lol) you have to do what's best for the team and that's trade him. It would certainly be tricky persuading him to waive that NMC though.
  9. I'll make sure to cheer extra hard for you tomorrow night. If he doesn't play I got free box seats for Sat vs Ottawa too. Good to have friends that have extra tickets through their company
  10. I wouldn't mind seeing him on a line with Schenn or Coots. Obviously haven't seen any LA games this year but if Gagne still plays that solid 2 way presence either one of those guys could pick up a lot of knowledge.
  11. But I don't want to go buy a new Harry Z jersey........
  12. Not sure how this trade works? Gagne has a $3.5 cap hit, did we have the space? I'm going to the game tomorrow thanks to some free club box seats (still not buying tickets!), hope he's playing.
  13. He was at the game the other week.... scientist have developed a bionic eye and hand recently... maybe foot is next?
  14. http://flyers.nhl.co...ge.htm?id=64095 Gagne for a 4th, I like!!! correction: Conditional 4th round pick previously acquired from Phoenix
  15. No thanks... guy is making almost $7 mil a year, no way to fit him in unless some significant salary is going back the other way.
  16. Can't really compare a defensive defensemen to an offensive one. Schenn has had a few hiccups but overall I have been very impressed and he should only get better. That being said Carle would GREATLY help this team especially with Meszaros out. I don't think Schenn came in to replace Carle as you state, but I'll gladly take him. Carle got so much crap in this town, I don' think the haters realized everything he brought to the table, especially with that 1st pass to feed a rush. That kind of pass is essential to Lavy's run and gun "system"
  17. Wait, year 4 and Kimmo is still on the roster? Yikes lol
  18. Read holds an incredible value right now. While I would love to see him fit into the Flyers long-term plan, I just don't see it happening. The guy is a steal right now at his current cap hit of 900k for the remainder of the season and next. Problem is when we might be ready to legitimately compete his contract will be up. He's going to get a very large increase in salary (I'd imagine 4-4.5 range). Trading him now while his value is high and his cap is low would be the best time. If I thought we are 1 or 2 missing pieces away from getting to the Stanley Cup there is no way in hell I even consider trading him, but moving him to a contender tight against the cap for a high end prospect/1st rounder? Sure I'm game for a guy we signed as a undrafted FA. A 26 year old in his 2nd season in the NHL coming off a rookie 47 point season making 900k? I don't know I just see a team offering substantial youth for that. If he were 20-21 obviously they should hold on to the guy, but at 26 I'm thinking we got what we've seen (which sure as hell isn't bad).
  19. i didn't get to catch the whole game thanks to work, but the "slashing" penalty I saw he hit the puck. I thought that was a complete BS call. Granted I did work a 14 hour day and had a couple of brews in me so maybe I was seeing things I think some people's expectations might be a too bit high on Knuble. The guy is 40 years old, and probably should have retired this year. Really my only expectation when he signed here was to give Hartnell and Simmonds some pointers on getting the dirty goals and neither one of them is in the lineup.
  20. Wayyyyy too early to tell. The power forward always takes longest to develop (for the forward position). Tye has played exceptionally well for a 4th round pick and shows a lot of promise and upside. Who expected anything from a 4th rounder? Anything outside the 1st is a crapshoot and our expectations were low. JVR has 6 goals on the year already in 10 games (on the 1st line where he really does belong) and should develop into a consistent 30 goal scorer. Will McGinn do the same? I doubt it. But a 2nd overall vs a 4th rounder, McGinn definitely holds the value pick. JVR will be the better player when all is said and done but the better value from a draft consensus is McGinn. Hopefully he turns into what we all hoped JVR would!
  21. The seats will be filled either way. Win or lose I will go to games as a fan (well except when they decide to cancel half the games....) I completely agree in building around a core of players and let the pieces fall into place. Ryan is still young and can be one of those core players at age 25. If the price is right you HAVE to pull the trigger. I don't expect the Flyers to do squat this year and quite honestly would be in favor of trading off expiring veterans hat would be valuable to cup contenders for prospects/picks. The only problem is any of those veterans most likely have NTC/NMC. Ryan is going to cost a pretty penny regardless of how much he is unhappy of being in the Ducks organization or not, he is under contract and they won't trade him for pennies. Laughton alone won't get it done, throw in Timonen and it might be a done deal? Ducks are 4th in this shortened season and right now and have the cap room to take him on. Any trade speculation on who the buyers/sellers will be is too early at this point but if the Flyers and Ducks keep up with their current pace I would be all for something like this happening. Any panic move to try and push the team over the hump and squeak into the playoffs would be useless at this point.
  22. This is the fan I put in. Thing is HUGE http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835214024
  23. Computer is a go, new fan and all! ONE of the darn case fans isn't working but I'm not concerned at this point. The CPU, and Graphics temps are wayyyyy lower than before so I'm happy. Just ran a game for about an hour and everything is looking good, woohoo!
  24. Now time to try to get the fan in... *fingers crossed*
