  1. TSN provided a great write up. I like what I am reading and it drills down the exact state of the Flyers. What I don't get is the whole CORSI equation, and I am a math guy of sorts, or at least I get paid to be one. It just seems that stats bubbas try justifying everything with a number and in this case their numbers cannot predict an outcome given an uncontrolled environment, but I do digress. I agree with @flyercanuck that the Nick Cousins may be the Steve Downie + Zac Rinaldo hybrid that this team seems to salivate over. Here's to hoping he can hide the bulls eye that will be on the back of his jersey. I like what I saw from Gostibehere at the World Jrs, but also agree that he needs a pro-hormone cycle, or the very least some Decca to size up. (this is a joke by-the-way). He may not have the same magic in a more competitive environment, but he is a project that adds some depth none the less. I am not too sure what Danny B will get the Flyers in return, but a package of him with (Homer's favorite trading chip) a 2nd rounder, and Meszaros may be enough to convince St.Louis to trade us an impending RFA. I get that Briere does not want to leave, but he could get top 6 minutes with the Blues and he'll probably be bought out in Philly. Wait that logic is off, ok wishful thinking. In net there is a problem. The sample size for Mason is too small and Bryz has to go plain and simple. He may be good (somewhere, like a Beer League), but not in with the Flyers current make-up. So at the end of the day, there is a lot of depth at the forward position, goaltending is shaky and unresolved, and we need a #1 defender going forward. Man that last statement in orange could have been said 10 years ago and the result would still be the same.
  2. Probably since Jimmy Carter was in office.
  3. Gentlemen, it's a know fact that this team lacks a good faceoff winning center. You know like how a great football team is great because they have this: ***edit*** please note that this is a gem from the philly <dot> com days and in no way, shape, or form am I serious. I am having fun at George's expense.
  4. @radoran You and facts always getting in the way.
  5. Wow. That is extreme, but hey they had the talent. Perhaps too much talent in the room. I see a major roster shake up too. God, I hope Lindy Ruff is not his replacement. If I have to see that turd six times a year with the possibility of playoff hockey too, I may puke.
  6. @brelic A: Yes if I were in the captains chair I would try and trade up B: Scott Hartnell, 2013 1st, Sean Couturier Sheds Hartnell's contract, so essentially it's a win-win as far as I am concerned. Take Mackinnon with the pick.
  7. @Jmdodgesrt4 Those numbers did seem a little high, but they came from Capgeek, so I assumed that they were correct.
  8. Here are some interesting numbers for the Rangers regarding payroll vs success (it is a crude excel sheet that I made so bear with me): With that said, the most successful season that I see is last year in regards to payroll vs. success. ***note the Flyers could look eerily similar if I make the similar sheet**** Rangers.xls
  9. I think a certain member here would go ape if Miller left the beloved Sabres and joined the dark side in Philadelphia. Logically he is a distraction with all his crying. He has not been clutch in years (2009-10) and he is no where near the cost of either Schenn. At least not at this juncture of his career. Too old, too expensive, too close to being a UFA. I have a feeling that we will see another year of Bryz with a lot of exposure of Mason. If all else fails, Homer can overpay monetarily when he is a UFA next season.
  10. Wait, help me wrap my head around this logic. Danny Briere buyout from CapGeek.com 2013-14: $4,333,333 2014-15: $5,333,333 2015-16: $833,333 2016-17: $833,333 Then expect that he actually wants to come back to Philly and expect that he wants to make far less then another team may offer him. Cut the cord bro, his skill set is behind him, I mean like WAYYYYYY behind him.
  11. This is how I feel about the Rangers losing:
  12. @mojo1917 I know it's a should have, would have, could have hindsight comment, but how great would Dougie Hamilton look in the O&B? I know it is a relatively small sample size, but from what I have seen from him, he is impressive. On the subject in hand, the B's rolling 4 lines make them a huge threat. The Rangers have their hands full with this match up. If Pittsburgh gets through the semis, the conference finals against the B's would be something great to watch. Probably one of the better match ups I can recall in over a decade. Here just a little over a week ago when it looked to be an epic collapse for the B's against Tronno, I thought Claude Julien would be on the hot seat. Not the case now. Dare I say go B's go!
  13. @Podein25 You sure did. That in turn increased my street cred 10 fold
  14. @ 1) Bryzgalov 2) Horton 3) Briere 4) Gervais 5) No 6) No 7) both 8) Nurse if still on the board 9) Gagne 10) Voracek-Giroux-Gagne
  15. @Polaris922 Understandable. I think the Leafs are showing tremendous heart, but like the Islanders, are not a complete team. Tonight's game 7's with the B's and Rags will be great. I look forward to it. This years playoffs, despite the Flyers not in it, are some of the most exciting that I recall seeing in a looooooong time. I hope both games go to OT tonight.
  16. @Polaris922 It's my Superior Intelligence Agency findings. Lol. Word on the street is they are in search of this guy:
  17. The Islanders series was great. Maybe a divisional match up between the Rags and Pens in the Conference Finals??? That would be a fun series as a spectator like myself, nerve wracking as a fan of either team though. Still silently wishing the Caps squeak through as I have Holtby in my Fantasy Playoffs.
  18. Patriotic lunacy at its finest. "Why you haff to be med? It's just a game"..... A game that is viewed mostly by Canadians, played almost entirely by Canadian and European men, financed greatly by Americans; in summation: It's everybody's game. This is, to me, the biggest cultural melting pot with regards to pro-sports. It's a game, people from Tronno are especially crazy due the absence of a post season in nearly a decade. It will pass, but at the end of the day there has been far worse things to happen to the National Anthem (Roseann Barr, Carl Lewis, R.Kelly, Christina Aguilera, Hilary Clinton), than a few overly hyped Leafs fans. Hell, it's not like The Kids in the Hall are storming the American Embassy in Ottawa chanting Death to the Hockey Infidels......
  19. @flyerrod Exactly, I figured I would derail and obvious topic.
  20. I'd expect to see Vokoun starting next game. And I still think the Pens take the series, but there are some serious questions regarding goal tending going forward from here. MAF has been melting down in recent years and that I would not put on the coach. Polaris is right, Malkin being a complete f-head does not help the situation either. No to derail the subject, but I can see Malkin getting moved in the off season to the Flyers for Ilya Bryzgalov. Goal tending problem solved  . Other wise, this has been an unexpectedly awesome series to watch.
