  1. he's been, arguably, our best D man this early in the season so far.
  2. right? i mean.. simmonds is a great player, but we need schenn to become a top player. otherwise, this deal is not looking great. how much time do we give him? at this moment... i kinda wish we had carter and richards back. i know... blasphemy!
  3. the more i look at it... it's not even a charging call. he stopped skating long before the hit. the leaving the feet is so marginal of a call that it is really quite incredible that this warranted even a 2nd look. it wasn't blatant or obvious to anyone 'live' that he left before the hit. it certainly wasn't a premeditated head hunting hit. this is a real slippery slope... if you start suspending players for these hits, you might as well just start taking hitting out of the game. i swear the only reason it was looked at by shanny is 1) he's bored. and 2) the devils sent a tape in. this is utter bull****. pure and simple.
  4. of course Lavy has to accept some of the blame to this point... but, i certainly don't know how you start thinking about firing the coach 3 games into a lockout F'd up season. there's far too many reasons we're in this hole and a great many of them have to deal with the personel we're putting out there, which has very little to do with Lavy.
  5. according to multiple sources. i'll be it's a broken foot bone... grreeeaaatttt. can we call it a season already?
  6. the last 3 games, i've been way more impressed by our opponents teams than ours. those 3 teams have a lot more to be excited about than we do. where is all of our scoring going to come from? how is our D ever gonna stop these offensive juggernauts? i mean... i really can't see us beating the rags tomorrow night. of course, i'll be watching and i really hope we do... but seriously, i just can't see how. they're a much better team top to bottom.
  7. brenden must be getting bored and feeling left out of all the hockey action or something. there's no way that hit even warrants a 2nd look. penalty? maaaaybe. maaaaybe. even then, i mean.. it's a borderline call. why are they even looking at this? did the devils send it in? if so, they're a bunch of rats. volchenkov takes out more players in a season that most do in their careers.
  8. **grunch** hey... let's face it... we have/had no reason to expect a stanley cup run this year. we did not improve from last year. let me repeat... we did NOT improve. in fact, we got younger/older and thinner in all the wrong positions. bryz is still the enigma and is not the shutdown goalie we're paying for. timo is still great, but old. he shouldn't be counted on, at this point, to be our number 1 minute burner. we are a very young team. while this is nice and all, it really shows out there. sloppy sloppy and did i say... sloppy? this year already reminds me of the last lockout return season. except, that one i had a bit more hope with forsberg. this one? seriously... i'm looking to the next few years. i'm looking forward till the summer to see if we're gonna buy out bryz. that's what i'm lookin forward to. in the meanwhile, im' just trying to enjoy the beauty that is nhl ice hockey. it goes well with my beers on these cold winter nights.
  9. trade him now!!!! his value will never be higher!!
  10. grunch bizarre as it may be... there are still rumblings of the flyers being in on the Luongo sweepstakes. for the record... i'm not in favor of that move. Isn't his contract even longer than Bryz?
  11. why not? couts dominated frankenalkin
  12. i think this is where i'm supposed to chime in!? i think this is where i'm supposed to chime in!?
  13. then i'm supposing you agree with the healthcare reform that has been put in place. it's revenue sharing to some degree. do you agree with it IF it benefits the people? not to derail this into a political debate, but i just find it incongruent when Right leaning beliefs are selectively applied.
  14. on top of this... it makes it much easier to trade a guy who has a manageable cap hit. again.. i can't see how flyer's fans have a problem with this. flyer's fans will complain if he DIDN'T lock them up. there's no making anyone happy here. sweet geebus.
  15. am i the only one who thinks the Players Union actually gave up too much in their first volley!? i like what they submitted, but i think the salary rollback concession was too much to put forward in the first round. however, i do think it shows that they are being more than reasonable in these negotiations. I think what bettman knows is that the players have that lockout fresh in their minds. losing an entire season for any career is fairly much bigger for them than an owner losing a season. i might also be alone in my belief that they will actually get something hammered out before sept. 15. i really wouldn't underestimate that both sides know just how bad a lockout is for the entire league. still... the league needs to budge for this to happen.
  16. well, maybe it wasn't the best use of the term, but what i mean is that you've had a bug up your arse about weber since the RFA sheet signing. your sour grapes are simply from not liking his decision to put the preds over a barrel. that's all. but, what did Weber do before signing the offer sheet that made you think of him in a lesser light? i mean.. besides rapping some guys head into the glass a few times during the playoffs, i'm not sure i follow you there. the fact that he has not received a dime from his signing bonus means very little, if nothing, at all. it's just a formality because he *will* get it. he *will* sign it. other than allowing Nashville to gain some interest on that money, i can see little to now consequence to that. maybe you could enlighten me, though.
  17. huh? the NHL can dispute the contract if they feel it violates the CBA. it does not, so there isn't an issue. the NHLPA can also dispute it if they feel it violates the rights of their members. it does not. all i'm saying is... that would be the only way the contract would get voided. in other words... it will not be voided. he will sign, eventually, and be a pred for ???
  18. i think there is a lot of room here to be subjective, so i'll just leave that as your opinion. I've not read that he is 'demanding' nor have i read that Nashville is 'refusing'. basically, all we know right now is that he wants one and apparently they haven't given him one. that's the fact. now we can take sides on this and call Weber a prima donna if we want, but i think it's a bit premature to be making those kinds of statements. sounds like sour grapes to me. my sour grapes are definitely with the Preds org. there is a dissonance with their public statement to their fans and not agreeing to a NMC for Weber. now, you're correct... they don't need to give him one. but, if the preds sincerely mean to keep him there for the duration of his career, then a NMC amounts to nothing more than a show of faith to weber and the fans that they mean it. all i'm saying is that i think it's weird. i don't think the preds are being d*cks and i don't think weber is a prima donna. it's just weird to let it get to the point where it's public and bad PR.
  19. the only parties that can void the trade are the NHL and NHLPA. and there is nothing there for them to void it.. so it's a done deal.
  20. at the very least, it's all very curious. Nashville made their grand statement that they were committing to the fans and keeping their marquee players. they reached deep(very very very deep) and decided to match the outrageous offer that Homer put on the table and Shea signed. now, we've already been through the ringer a few times about whether they *should* have matched or not. But, for the reasons they said they decided to match, you would think a NMC would just be a gimme at that point. let's remember that it's Nashville that is refusing to give him a NMC. i don't understand the finger pointing in Shea's direction about this. frankly, it's kinda awkward and kinda weird. if i'm a Preds fan, it actually makes me question their commitment. are they going to turn around and trade him in a year!? as crazy and stupid as that would be, it makes you wonder. for Shea, it's just added insurance that he stays a pred and that if they do come to want to trade him he has location certainty. certainly a player of his caliber who just signed a long term commitment deserves that. no?
