  1. I think the fact that his contract and performance are still being steadily lambasted after almost an entire year tell the story.
  2. They'd have to be morons to trade a 23 year old quality defenseman for VLC and his ridiculous contract though. You're going to have to give a lot more for that.
  3. So you think he threw the series to get back to 30th place? Lol. Yikes... Uhh... If he'd won a Cup he can still choose who he signs with after this season.
  4. There's absolutely no way to know, but most concussions have no long term effects until compounded by repeated concussions. The kid is only 26 and never known anything but hockey. I'm sure there's a lot of room to mature. Most 26 year old men are still maturing, and I doubt he'd be any different despite the skills he has.
  5. You just have a good reason why they WON'T want VLC. They're already watching the cap trying to get the best value. Would you rather pay that money for Josi or a 37 point lazy old man who was -16? No way they make that trade, and they're not going to be doing Philly any favors.
  6. Don't worry your Flyers still have more suspensions/fines than the Pens over the past few years. Lol.
  7. You're so full of it it's laughable. Yeah Neal has a few suspensions on his résumé now, but none put him in the league of Ruuttu or Cooke, or Downie or Rinaldo. Yet you sit here and add Crosby as a dirty player? Giroux has been suspended more than Crosby, and deservedly so. You're so full of spite you speak nonsense. Please show me where Lemieux "continually" whines about the state of the league? He made one major press release a few years ago. Since then he reprimanded Cooke and told him to shape up or ship out. How is that hypocritical? He has also had a discussion with Neal and all of the sudden Neal cleaned his act up for the playoffs. He's a work in progress, sure, but please show me any spec of evidence Lemieux has been hypocritical. A person spouting hate without facts to support it often gets told things like .... SHUT UP.
  8. Nah... They're all the same when it comes to that lol
  9. Technically it was in the padded rectum
  10. I expect the announcers to be homers. I'm in favor of it really. But I don't like stupid people, and Steigerwald really pushes that envelope at times...
  11. This thread is closed. I mean, we ALL know the diving stops when the Pens get eliminated.
  12. Then I apologize for misunderstanding your previous posts. I interpreted them to be overly critical of Sid, with insults included, and calling B21, Noss and myself "apologists". If your intention was more people you know elsewhere then I missed that.
  13. . I could see getting them time and in hindsight I suppose Bortuzzo and Depres might not be considered prospects anymore. Maybe I'm wrong but in my eyes someone is a prospect until they're full time with the big club. Personal perspective I guess, sorry!
  14. When you know what was said or why please post it. Until then, I have to take for granted that the two grown men in a high pressure situation had a heated comment to sort out. If Bylsma's tapping his chest was a "my bad" moment maybe he made a comment to Crosby that was out of line and Crosby snapped about it? Maybe Crosby was pissed off about losing and letting them all know it, as a captain should. Really if THAT is an earth shattering dispute, my wife and I are the ruling monarchs of earth shattering moments.
  15. You can acknowledge a man's skill but still be a hater. Crosby does the same things your very own captain does as far as jawing and yacking at refs and the players that harass him. But it's somehow childish when Crosby does it but not when Giroux does? Or Getzlaf? Or Zetterberg? Or any number of other captains in the league? @B21 is 100% correct in pointing out the difference we'd have seen if Crosby had squirted Lundqvist with water. Many here would be tearing him apart. That's bias. Prejudice. "Hating". We're used to it from a lot of places. When you lace a post with finger pointing without specific cause or analysis, subtle insults and degrading remarks about the man rather than the issue, the validity of anything else posted remains tainted. That's more the norm than not, here and in the brain trust analysts. Don't tell me it was on Crosby to do better. Tell me what exactly he did that cost us the series. He didn't score? What else could he have done that we didn't see him do? He was in a dispute in game 5? How did that really hurt the series? Tell me why it didn't help the Pens' cause. You call it apologizing for him. I call it demanding a person be able to justify an accusation with facts and analysis. Something I haven't seen yet from bonehead Starkey or anyone else saying it all falls on him.
  16. @Vanflyer I don't know the connection and I put in another post I don't see it happening, but strange things do happen out there. I think the Pens have a stronger roster than Detroit right now, but the Wings are still competitive so it's not like he's in a hopeless situation. @brelic Those were all circumstances of good old boys moving up and a new face taking the GM spot. The Pens rolled Bylsma out so that's not happening here. @flyercanuck I was thinking more Depres and Bortuzzo full time. Figure Letang, Martin, Maata, Scuderi, Bortuzzo and Depres. If they can keep Niskanen and shelf Scuderi then all the better in my eyes.
  17. So what do you call someone who defends Giroux when he disagrees with the officials or responds to someone harassing him on the ice? You act like Crosby does things differently than most other star players, when in fact they ALL do that stuff. They ALL set the stage for the next call, or disagree with officials who blow it. You call us apologists for not seeing him any differently than any other superstar player. We call you a Crosby "hater" for taking run of the mill hockey stuff and trying to villainize the guy for speaking his mind just like everyone else.
  18. We have the money for Niskanen. Orpik's contract ended, and there's space. I don't know if they will though. We have a good bunch of defensive prospects that deserve a chance. I hope they do, I just don't know that they will. Back to the actual topic though... I heard a little birdie infer that the Pens MIGHT have an in on prying Babcock from the Wings. THey MAY be waiting to see if it happens, because a coach like him would have a lot of say on what players stay and what players go.... When I first heard the rumor I thought it was pure mularkey... but I'm hearing more and more of it, and that actually made sense...
  19. Crosby apologist? What do I have to apologize for? What does Crosby have to apologize for? Maybe punching some guy in the rectum (though I'm sure he deserved it)... or.... I just figured it out. There was a picture where he took his 16 year old sister to the Bieber concert. THAT he still has to apologize for!
  20. And to these points... I honestly think hockey is more a "team" sport. The dependency on your teammates is second by second, entering the zone, passing the puck, dumping and chasing the puck, covering the opponents' rush into your zone, etc etc... where baseball players bat individually, pitch individually, field the ball individually... etc etc... It's a lot harder to evaluate how the "chemistry" of a team will change with an incoming player than it is to crunch the numbers of what a guy's on base percentage will mean or how many errors he makes per season.
  21. And my fantasy team dies with Price... I told you he was no good @mojo1917 !! Lol
