  1. I guess by 10% I am saying the last 10% that puts you over the top. Let's put it this way, when's the last team that you thought wasn't very talented but had amazing coaching that won the Stanley Cup? You could have injected Scotty Bowman's DNA into the eyeballs of every Flyer this year and they still weren't winning a Stanley Cup.
  2. Coaching can put you over the last 10%, but talent is the other 90%.
  3. Perfect new Flyers’ slogan. Gets me hyped.
  4. That article is so stupid. Ok, that makes a lot of sense. So I assume we will be bringing in outside coaches with a winning pedigree instead of promoting former Flyers without coaching experience just because they played half a season at the end of their careers, right? What?
  5. Of course there is no rebuild coming. This is why they are going to be bad for years to come.
  6. Couts will be washed out before this team sniffs an ECF. And you will need to pay him $8M x 6 years minimum to keep him that long. He's my favorite Flyer of the last ten years but it's negligent not to trade him.
  7. I agree they need to get rid of Giroux, Voracek, JVR, etc. I just strongly disagree that this is going to improve the team in the short term. My entire point is if you make these changes you need to be prepared to be realistic about your timeline for being competitive. The Flyers haven't been realistic since Holmgren traded Carter and Richards.
  8. I love Couturier and at his best he might be close, but he won't be in 4-5 years. So if you are building around Couturier for now, you're going to need all that depth those Kings teams had (Carter, Richards, Brown, Lewis, Toffoli, etc. etc. etc.), not to mention a Doughty and a Quick.
  9. Right. My point is the team isn't likely to be good* for 4-5 years**, so anyone older than those two isn't going to be a veteran, they are going to be washed. Best case scenario is those two are still quality veterans in 4-5 years and the core of the team are younger players with 2-3 superstars***. As per Rux, expecting anything to happen sooner with this management is ordering seconds at a schitt-eating contest. *By good I mean capable of making the playoffs three years in a row and winning at least a few rounds each year. **I think 7+ is likely unless there are 2-3 superstars*** in the pipeline I don't know about. ***Perennial all-stars, game-changers, whatever.
  10. Depressing, isn't it? I just don't see getting your nails done (Hamilton, Jones) when the leg has gangrene.
  11. Montreal hasn't won anything yet. Let me put it another way: when the Flyers win the Cup, what Flyers forward is (or will be) as good as Tarasenko was when the Blues won? Or Kopitar with the Kings? I would argue this player isn't yet in the Flyers org. And both those guys had lots and lots of help. I agree with this 100%. Everything else is window dressing.
  12. See what you did? You turned Carter Hart into a superstar (and at the most important position). My point is I don't see a single superstar in the entire Flyers system. A couple of nice players here or there, but no superstars.
  13. Another friendly reminder that anyone older than 25 won't be able to meaningfully contribute by the time this team is good again. At best, guys like Provorov and Konecny would be veterans in 3-4 years on a team with much younger superstars. More likely they are going to stay mired in mediocrity, always thinking they are one vet away, or if we got rid of this or that guy, we will be able to compete.
  14. Heart. It's called the heart. I'm being positive, not negative. There is a non-zero chance he scores 50 pts for the second time in his career.
  15. This is your reminder that we still have 5 more years of Hayes at $7M+ per year. Will he break 50 pts this year? There's always a chance.
  16. What Flyer prospects are going to come up and be franchise players at 22 years old? We haven't had one of those types since Giroux in his prime and I don't see any of our prospects being one of these players and we need 2-3 of them to compete for a Cup. And I don't want to hear about Provorov, Farabee, Konecny. Nice players but they aren't prospects any more and certainly aren't franchise players on the level of a Doughty, Kane, etc.
  17. All the Cups these two old boys won for the Flyers definitely justifies them walking through the Flyers' revolving door once again. Once a Flyer, always a Flyer (unfortunately).
  18. I would rather have Patrick on the roster than Hayes. The former you could send down to LV or healthy scratch and it won't matter, the latter is going to be a stone weight on the neck of this franchise at $7M+ per year for a billion years.
  19. Lol, Ghost's value = zero. Any team in the league could have had him for free and passed. Now a team is going to suddenly give up assets for him? I don't think so.
  20. It's pretty clear that Provorov is really a solid #2 with flashes, but not really a true #1. This means he's one of the Flyers' best homegrown defensemen of all time. Cam York is still using Medac for his pimples and we're all ready to predict his career.
  21. God, I forgot about Hayes. I haven't seen one dip$hit on here who argued he was a good signing come back and admit they were wrong. Cowards. The best thing you can say about Hayes is that he'll help us get better draft position for years to come.
